  1. On the way over you can fly straight through without collecting luggage as long as its booked on one ticket. But on the way back you will need to collect luggage and clear customs since that is you US entry point. Its super easy, after you go through customs they have bagging drop where you leave your bag if its all booked on one ticket. As for how long you need, who knows, I've travelled through LAX twice, first time took less then 20 min, second time about an hour.

  2. Thank you all for your answers, to answer some questions

Are you trying to make the non-stop from Heathrow to Perth? IIRC, that's actually scheduled for a few minutes before midday.

I'm hoping to get the direct flight, which is at 11:55am so only a few minutes before noon. It means 16.5hours travel instead of over 20hrs and that I would be home at lunch time instead of midnight, which is better since Im back to work early the next morning

A critical question is what day of the week this will be.

Ill be flying home on a Sunday, so hopefully traffic wont be bad.

That will be for "unassisted disembarkation"

I always self disembark, I hate waiting around for luggage, so I should be able to get off quickly

    Hi @TT81

I’ll be on this cruise with you for the back to back and I live in Vancouver.  You are welcome to store your luggage at my place.

    Thankyou  for the offer.

I've spoke to the hotel and I'm going to leave my luggage there and it will cost about the same as paying for checked baggage on the return flights

  4. Hi,

After my Alaska cruise I disembark in Vancouver, the same day I get of the ship Ill be getting on a train to The Rockies for a couple of days before heading back to Vancouver for a few days. Ill really prefer not to take my suitcase with me to the Rockies (planning to take a smaller back pack). Can any one recommend somewhere that does Multiple day Luggage storage near the cruise terminal or train station? I've emailed the hotel I'm staying at when I return to Vancouver to see if they can store my suitcase but thought I'd ask here for other options.

    TIA

NCL isn't offering their cruise train transfer from ANC to Seward day of cruise ??

A bit surprised as we've used the train transfer with RCI early May from Seward to ANC. Hope you called NCL directly to check this out.

I asked on the chat feature and was told at this stage they are still finalizing excursions with local providers, so it may still be added but at this point its not an option

  6. I'm on the cruise after you (leaving Seward May8) at this stage the only company I've found offering transfers is Alaska Cruise Transfer or airport transfer from NCL. I was hoping to take the train but it doesn't seem to be running that early in the season.

I'm booked on the same cruise, unfortunately the train doesn't start until the 13th so I'm waiting to see what options NCL offer or ill book the bus

  8. Hi all,

Im booked to cruise to Alaska next year and I was checking out shore excursions on the NCL page. At the bottom of all the excursions in icy strait point it says

*For dates beginning in 2023 and beyond, an All Access Pass will be included with your tour.**

Does any one know what an An All access pass is for?

    Thanks

  9. Hi all,

This is a little confusing but we are booked to cruise on the POA in Hawaii in a couple of weeks and just trying to figure out if we will need to get another covid test. The situation is that we fly from Australia to Honolulu on the Thursday before boarding, we need to get tested Thursday morning Australia time to enter the US and I know we need to get tested in the 2 days before boarding the ship, which is Thursday. Because of the time difference Thursday morning on the east coast of Oz is Wednesday afternoon in Hawaii so I'm just trying to figure out if the test we get done in Australia will be accepted as being within 2 days or if we need to figure out testing in Honolulu.

    Thanks for any help

We are hopefully cruising on POA in July and not flying out until Monday so we will need to find somewhere in Honolulu before we leave to get the RAT. It is a real POA (not Pride of America!!)

It’s the same going there, it needs to be less then 24hrs old, which is a real pain from perth since you need to stop (and our stop over is 24 hrs) so we need to find somewhere in Sydney to get tested on the way over.

  11. We are planning to go on the POA in April (fingers crossed) and we go straight to the airport to fly home the day the cruise finishes. To get back in to Australia we will need a supervised negative covid test that no more then 3 days old, does any one know if we can get it done on the ship or do I need to find somewhere in port to get it done?

    Thanks

  12. We are hopefully heading of on the Pride of America soon and trying to decide on what to do in each port. Since we drive on the opposite side of the road here we're not really comfortable driving so hiring a car is out. We are after a tour that sees some nature sites, maybe waterfalls or Waimea Canyon, Just wondering if any one can recommend any tours (either NCL or other provider)?

    Thanks

  13. Mine wasn't on a cruise, but I was travelling. I experienced the pick pockets with the paper in London, luckily we stopped them from taking a friends phone. In Malaysia we got a taxi to the Petronas Tower and the taxi driver told us there was a 150 Ringgit more then what was on the meter because of where he dropped us off. We refused to pay so he wanted our hotel details to collect the money later. We gave him the amount the meter said, and got out of there as quick as we could.

  14. There are 1000s of Driver’s in Bali, some better then others so By “choose a driver” I used to ask around for recommendations from people I know (I live only a few hours flight from Bali so it’s a popular holiday destination for friends and family). Now a days I have a favourite driver so I always use Yan at Yan Bali tour service or if he is busy I’ll book one of his friends

  15. There are 1000s of Driver’s in Bali no matter where you go you can find drivers so there will be no issues finding someone at the port. I prefer to prebook someone who was referred so that you know it’s someone good & trustworthy.

With food, stick to cafe/restaurants that look clean, most places in tourist areas are pretty good now a days just avoid street food or anywhere that looks dirty.

  16. Choose a driver, tell him what kind of things you like (temples, nature, animals) and he would probably have some suggestions. Personally I’ve really enjoy ubud with the monkey forest, rice fields & temples. Also love the beaches in Sanur.

  17. Been to Bali many times, once on a cruise, the other times flown there. I usually organise a driver in advance, I use Yan Bali Tour Service and organise it through facebook messenger. In general Indonesian people are so lovely and speak fairly good English since so much of their economy is based on tourism. Driver prices are usually per day (8 hours) or per half day but if you want to travel a long way they may charge a bit more. If you have a list of places you would like to see a driver can help you organise the best way to see, any tickets needed and timings and you can book them for as many days as needed but if they are busy they usually have other drivers they can organise, you just pay cash to the driver at the end of the day. The cruise terminal in Bali was fairly basic, pretty sure it had wifi, a few small shops and there was a market just outside the fence.

The airport is recently renovated so much nicer now then it used to be, security  and customs lines move fairly quickly so dont need to allow extra time. If you are getting taxi on the street make sure it a proper metered blue bird taxi or agree to a price before you get in (some drivers will rip you off)
