Very excited reading this. We managed to book 8510 on quantum.
The room looks amazing!
The space is great. We just came back from trying carnival cruises. Never again, and this just makes us more excited.

So far on our cruises out of Sydney we have done just that!
Cocktail in hand/ kids in the pool!
Just pack make sure you pack a seperate carry on bag with what you need.
Have fun!!

Personally not our favourite solstice. Sorry. Lovely ship but not the feel we were looking for. I really liked the 'modern luxury' themes before I went - but didn't really do it for me.
We like a bit more lively atmosphere. We did a repositioning so that does impact the ave age massively.
Would go radiance or legend.
Our favourite cruise is still Voyager so yes would go legend. Loved the open promenade and activities.
We are just about to try carnival for the first time so hoping its good.

I would agree very unlikely.
Youngest is three that we have seen and that is provided that they are toilet trained.
Toilet training (not being) is an absolute deal breaker.
Other option is in room babysitting. But that will cost you a per hour fee and is not always available.

You might need to prepare him now.
I think a big issue will be itinerary.
I'll be packing the tissues.

Hi Cruise Friends,
Does anyone know if the sports bar on legend plays super rugby?
My husband will likey suffer massive withdrawal symptoms!!
Thanks:p

I think it partially depends on what sort of activities you like.
We much prefer Royal. More lively & fun. Solstice was just ok.
We enjoy fun cruise activities. And we travel as a family.
But either way no cruise is a bad cruise cause someone cleans up after you and cooks your dinner. 😃 Oh and there are cocktails

We've been using SCTI.
Never had to claim. It's good peace of m

Every time you make a payment you would have been emailed an updated itinary.
Make sure you keep them. Pays to check your onboard credit and stuff like that every so often. From experience I would take a hard copy with you on the cruise just in case they bugger it up.
Have an awesome holiday!

I plan to cruise around Australia and New Zealand next Xmas up have been told that the seas around that area are very choppy. Is that true?
Pack your sea bands - you'll be right.

Highly recommend taking the ships tour. We did one off of voyager of the seas back in 2013.
We went with a captain cook trip. It was utter crap.
And we were late back. Captain had to hold the set sail/ departure for us. But we got a 100% refund. rcl were fabulous about it. That's the beauty of booking through the ship.

In July we are taking a two week cruise with our three sons on a ship that has no public laundry. I'm a little worried! I'll try not to be 'that' person but I'm not making any guarentees!
My hot tip for what's it's worth. We did a 28 day cruise on solstice Syd - YVR
2 adults and 2 kids.
Took a silicon bucket - it's folds right up and a clothes hanger from the cheap shop. (And our own liquid laundry wash) liquid devolves better.
Yes i hung it out on our balcony sometimes. It was a God send!!

have not cruised RCI in a couple of years but does anyone know if you can still remove the $12 per person per day tipping and just pay who you want and how much you want as this has always been my preference:confused:
Yes you can - we did this about three years ago at the recommendation of the customer service desk.
Yes will still tipped the same, but we paid some out in cash rather than through the auto tipping. We wanted to make sure we covered the kids club staff.

Thanks. This is great to hear. The bed rails I've seen in pictures only seem to go a small ways across. You felt they were long enough?
Sent from my ONE E1005 using Tapatalk
The rails were good. I was worried before the cruise about how the kids would go, but it was great. It was a big novelty for them.
-
Our kids loved them! They were 5 &6 at the time.
Before that we had only used the sofa bed and this was heaps better.
The Pullman beds in our room had rails on the beds so they were safe and secure.

Thanks for the review. We recently sailed with celebrity and we won't again.
We have just booked with carnival and it made my day to see your review!

We went on the solstice in April 15 - Sydney to Honolulu.then on to Vancouver.
As I said the staff were great. We don't do the rock climbing walls either, but we do like some entertainment fit to age group.
End of the day we didn't cook or clean, and we had a nice view but i was expecting more from all the advertising I guess. I'm sure that a short cruise to the Bahamas would be completely different!
-
We loved RC and tried celebrity for a change. Food was great. Staff great. But we were way way to young for this crowd & entertainment.
It's really all geared to a much older crowd. the staff were fantastic and very understanding.
-
We highly recommend sea bands. They work a treat for us. I might take some ginger tablets. Much prefer the natural approach.
We are about to sail on celebrity and brought the all inclusive drinks package. It will work for us.
-
We board the Solstice in Sydney on April 3rd for 29 days. So glad that you enjoyed the ship and thank you for the excellent review!
So are well!! Sydney to Vancouver! Cant wait!! :D
Thanks for the review, it has made my day reading such a lovely positive review.

I love
The anticipation of arriving at our stateroom for the first time to see what it really looks like!
Our first cocktail
Seeing our children's faces filled with delight and giggles as they find the pool
Great food
No cleaning and meeting wonderful people!
-
We have done one on RCL - loved it. The food/ company/ service etc was amazing. On our upcoming cruise on Solstice we are really hoping to be able to book a chefs table if one is on offer.
-
We have booked choice air for one way travel from YVR to SYD next year after our B2B cruise.
The cost of the flights was a big concern when we booked the cruise!
I price checked and the best pricing I was able to get was through choice air - I calculated that we saved $400 per person (4 of us travelling).

Thanks everyone! It sounds complicated.

We are booked on the repo and so disappointed that it's been cancelled.
We haven't been contacted yet, hoping we can re book, but
We wanted 14 days + short cruises aren't for us
This worked ok for the school Holidays
We had a cool cabin booked -
My husband already has time booked off - he does shift work, and it's not always easy to get time off
This timing suited my business ok too.
Feels like it is not much notice for a cruise? I would have though changing an itinary less than 12 months out would be a massively frowned upon thing to do?
I'm concerned that they will jack the prices right up now, and offer a stingy obc as compensation.
Oh well, let's wait and see what happens.
