  1. HI

Where is anyone staying in Limon the night before? Looking at schedules for Colon and Limon it might be better to fly into Costa Rica than Panama. That would require a shuttle to Limon and an overnight stay near the port before the cruise.

What are anyone's plans who are flying into San Jose on to Limon to get the ship?

Was just in Costa Rica on the Norwegian Pearl and the road from the port to the rainforest was a good road so I would assume getting between the airport and the port would be good.

Any suggestions on transfers and hotel the night before would be appreciated.

    thanks

    Hi Pat,

We are doing the 10 May ex Colon and the 25 May ex Lisbon. We have decided to fly into Panama on Spirit Airlines (FLL) then stay a couple of days in Panama City before taking a transfer to Colon on 10 May. We decided on the Veneto Hotel and Casino who are doing the airport/hotel and hotel/port transfers. They were very helpful.

Hi bobnjeff, below is an answer on PO Cruises website. Hope it helps!

A:We will generally allow a small, reasonable amount to be taken on board for you to enjoy in your cabin, however taking bottles of alcohol into restaurants or lounges will incur a corkage fee of £15 (prices are subject to change) per item (any size) per occasion.

Should you wish to take alcohol on board to celebrate an event, the number of bottles you may take on will be at the port authorities' discretion and you will be charged a corkage fee.

We reserve the right to confiscate alcohol at the gangway, which will be returned to you at the end of your cruise. It is not our intention to invoke this policy as a matter of course and we will implement it only when we consider it is likely that the health, comfort, safety and enjoyment of passengers may otherwise be compromised.

There are a variety of bars on board each of our ships offering a range of beverages at competitive prices. Beverages can also be purchased in our restaurants and your cabin.

    Regards,

  3. :)Thank you Ron,

We thoroughly appreciate all your comments and tips. Looking forward to the trip, forgot to mention when we finish the SOTS cruise we leave straight away on NCL Norwegian Jade, so it will be interesting to compare the two. We are also Vegas lovers having been several times. Might catch up with you next time we are there for a drink or two!

    Thanks again,

  4. I had the best Greek food that I've ever had in by life in the Plaka. It was some-kind of Vegetarian eggplant entree dish: yummy.

The OP didn't state how long (hours) they will be in Athens, so hard to make any suggestions.

We did the Hop-on/Hop-off bus, which was nice. My only complaint is that we ran of of time. We had to get back our ship, the RCCL Splendour of the Seas, otherwise we would have explored the Plaka more and bought some of the packaged olives to take home.

It can get really hot up on the Acropolis, so you might want to do that before lunch.

    Hi Ron98GT,

We are travelling on RCCL SOTS on 23 August. What is the ship like? Also we are planning to do the hop on hop off in Piraeus/Athens. Is the bus pickup at the cruise terminal? As you ran out of time, what would you recommend to see/not see in our limited 7/8 hours in port? Also what was the mix of nationalities and ages on board the ship?:):)

    Thanks for your comments.

    Kerry & Steve
