  1. Hi, and many thanks for this information and all your hard work.

Can anyone tell me if the price of buying the package on board is the same as pre-paying for it in advance?

Must you pay for the whole cruise or can you jump in at any time during the cruise and only pay pro-rata for days still remaining?

We had the package for a 14 day cruise last March but we have 21 days this March and, well, it adds up. Never worked out if we won or lost but I loved every minute of trying everything and not sure we would have, if we collected all those slips and watched the on-board account grow day by day!

My heart wants to buy the package my head says "You must be joking".

  2. Thanks for the replies. When prepaying for gratuities or trips, will Princess charge the credit card in US$ if that is what has been selected, or will it be converted to GBP by them, and therefore be subject to their 3% transaction charge? Currently, Visa website gives an exchange rate of 1.65 - if Princess exchange rate is at 1.55 then then that's poor - if 1.64 then its much the same but with 3% extra to pay.

Will be getting the currency exchange done on the card.

Think Princess should be a bit more careful with the recommendations they are giving about this on their website.

We were on the Sapphire in Asia last April. We sent money to the ship by phoning Princess in Southampton (UK) E.g. We asked to send £500 We got a rate, at that time of $1.66. Paid by credit card and requested the transaction to show as 'purchase' of £500. It all worked perfectly. It showed in stirling o. Our cc statement. Ask for an email receipt as the money does not show as OBC in the personalizer ( saves any argument. Although we had none) but will appear when you get on board. A card will be left in your stateroom stating you have been gifted the money!!

  3. I suggest calling Princess and ask them if they can manually mane an entry keep you on a waitlist while booking a backup excursion.

Thank you for this suggestion. I have done just that and Princess has now booked us on two excursions on that day. We have to cancel one of them 48hrs beforehand.

Once again thank you all. What a mine of information on CC!

  4. Thank you all for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately the 'system' (cruise personaliser) will not let me reserve two excursions on the same day as they are both 7hr long. Think we will hold off until the end of March and then make a decision.

    Thank you again

    Kind Regards

  5. Hi,

This is our first cruise with Princess and would like some advice about excursions. We are on a wait list for a trip to the DMZ in S. Korea. If we cannot take this trip we would like to book another. Has anybody been on a wait list for a trip and been allocated a place once on board or would your advice be to cancel the hoped for trip and book another. They are all filling fast. Only two possibilities left now and we don't sail for a month!

    Appreciate you advice in advance.

  6. Yes, we must be lushes too as the package would work for us on our Asian cruise in April 2015. However cannot find anyway to purchase it. Am I too early or is there somewhere on the Princess site I haven't found yet? Tried 'My Booking' with no success. Do we have to wait until we are on board? Never sailed Princess before.
