  1. It sounds like the OP was never really a big Cruiser. The folks on here are addicted to cruising for the most part and will argue every point.

I enjoy cruising but it is not my favorite vacation. I love our annual Hawaii vacation we have friends who live there but some folks I know do not like going there.

The port in Orlando is horrible last year we had a similar experience but its only a few hours out of your day then you are on a cruise so we just put up with it.

Now the food we all know it used to be better. But the majority of what we eat is good.

A TA cruise is not my thing because you will have crowded areas everywhere during popular times a day and no one is getting off the ship to explore.

I was staying several nights at a guest house attached to a governmental installation in a third world country.  After a couple of mornings an employee implored me to stop making my bed because she was supposed to make it.  Being a democratic sort of person I said it did not seem right to me because, after all, I do not make her bed so why should she have to make mine?  She said she needed her job and might get in trouble if I kept cleaning up after myself.  Whoops!  I stopped, of course.

This happened to me almost identical. At the time I did not realize the cleaning crew were treated like slaves and bad things probably happen to them if they did not do there job right.

Disgusting if you ask me You could not force me to go to those places again.

@detroitlions I have heard so many people comment things like this and I always wonder when they are cruising? I say this because I have never noticed the Haven being overrun with kids (and believe me I would notice; not a fan of unruly kids - ruly ones are ok 🤣). We cruise almost exclusively in January with Carribbean itineraries. We also spend a lot of time on the sundeck and the casino so that might be why we don't notice them so much either. I'm just curious what time of year you cruise?

PS - love your screen name - we live in the suburbs of Detroit and love our Lions! 🦁 So nice that they are finally giving us something to cheer for!

So yes your right unfortunately I usually have to cruise during high season which there are more kids. Which my last Joy cruise a few weeks ago there were not a lot of kids or young adults. Except folks were complaining about all the kids in the Haven on the Joy I was not in there just folks I met in the Vibe told me.

Oh and thanks for the screen name thumbs up. I grew up near Detroit and I have not lived there in 20 years but I still love the Lions and always will. I thought they were going to the Super Bowl this past season so close.

I'm annoyed enough that on my next cruise I will blatantly abuse absolutely everything.... except the lobster tail.  Clearly they only consider multiple lobsters to be excessive.  Since that's the only charge for additional food in the Haven, I will be eating a full cow's worth of filet.  Surf and turf and turf and turf and turf and turf and turf and turf?  Yes please!

You defiantly will be eating a cows worth of fillet (The only beef that was any good on my last cruise). The other cuts of beef are either not on the menu anymore or are flat out poor fatty cuts of meat.

For you my friend, for you!

    Go Sabres!!

That's funny! I mean to be honest most of the time you can get in the Haven cheaper with the Bid process or with price drops.

If it is just me and the DW I like the Haven. If I am with a group of people not so much.

My biggest problem is all the kids in the Haven every time crowded with kids.

    Alabama as well.

You have to have a picture ID which they photo copy they want to know where you live and who you are so they can bill you. A lot of folks like to scam and not pay there bill. Folks even get mad when they want to see ID to vote remember

  7. The things I see every cruise in the Buffet amazes me. There is never a lack of rudeness, entertainment, or discussing behavior.

As for some cruises being full of rude folks more than others I can see this in a way where I live in Florida. You have folks from all over the country cramming in the state with different behaviors you are not used too. Loud rude folks, arrogant folks, the aggressive way they drive there cars.

My favorite is when one of these folks will say this is horrible where I am from its much better. I always smile and say I think you should move back it will not get any better here.

I love the folks in the dentist or dr office who pull out there out of state expired ID from there Louie Vuitton bag wearing there Lou Lou Lemon outfit and explain why they don't have the $50 co pay in cash or credit card.

    so many examples every day.

  8. Just off the Joy there is no smoking in Spice H20. Smoking was allowed in the casino enclosed area the smoke jail on the pool deck and cigars in the humidor. The did not create the area near the humidor for cigarettes' like originally announced.

