    We have been several times.

Last time we were in port 12-6. I have several observations but personally would not go again with those hours.

By the time you have walked through the port to meeting point, wait for arranged transport and travelled it is best part of an hour before you arrive. IF there happens to be another ship docking at that time (check port hours) they will halt disembarkation temporarily which can also cause a delay getting off which has happened to us.

Not sure if your posted hours are local times? Costa Maya is on EST year round so when we travel from Galveston at that time our ship time is an hour behind local time. This is important because sunset is about 6.30 local time so it is dark when we were returning. Makes the afternoon short and you will recall the route is dark and bumpy.

Although lunch was provided as usual it was basically 2pm biological clock by the time we ate and personally I didn’t really want to eat much at that time. YMMV.

Finally because the visit was so short we tried to take the last recommended taxi back when they came round to sign up, probably 4.30pm. I understand that was our decision. Transport had always been very reliable previously when we have visited so we felt comfortable choosing this. However as luck would have it this time taxi was 20 minutes late arriving which left us much too close for comfort returning to the ship. Although not quite as far as the meeting point it is still a long walk from taxi drop off back to the ship, fortunately we are relatively mobile.

If it was a first visit I would probably go for the experience on the understanding it will be short however since we have been before I would only go with reasonable port hours now. Some people will say they always go to Maya Chan no matter how short the visit is.

    Thank you so much!

  2. Hi all!  BF and I are cruising on the Prima at the end of February and I'm looking for advice.  We booked Maya Chan (I have been there before, he has not) but now I'm rethinking because we were originally in port from 8-5, and now it's 12-8 (so all aboard would be 6:00 PM).  I just wonder if it's worth it by the time we get off the ship, walk to transport, drive, etc...and then turn around and leave at what 4:30?  Should we just do the Krazy Lobster?

Reservations opened at, I believe, 25 days out for Haven. I believe at 21 days out, at check in, everyone could book. It was not full, so you were also able to book once on board. The only thing that wasn't really advertised well, there was nametag pick up for 3-4 hours during the day before the show.

    Thank you so much!

Are you saying that the ropes course is being eliminated on the Escape ??

It’s not confirmed, but most people seem to think so.  They have added the go-karts to the last 3 ships of that caliber, so speculation is they will do the same in dry dock.

  5. Hi all,

Husband and I are going on a 20th anniversary sans kids in April 2020.  Both cruises are the same week, and have Work conferences for me so we get cheap rates and my cruise is technically “free.”  The Symphony will visit Coco Cay, St. Kitts, and St. Thomas.  Harmony will visit Coco Cay, San Juan, and St. Maarten.  We have done several western cruises but no Eastern.  We were in the Harmony last April with the kids and enjoyed it.  I guess I’m just wondering which ship others would choose.  We have never cruised out of PC, only Everglades or Miami.  Thank you for your help!

No official informations at the moment. At fall 2020 there is only a gap with 5 days at the moment at two Southampton cruises. That should be not enough time for a big dry dock ( getaway was about 14 days ). So if they are not cancel cruises the next big gap is at spring 2021.

    Thank you!

  7. Hi all!  I'm wondering if there is any way to know for certain when the Escape will go into dry dock?  I originally read fall 2020, but then read April 2021?  We are considering changing our December 2020 cruise from the Encore to the Escape, but we do not want to switch if the ropes course will have been removed from the Escape (which I just assume is occurring, but obviously isn't know for sure).  Also, any opinions on the switch are more than welcome.  We will be in the Haven either way, so not super concerned about open deck space, but my kids really enjoyed the ropes course and I do not think the go karts and laser tag will be as much of a hit.

Looks like Breakaway is dropping off supplies as well. They arrived sometime after 4pm. And they were unloading pallets from the promenade deck. We did not see any guests leaving the ship but it isn’t to say that they weren’t.

There were at least 2 loaded trucks and more to go as there were just as many, if not more pallets of products on the ship.

I believe the Breakaway dropped it's passengers in New Orleans, and then sailed with just crew to Miami to be loaded for the trip to the Bahamas.  They cancelled the cruise that was supposed to sail this week.

Will the next cruise be allowed to board at the new port? Like, would it continue "business as usual"?

No.  NCL has already cancelled the “next” sailing of the Breakaway, which was supposed to depart yesterday I believe.  I assume Breakaway will go back to Florida empty and be loaded with provisions for the “next-next” cruise sailing next weekend.  I will also say that by all accounts, RCL has handled this entire situation MUCH better than NCL.
