  1. Anyone have this problem. Booked on March 31 Quest sailing. Called my T/A to cancel that sailing and re-book for Jan 4 2018 38 days.

We had to cancel as my daughter has Cancer and is not responding to the Chemo and must undergo a new toxic treatment followed by a stem cell transplant. We don't know what the immediate future will hold.

I was not able to cancel by Nov 1 as we did not know the medical situation.

First time to call was Nov 7....they won't let us roll-over the deposit to the next cruise, and might not even give the deposit back!!!!

We have sailed with them over 160 days...

Anyone know who to talk to at Seabourn....

    Thank you so much.

So sorry for your daughter, hope the treatments work for her. I'm sure SB will be sympathetic, If not forget the money and focus on getting you daughter well. Sincerely best wishes.

  2. I take it that doing the phantom booking thing was just not that helpful. Since we leave a week early I may not know our suite number until we walk up to the ship.

I still got the suite SB planned so it was only interesting to understand how their last minute selling works. I'm sure you will have a wonderful cruise. Do enjoy.

  3. We are sailing on Odyssey on 7 December , gty and am beginning to look forward to the actual suite assignment. A bit early but fun to watch for.

You are correct lots of anticipation, and I've not seen anyone disappointed. Don't go crazy like did making phantom bookings to see which suites remain available! You can always tell when the upsell offers are flying around as certain categories go ask for availability for a few days then mysteriously reappear. Great game.

  4. We have had many cruises on Silverseas, but have booked last minute yesterday for Odyssey 5th November. V1 suite or above not sure what to expect. Any advice ?

No experience of Silversea but expect excellent service, lovely crew, smooth sailings. Good food wherever you chose to dine. Your suite even V1 will be great, nicely full fridge/bar. Veranda a great place for a sundowner. Observation bar / lounge a favourite for me, very civilised. Enjoy. I don't have any but check out the referrals stickie you might qualify for some on board credit.

  5. Two days ago I was able to see over 30 cabins "available" on the Seabourn website for our October 21st Montreal to FLL cruise. As of yesterday, all categories showed up as "call".

10 days ago it showed over 70 available. Wonder how crowded the ship will be.

It'll be full I would guess. I suspect the suites go on "call" during periods of up selling.

  6. Just got assignment for Canada to Ft. Lauderdale 14 day cruise

Was assigned cabin 521. I am happy that it is midship and will

have no balcony to our left. I was worried about possibility of smokers on both sides so this is good. However will there be noise from the

elevator? I have written to my TA for info. I wonder if there will be any upsell offers? Will the TA left me know? I am using the agency that works with Seabourn Cadence. If you are on a cruise now could you ask someone by the elevators if it is an issue? I know that is asking a lot.

    :o

We were 534 on Odyssey so no issue but those elevators are so silent, I fell asleep riding to the observation lounge, or was it from? Only the voice of the lively lady telling me quietly the floor woke me. I don't think I have heard of elevator noise on Seabourn.

Enjoy your cruise. You will have quick access to observation lounge.

  7. I am new to this Board and Forum, and, for that matter, to Seabourn itself (although a long time member of some other busy travel boards). Don't want to get in the way of the moderators, but it seems to me that we have strayed wildly off the topic of "guaranteed/open suites".

Do we perhaps need a new thread for those who want to discuss celebrity sightings and the pros and cons, etiquette etc. of identifying by name, or mentioning them at all?

    Done

  8. It's great to know that celebrities chose to holiday with Seabourn, and if they post in the forum they will identify themselves or not. I had the pleasure of travelling with 3 accomplished entertainers last week on Odyssey, but I wouldn't dream of naming them. Good luck and fortune to all who value their private lives.

  9. Back ashore now in Venice Airport. Suite 534 was excellent, no noise, negligible movement. Just fine. Quite a few changes since we last sailed. Food and serving wines improved, NF still pretty naff. Amazed to find the grill closed on two nights out of seven, also reservations required or recommended on all nights in Colonnade. Observation lounge early morning coffee gone, evening help yourself canapes gone. Crew still excellent but stretched. Good to see a few celeb S on board, and credit to all they were not pestered at all.

  10. On our 68-day cruise we were never ever invited to a hosted table. Maybe we were being shunned due to personal hygiene problems? Anyway it was weird. Still we had great success in putting together convivial parties amongst fellow passengers, and we do enjoy the company of just us 2. But it did leave us wondering what is the Seabourn policy regarding composing the hosted tables. Solo travelers? Folks who requested hosted tables? Folks who demanded personal escorts?