We were on the same cruise with you.

I'm curious if you went to see the comedians? We thought they were awful, like embarrassingly terrible. We couldn't believe that people even laughed, although we saw many people sitting like us, obviously wondering where was the comedy.

We really enjoyed the other entertainment, especially Elements and the Flying Fefelovs.

We saw the comedians they were ok

What was it like having your son on board just turning drinking age plus 5 friends? Did you see him atall during the cruise or was he out getting ripped at the nightclub?

If I was a parent, this kind of cruise would be a nightmare for me…my kid just turning drinking age with unlimited drinks plus 5 drinking age friends?

Lawd have moicey, I wouldn’t be able to sleep.

It was all good my son and his friends are very respectful for the most part. We saw him at dinner and after dinner almost every day. during the day we all did separate things unless we were on the islands together

  11. We did the Joy March 16th to the 23rd.

For the most part all of us had a great time on the cruise this was my sons 21st birthday cruise he brought 5 friends they all did 2 per room some balcony's some insides. My DW and our 2 friends had balcony and club balcony and we did the Vibe passes.

I must say the Vibe on the Joy is my favorite out of all the Vibes I have been on which is most of the Breakaway and plus ships.

It is huge and the top floor is as big as the bottom floor we mostly hung out on the bottom floor.

The service and bar staff were awesome.

Some of the ship area layout were not my favorite we did not like the casino it was chopped up and seemed small.

    The observation area was awesome.

The Humidor was in a weird area there is no bar near it like maltings either.

Entertainment I liked the elements show. We did not like the game shows and there was not many bands or singers anywhere.

For smokers this is probably not going to be a good ship for you the casino area is fine and separated from non smokers but the smoke jail looked horrible near the pool it looked like a huge bus stop.

Food on the ship: Ok were all different when it comes to food but I will tell you for my group we did Cagney, LeBistro, Lacucina, Q, Ocean Blue.

The young adults loved the Q there all 21 22 year old boys that tore that place up LOL.

Cagney's was ok probably the least favorite used to be my favorite. The fillets were small not 8 oz French onion soup not good at all and the ribeye was a little chewy and over cooked I asked for medium. The seafood platter our fried who only eats seafood no meat said it was bad.

LeBistro we all loved no complaints except all the desert portions at all the special restaurants were small.

LaCuchina we all loved the food they had the best fillet and it was 8oz easy.

Ocean Blue my DW and I loved the food our friends did not they ordered fish dishes and did not like them.

The local all the food was good.

We went to main dining 1 time I have not been a fan of the main dining room menus for a few years and I normally do not dine there. The food was ok I had the chicken cordon blue it was probably a frozen item I did not like it someone ordered the steak it was pathetic it was tiny and looked like a steak and eggs steak from a cheap diner. Someone on CC said (where is the beef) and I agree. The buffet and main dining had little beef offerings.

Buffett was good for breakfast all the usual items. No hash browns but real country potato's. For lunch it was just ok for burgers dogs and soggy pizza. They had a lot of foods in stews and weird sauces which I do not like looks like 3 day old left overs. They also did a lot of chicken and forms of pork which some were good and some were bad. I do not think we did the buffet for dinner they took away my favorite prime rib night boooo. The theme nights were of no interest to me I liked the old ones.

All of the ports were good we did western Caribbean Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Harvest Cay. We all did different things I did mainly beach breaks shopping and eating.

In Miami Embarkation was great we got there at 10:30 and were on the ship at 11:15

Debarkation was fast too out at 8:30 am.

    Any questions let me know.

Ooooooo....did fake security not scream at you and wave their arms at you for taking this photo? I just laughed and gave them a thumbs up when I did. Like I care what they think.

Never understood why they would care if you took a photo.

And I am sure some smart arse on here will chime in and give some squeeze bag reason.
