Westbound TAs tend to be more popular than eastbound — higher demand, higher price....but there are also always random factors that can affect prices, so keep the crystal ball handy.

More hammocks.

Of course, when you travel will also make some difference -- during school breaks even Celebrity has a lot more families onboard -- but overall the above comments are right. Celebrity is a bit more refined but still fun & enjoyable. I like the options of enrichment lectures or activities like cooking classes.
Bon voyage!

Agreed, where you are sailing from can make a substantial difference in how impressive the sights are during your sail-away. For example, leaving from Manhattan and watching the NYC (and NJ) skyline go by is pretty great. When you add the Statue of Liberty to that, it can be downright incredible!
Additionally, where you are on the particular ship can make a difference. I enjoyed an especially great sail-away at an outdoor bar in the aft part of the ship -- and this was despite it being pretty cold and a bit rainy!
Of course, often the best plan is to remain open to spontaneous fun.
Enjoy the ride.

In brief, overall, Celebrity has much more of an elegant touch (without being snobbish). Specifically, there is no comparison between the MDR food and service on Norwegian vs Celebrity -- Celeb wins, hands down.
That isn't to say NCL doesn't have great ships and itineraries...
Enjoy!

Am curious as to whether anyone knows what is the cutoff for a last-minute booking (one day? two?), and have you ever dared to book right at that point? How crazy was it?
Yes, I am considering pulling the trigger (so to speak) on a last-minute adventure though it would require some scrambling to get the laundry done, find the warm weather shoes, etc. Maybe I will need a vacation just to recover from getting ready for a vacation...?
Thanks for any insight. Happy sailing!

I understand the basis for why there is a single supplement, but am outraged that some cruise lines are posting fares that have supplements that are two or three times the amount of an additional person. Princess and RCL seem to be especially guilty of this lately. A wag of the finger!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but no T-pool on the Reflection.

It does not have much “local flavor” ambience, and is probably a bit more expensive than most of the other suggestions here, but for simply a truly great meal in Halifax, we would recommend The Bicycle Thief.
It is is along the waterfront, and is ranked quite high on TripAdvisor. You can check it out at:

Enjoy!
