You are allowed to bring alcohol including wine and beer onboard. You can take wine to any dining venue and be subject to a $10 corkage fee. We have also brought alcohol onboard during port stops without any issue.

I was thinking a favorite bottle of scotch not wine or beer.

In case you don't get a response, I'll give you my OPINION about the area:  No concerns.

I have not stayed in that room, but have stayed in the area, and I don't have anything negative to say about it.   Many of the rooms on Deck 8 will experience some noise during the day as people move their pool loungers, but nothing significant unless you were expecting a room with zero noise (maybe deck 7 will give you quieter rooms, although a few of the walls separating some rooms allow more noise than others in deck 7).

The rooms below the Patio tend to be noisier because people drag the chairs and tables quite a bit, but I have stayed in those rooms, and the noise just forced me not to stay in my room during seadays.  After 10 or 11 pm, even those rooms are mostly quiet.

Enjoy your cruise, and please come back and share your opinion about the room.

Thanks for your response! We went ahead and booked 8031. The only available balconies on 7 were closer to the front of the ship.  In case we have a rough sailing around Antartica, I'd rather be a little closer to midship.

I will post about the room when we return!

  3. We will be taking a NYE cruise out of Fort Lauderdale.  We will be driving our motorhome from Indiana to Fort Lauderdale.  We are looking for suggestions for a safe place to park our motorhome that doesn't require the place to drive our motorhome to park it. We checked the cruise port, but they will only park it and we have to leave them the keys. Any suggestions??

Do you have any questions about Mariner of the Seas?  We just got off the ship yesterday!  Ask away!

Do they have Blanton on the ship?  It is the bourbon of choice for some of us going on New Year's Eve.

Any chance you rented a cabana on Coco Cay?  Was it worth it?  Thanks for your hep!

  5. Hi, we are staying at the Intercontinental Miami next month. Can I ask, is it near any shopping malls? Which are the best malls in the city?

Biscayne is a nice walkable area, not to the port but to restaurants. Hampton and Doubletree are equally good choices. Just don't try to drive. Uber is very convenient there.

  6. Thank you for posting so much information on the GBR. We will be on this same cruise the end of March. We are looking at the Skyrail, Kuranda, and Cairns excursion vs the Jungle Train, Skyrail, and Kuranda excursion. There is almost $100 difference with adding the Jungle Train. In your opinion or comments from others, is the Jungle Train worth the additional. Is either cruise worth experiencing?
