  1. OK, you are going on a cruise. The rules say to wear certain clothes on certain days. You decide that it is your cruise so you don't do this.

You are driving down a road. The sign says not to enter because it is a one way street. You decide that this is your road ( paid by your taxes) so you enter anyway.

My point is that you know what is expected of you before the cruise. If you do not agree with the rules, why even go?

  2. We always take into consideration all of the combinable perks on Princess. It is especially impressive on the longer cruises. $250 shareholder, $250 military, $250 fcc, $50 Princess incentive (over 30 cruises) and whatever our travel agent gives us plus our bar set up, free laundry, free internet. Added together this usually beats out a lower price on another line.
This said, we sail Celebrity every year for the 1,2,3 promo. Usually it is a kind of yearly reunion of friends and family.
No matter where we go or what we pay, we always have a great time.
  3. We have cruised on all of the lines. All have their pros & cons. As far as perks go, Princess is the ultimate (IMO). We get free internet, unlimited laundry & dry cleaning, a bar set up, priority tenders, discount in all shops.

Also, it is the only cruise line that let's you combine future cruise certificates, stockholder credit, military credit ($100) & ship credit from your travel agent.

If another line has a deal we go with them but only if it is 7 days.

  4. If you rebook, you do not lose the stockholder, military, or FCC credits. If "past guest" refers to the $ for over 20 cruises, you do not lose that either. If there is a price drop befor final payment, your travel agent should be giving this to you without any BS. If not, I would start considering another agent.

  5. You are basically paying for the split of champagne. The rest consists of what you can get at the buffet.

When this breakfast first started, it included crab legs and berries in 1/2 cantaloupe. We were so impressed that we pre ordered 2 for our next cruise. When we saw what they had changed it to, we canceled the remaining breakfast.

  6. Please let us know if you DO get your phone back. I left my phone plugged in the room when we left. I called Princess that evening and was told the same thing about everything being sent to to their office. I knew people on the next segment and e mailed them to ask the new people in our room if they had found it. They even asked the room attendant ( who turned it in to lost & found). lost & found would not confirm or deny that they had it????? What's up with that?

Bottom line, after phone calls to every phone number I could find, I was never called back by anyone and never got back my phone. No one knew where it was and everyone blamed it on someone else.

A phone can be replaced but replacing all your contacts is a pain and the pictures are impossible to replace.

Princess employees must all be walking around with nice, pricey phones!

  7. On our South American cruise

The weather was so bad that we were the only Princess ship to not go around the horn. Instead we had to go through the Straits of Magellan. There was a typhoon with 60 ft waves for more than 2 full days. The captain pulled in the stabilizers which made for a rougher ride. On the second day he took a route behind some islands to give us a break from the weather. I had a waterproof bag packed with ID, pills etc. in case we needed to evacuate! We were a day late getting into Valparasio and the passengers were all given free telephone time to make new arrangements or reassure family who were waiting to hear from them. Luckily we were staying on until San Fran so this did not impact us. Many people were flying home on disembarking day. (Never, never, never!!!!!)

On a happy note....one couple from New Zealand were being charged well over $1,000 to change their airline tickets. they won the final bingo which more than paid for this.

  8. In my opinion, the biggest perk is being able to combine benefits.

    Future cruise credit

    Stockholders credit

    Military credit

    Travel agent credit

    Princess 123 promotion

Welcome back $ ( for over 21 cruises)

On our upcoming 17 day cruise, this comes to $1,100.....nice way to start a cruise!

  9. Have you ever cruised before? If no , you will not know that there is any difference. If this is your first cruise, I think I would rather have a balcony on MSC than an ocean view on Princess. The point is to have a good time.

Yes, Princess is a whole lot better ( my opinion) and my favorite, but I have been on most cruise lines and have had fun on every one.

    Happy anniversary!

  10. This is my pet peeve!

24 cruises on Princess ( several 30 day) and never an upgrade or up sell. Usually no specific room and always listed to be upgraded. We too buy casino credits for on board. Have cruised on birthdays & anniversaries. If there is some magic formula, it has escaped me.

We were upgraded on another line on a first cruise with them (outside to balcony). We were not impressed enough to cruise again with them.

Reward your loyal customers Princess, don't insult them!

  11. Miched,

This sounds like our life story too! We worked hard, (worked 30 yrs, hope to travel 30...12 down, 18 to go. LOL) raised & educated 3 children, (gave them the means to support themselves) still live in our original house and do our own repairs etc.

We have done almost 40 cruises, (never a suite) been to all the continents and have done numerous month long land tours. When we are gone our children will be left with what they can sell and memories of how to live life to the fullest.

  12. Princess uses travel guard insurance. We needed it (unfortunately) while on an Asian cruise. Since we did not book it through Princess but on our own, it covered all independent arrangements that we had made. They paid last minute air fare from Korea to Atlanta (where my mother was ill), paid for an airport day room, repaid non refundable rental car fees for one of the ports, cab fares, and reimbursed us for the remaining days of our cruise. (There may be more)

Princess gave us free use of their telephone for making arrangements - our preference to do it ourselves.

We paid for everything up front but were repaid to the penny when we submitted the receipts.

The insurance was the same as Princess uses for less money and more benefits. Booked through Princess only covers Princess related travel & activities.