Always check in with guest services and express a preference, yes or no to hosting. We are on Odyssey and had a wonderful dinner for 7 hosted by Jon Delaunay, super pianist and very amusing and entertaining attentive host. (The invitation just arrived) Lucky you to have 68 days😋💚

  11. What is the punishment suite?? And Isklaar how far out from sailing are you? Wondering when upsells appear ...?

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Don't worry we are all joking, all the suites are delightful. Some slightly more so than others but still massively above average. There is no punishment suite!

  12. It's actually never occurred to me to barter with them before I read your posts. I may give it a try if they send a second offer.

In all fairness SB did make a small improvement on the offer in their second upsell, not enough to tempt me but they tried. Should be half way to Athens in 48 hours!

  13. And so it begins.

TA messaged me earlier to let me know he's expecting some upsell offers today.

He knows I'm not likely to take an upsell because he knows I'm happy to book the higher suites when I specifically want one. This time I decided that I'd be more than happy with a veranda suite, don't need or want a 'better' one.

He's going to send the offers to me for my perusal but I won't bite!

As I'm going to refuse, it will be interesting to see if an improved offer comes closer to departure date.

And if I end up with The Punishment Suite.

    Save

Well I didn't end up in punishment suite, for sure, despite putting in a counter offer to the second upsell. It's only business after all. Good luck with your holiday.

  14. We had found these groups on 7 day beach trips and seemed to be some sort of corporate reward. They must have had meetings during the day and were then "off" in the evenings. It was certainly a younger demo than usual but added some fun to the nightlife. The cruise consultant was mentioning to us that it is a great way to introduce the younger people to a different style of cruising than they may be used to......... I would like to add one more question. Due to work scheduling and cutting it close on time.... does anyone use the Seabourn flight arrangements? We are trying to see if we can pull this off as easily as possible and try our first Seabourn cruise. Thanks again.

I only use Seabourn Air. The thought of scrabbling around following a delayed flight fills me with terror, im a gambler but not suicidal. If you get really lucky they will book you on a flight which doesn't work for them and then change the flight to a say earlier. If this happens happy days we had a complimentary night at the Grand Bretagne in Athens. Delightful, and chauffeur Mercedes all the way. No we were not in PH or better, deck 4!!!

  15. This thread has been interesting and intriguing this last week. I tune in to see how DIVSEC did and still no solution. I'll bet we find out tomorrow.

Mostly interesting to see the process as we are in an OB for the crossing in December. I really think I'll find out our suite assignment as we exit the Taxi in Lisbon as we will be in Portugal a week prior. I doubt we will have as much drama though. Best of luck with the crew quarters:-)

Hallelujah V2 Deck 5 port side. Thanks SB for a couple of weeks fun and expectation. Bless you all for staying with me on this long and arduous journey.

  16. It is such an (apparently) random process, isn't it? From what I've been able to ascertain, the shorter the cruise, the higher the likelihood of a decent suite. I know last summer when we were sailing with my mother, who, unlike us, was only on for 7 days, she got a PH, when we got a V1. She has done 500+ days - i don't know whether that makes a difference, but i doubt it as i have met a significant number of first time Seabourners who have been allocated a Owners' Suite and even a Wintergarden.

I do rather feel as though we will have reason to open the NF when you get your suite allocation, Divsec. Looking forward to hearing that you have a home!

Nothing yet Sandy, I think that NF will be a cold beer in the crew quarters at this rate. Still they are all so good and friendly, as indeed are the passengers so it won't make a lot of difference. PS would be nice, do they get soot from the smoke stack during the day. Ruined a couple of shirts that way a few years ago!

  17. Good questions!

We booked on the same day, with the same UK TA. I'm towards the beginning of the alphabet (D). Friends are J and T. They were allocated a V5 on deck 6, I was allocated a V6 on deck 8. I'd have preferred their allocation actually. When I'm choosing a veranda suite I always go for midship deck 6, it's my preferred location.

Agree about the anticipation. I've just over 3 weeks before mine. :D

    Save

No rhyme or reason to it. I have just checked my reservation and the embark and disembark information has gone missing. I bet they send me to a different port and forget to send the ship. Thanks all who are participating in my holiday!
