  1. I'm a nurse and have ready access to a great travel medicine clinic in our hospital so we took advantage of that. Our infectious disease doc did his homework and recommended Hepatitis A & typhoid vaccines (at least a month before traveling).  We both work in healthcare, so we were current with our annual flu, Hepatitis B, & TdAP vaccines.  There is an outbreak of Dengue fever in the area - of which there is no preventative vaccine.  It is a mosquito-borne illness, so protect yourself from bites using a DEET based spray or lotion.  Here's more on that from the CDC:  https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices/watch/dengue-asia

It's important to note this from the article, "According to the International Shark Attack File of the Florida Museum of Natural History, there have been only six confirmed unprovoked shark attacks reported since 1580 in French Polynesia."

Don't think we have much to worry about 😉

Well that makes 7 in 439 years. I think we're good for a while.

  3. Today was "excursion booking day" for the PG 12/7 sailing & I'm glad I set my alarm for 4am to do it.  We've booked PG's Lagoon Excursion & Polynesian feast on Day 1 on Bora Bora, and then PG's ATV tour on Moorea!  We've also booked Marc's Motu Picnic on Huahine & Pure Snorkeling on Day 2 on Bora Bora.  We still have a couple of days on Moorea pre-cruise to figure out, but I'm honestly looking forward to just hanging around & relaxing at the IC Moorea.  Either way - the countdown clock is really ticking now!!!

  4. I would be VERY hesitant to put that dress in any water - it may dry unevenly and leave all kinds of water stains.  Go to the dry cleaner and ask for suggestions on how to clean this.  They may have other ideas rather than dry cleaning it.  OR - the other thing you could do is try those Dryell dry-cleaning sheets but instead of putting the dress into the bag it comes with, try cutting the Dryell sheet in half, turning the dress inside out, and just put the dress in the dryer with the sheet. That'll give you a test run - if it does ok like that, you can turn it right-side out and just tumble dry it with a regular fabric softener sheet to remove the pet hair.

  5. We are also flying from Boston but staying overnight  in LA then taking the 11pm flight to Papeete. We’re big fans of Jetblue and their direct flights to LA. Once we land in Papeete, we’re heading over to Moorea  precruise. Post cruise we are leaving PPT at midnight and landing around 9am in LA. Our Jetblue Boston flight leaves at 1pm. We are also traveling in November/December, so I like to have a buffer on the way there in case of bad weather here. BTW - the Jetblue credit card often has a nice 40k mile bonus for new members. Those miles took care of our US flights.

  6. So enjoyed this review!  Thanks for taking the time to post your experiences and all your beautiful photos.  I am curious about this Anniversary Dinner.  We are booked for the 12/7/19 sailing and will be celebrating our 20th anniversary on 12/8.  We have pre-arranged to do a vow renewal, but I am also interested in the anniversary dinner you spoke of.  How do you go about booking this in advance? Is there a way to email the cruise line?

I am thinking of leaving LAX on December 3.  I already booked 3 nights at Hilton moorea( used some points).  That is as far as I got. Let me know if you see decent air out there and I will do likewise

Just booked our air out of LAX using a search engine last night.  Around $1100 pp on Air Tahiti Nui.  I was getting a little nervous not having things nailed down. We also decided to stay at the Intercontinental Moorea using PG's pre-cruise package for 3 nights, plus a day room at the Tahitian Pearl post cruise.  Interesting that the IC Moorea is undergoing renovations so they're including dinner every night as a comp for guests for any inconvenience.   I just feel better knowing it's all booked from airport arrival to airport departure.  Now the waiting...……..

We keep going back and forth between a cruise or staying on Bora Bora at the Four Seasons for the whole trip.  It certainly is a difficult decision.

Well - here's the thing.  If you're on Bora Bora the entire time, that's the only thing you'll get to see.  But if you're on the ship, you'll visit several islands and then you can pick your favorite one to hang out on the next time you travel there 😉 .  My daughter honeymooned at the Four Seasons Bora Bora in April, 2017 and just loved it there.

It looks like we will be doing your exact itinerary!

We will be staying a few days with my daughter in LA, then leaving on 12/3 for Papeete  & arriving 12/4 for Moorea for 3 nights. I'm still looking for a good deal at the Hilton.

We will be on your cruise!   What a great way to celebrate your anniversary!  I can't wait to have air and everything else confirmed.

    MNMomof4 - Also a mom of 4 here.  LOL.

We are pricing out doing our own air out of LAX,  staying pre-cruise on Moorea for 3 nights (Hilton?), and trying to figure out what to do the last day - book a tour, try to get a day room, ???  Still lots of time, but I like to research and figure it out in a timely fashion.

  11. My kids 25, 22, and 19 still love going on vacations with us but I would be the one knocking on their door getting them up if they were sleeping half the day. p

I'm with you on that one, Coldweathergirl!

Seriously - my 4 "kids" are all adults now, however if my 21 year-old & 16 year-old were "depressed" and whining about ANYTHING while on a cruise I paid for, I would send them packing at the first port. Expecting the kitchen to whip up a special soup to cheer them up? I give Celebrity 3 gold stars for the staff even making an attempt to cheer up these poor waifs.

You're on a vacation - stop focusing on the little things and realize how lucky you are to have the funds to even go on such a vacation at all. Life is rarely perfect - however, unless I'm quarantined in my cabin & missing my luggage - I'm going to make the most of the time at sea, fresh air, sunshine, and someone making me a "drink of the day"!
