  1. True about the Caesar Salad. However, if you tell them you are vegetarian they will bring you a Caesar dressing without anchovies. My daughter told them she was vegetarian the first night and they told her they would bring her a vegetarian Caesar dressing for her salad and they remembered to the rest of week. My husband and I are pescatarian so we did not mind the dressing. :)

Ah, I didn't know that! Thanks for the tip!

  2. well that is good to know - so even though my time is 1200 I can show up at 11 and I won't be told to go wait outside in the heat? just checking.

Correct, if boarding has begun, then you'll check in and go directly to the ship. If it hasn't, you'll be allowed to wait inside until boarding begins.

    Enjoy!

  3. I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian and there are several options from each category available every night. Like someone said earlier, your friends can order off of the kids menu if there's nothing they like. I often order the kids pasta with marinara (it's a gigantic bowl of pasta by the way). If your friends are vegan, then they'll need to tell the maitre d' the first night so that they can get a special menu for the remainder of the cruise.

Also, since the kitchen produces lots of plates each night, they can't really get a dish "with no meat"; they will simply bring them the dinner and they'll have to pick it out/off.

Keep in mind that a lot of the soups are chicken/beef based. They'll need to ask specifically if they are a vegetable based. I usually just avoid the soup and get a salad and a different appetizer (they can have as many as they want and they can have appetizers as their dinner, too). One other thing that I wanted to clarify is that the caesar salad is not vegetarian; they use anchovies in the dressing.

As far as other meals, there's always the buffet, pizza, room service (pb&j is dear to my heart), and veggie burgers (at Guy's or the burger line...it takes about 10 mins for them to cook it).

    Enjoy your cruise!

  4. My husband and I turned Platinum on the second leg of a b2b cruise, but we were considered Platinum on the first leg of the journey as well. I called Carnival about this a few times and got several different answers. Best thing to do is check your boarding passes for Priority like someone said before. If it's on there for the first leg, then you're considered Platinum the whole time.

  5. My grandmother uses a cane and it is difficult for her to stand/walk for long periods. In Mobile, I requested wheelchair assistance for embarkation/debarkation and it worked out wonderfully! I purchased FTTF for the two guests in the other stateroom, but I don't think I needed to since they allowed all of us to board with her. If you request wheelchair assistance I don't think you'd need to purchase FTTF for her.

I don't know about your situation, but my grandmother did not rent/use a wheelchair once onboard and she had a great time. There are plenty of spots on the public decks to sit if you need a short break.

If you just need the wheelchair for embarkation/debarkation then you just need to check that box online when you are checking in before your cruise.

    Happy cruising!

  6. Can someone please "walk" me through this process. I am a veteran of almost 40 cruises but have never had to do a staggered arrival time. We are a high enough Loyalty member with most of the cruise lines we sail and can usually arrive when it suits us. This being our first Carnival cruise in 23 years I'm unfamiliar with this process. Also this is our first cruise leaving out of New Orleans.

So ............ someone has their arrival time and you get to the port, how do they handle the process?

Do you stand in the line with everyone arriving with all different arrival times and they sort you out as you get to the front of the line?

Do they have different holding areas for different arrival times?

What do I need to know?

If you are Platinum or Diamond (your boarding pass shows "Priority") then you can show up as early as you like and do not have to abide by the assigned check in time.

  7. Almost always the ship will stay on the time zone that it left from. For instance, if you leave from New Orleans the ship would remain on Central time while it was in the Bahamas.

I hope you enjoy your first cruise!

  8. Public shaming of those that held up muster should be done.

Post their pictures on the big screen and all tvs for the first night so we all know who the inconsiderate self absorbed ones are that made everybody else stand in the sun forever..

I know, maybe you should be handed one rock as you line up on deck and then you can stone the people that show up late. Or maybe strip them down and parade them around deck for all to see. </sarcasm>

Jeez...ease up and relax a little bit!

  9. My husband wears khaki pants, an untucked polo shirt, and dress sandals (sometimes flip-flops if I don't catch him before he leaves the room :)).

You can dress up or down as you wish. We don't like to "dress up", so we change back into casual wear right after dinner.

I once saw a young lady in short-shorts with "Bride" written across the back on formal night. I also once saw a man in a sheer, button down shirt. They pretty much allow just about anything to be worn into the dining room. I have to say that my food tastes the same no matter what others are wearing.

  10. You both will get your choice of one appetizer, one entree, one side, and one dessert each. Each one is enough to share with another person (except maybe the dessert). You'll be stuffed by the time you get out of there, I promise! Be sure to try the duck or pork belly appetizer...they are so delicious!

  11. It's something that happens throughout the cruise. The first time, you'll be introduced to the characters and story and then on several days during the cruise you meet up to get clues. At the end you write down your answer and submit it. All of those with the correct answer go into a bin and then a name is drawn. They're softball clues so a lot of people guess correctly.

The first thing was fun...it's a cute production.

    Enjoy!

  12. We will be on the Dream in a few weeks (actually I think we may be on the cruise at the same time).

I've been on the Dream twice before and the first elegant night is usually the second night. The next one is usually two nights before you arrive back in port.
