We were booked on the Sydney to Suva on Sojourn , definitely has been cancelled by Seabourn. Already had a phone call and email confirming how much we will get back as a FCC , We have also been given reimbursement , detailing  what they pay us in  $AUS for flights and Hotels we had to cancel . Overall we are pleased however as we probably wont see anything for at least 10 to 12 weeks I'll reserve judgement when the money is in the bank.

I am confused as well. A FCC has been offered to you but no refund. If my cruise is cancelled I will be expecting to be offered either a FCC or a refund.

All Odyssey Class ships have them on Deck 5 near the meeting rooms.

If you look at the Deck Plan PDF on Deck 5, right next to the meeting rooms either side of the hallway there is a symbol of a square with a black dot. On the key you will see that is the symbol for self-serve laundrette. Hope this helps.😊

  3. I have definitely seen it on my last 3 Azamara cruises - people rotating between the sun and the shade by reserving lounges with towels / clothes etc. Staff do nothing when this issue is raised with them. If it wasn't a problem it would not be regularly raised in the daily paper. Very selfish.

  4. I'm musing about a fjords trip on Journey and I'm trying to compare it with a Regent one. And of course, Regent covers many excursion costs, at least for basic excursions.

What do you think would be a ballpark budget for planning ship-sponsored excursions in Norway? It's a 15-night cruise.

(BTW, why do so few Azamara devotees seem to arrange shared private excursions online using the roll-calls here on CC? I've asked this question before but never got a satisfactory answer.)

Never found it a problem - I have been on many private tours through the roll call when cruising with Azamara. The Norway & Fjords are a different kettle of fish - there is very limited action on private tours, but as one poster previously suggested perhaps it is because of limited private tour companies, short time in some ports,

  5. On the Caribbean cruise in March the ages were as follows:

    Ages Guests

    3-17 7

    22-30 4

    31-40 11

    41-50 46

    51-65 283

    66-75 242

    76-99 75

    100+ 1

These figures were published in the daily on board newspaper. We have done several Azamara cruises, mainly in Europe and I would say that the above figures are fairly typical.

That's interesting info - I also think it is a pretty typical age demographic of all cruises. A good effort by the 100 year old.

  6. Yes, really. We saw lots of US and UK navy ships and helicopters in that area on our Suez cruise.

Oh dear I think I am faint of heart and have made a mistake booking this cruise. Too late to cancel?

  7. AZ Affecionados,

We did this cruise from Dubai to Istanbul last April 2015. This is not a cruise for the faint of heart.

Captain Carl was hard on the gas pedal through the Somali pirate territory but we didn't see any pirates, mostly because the Saudi airforce was patrolling everything on the water there to stop arms transport to Yemen that they were in active combat with when we went through. There is an international armed forces presence also patrolling the Gulf of Aden and they are usually bored so they investigate anything suspicious!

    Really ?

  8. Hello Leo178,

I've asked around the office and the consensus seems to be that most ports allow guests to go ashore after they check in.

In fact everyone says it seems to be only ports in Australia that are such sticklers on this immigration rule.

Everyone ??? iSticklers ??? I can recall having the same regulations in other Sub Continent & European ports.

  9. We just returned from our first Azamara cruise. I personally do not think it is worth the premium cost to chat with the officers. We had a nice talk with the ships doctor on white night but other than that the officers just said Hi when passing.Maybe Drydock problems kept them busy. We cruise mostly Celebrity and the Officers are very visible and do stop and chat. I will say that the food was outstanding on the Journey as it was on our Oceana cruise. We had a great cruise but there were just too many problems post drydock. To be honest the crews on our Celebrity cruises were just as good as this Azamara cruise. Maybe the drydock really ran them down. We had some fantastic waiters and some not so,forgetting to bring coffee, soft drinks at dinner on more than one occasion. And since the self service laundry was still out of service and still was today, never did they offer any free laundry service. Only those who asked at guest relations got it. We packed for half the cruise knowing we could use the washers. I talked to people the last night of the cruise and they were washing items in their sink, because they were not informed of a free bag. So Azamara did not impress me.

Kaz you should continue cruising on Celebrity and not cruise on Azamara just as I would never cruise again on Celebrity and will stick with Azamara who we always enjoy cruising on.

  10. Hi Andy,

Could you check if the new menus have dietary needs indicated as per Celebrity?

I am Lactose Intolerant, so choose meals that have the symbol of a cow, as I cannot eat dairy products.

Coeliac ,Diabetic, Vegetarian passengers are also catered for.

"Could you PLEASE check ........" Perhaps Andy would like to have a holiday as well - please be aware he is not a paid employee.

  11. Hi CF004,

Sorry you feel the need to classify it as a "rip off".... but that's simply not the case. The bottom line is, there are different rules and regulations for regions throughout the world, and, for most every cruise line. This may be responsible for pricing variations. It may also be a matter of supply and demand. It's tough to blame a cruise line, for trying to obtain the highest fare possible. That's business. They aren't a non-profit organization.

Another thought - currencies are going crazy in many regions, which may also affect pricing.

I hope this doesn't stop you from booking with Azamara, as they offer a wonderful cruise experience. If not ? then I hope you find the Cruise option that works best for you. All the best to you !

Host Andy ??? you usually give such balanced views. Supply and demand ??? What difference does it make if the ship is full - either with Americans, Brits, Germans or even Australians? No problem with the cruise line trying to achieve the highest fare possible as long as it is FAIR to all. Let's hope this is an aberration Andy and you can get back to your objective and helpful self.
