The cruise lines always (almost?) offer a transfer bus to the airport and/or into the city center at the end of a cruise.  I don't usually even book mine until I get on the ship -- it can be done at guest services.  But they probably offer it with advance booking by calling.   And no, it isn't necessarily tied to who booked the flights.  I always book my own flights and have used a ship transfer at least 5 times.  I often sail solo, and a transfer is often affordable for just one person.

Thank you. I think just to be on the safe side, I will keep my original booking with the taxi I’ve booked (£130) as I want to get to the airport pronto.
It’s good to know transfers can be made on board. I’ve never done that before.
I’ve booked my cab for 7.45am so I am hoping  it will only take 30 mins or less to disembark as we have our own cases….. unless anyone thinks I should leave the ship earlier?

Hi, hoping someone can provide some help/advice.

Looking to complete the PLF for upcoming cruise. We are flying into Rome a day early. Do we complete 2 PLFs? One selecting "Aircraft " as this is how we are entering Italy,  and then a 2nd form selecting "Cruise "? The form doesn't allow me to enter 2 different transportation types.

    Finding this a bit confusing 😕 😐

    Thank you for any help.

I might be a bit late to the party, but there are no more passenger locator forms required to enter Italy from May 1

  3. Our balance was due on March 6, just over £7k as  we were a party of 4. I obviously didn’t pay it and just presumed we would lose our deposit, but yesterday I received an email from TUI to amend free of charge a future holiday. We may well go ahead with the same holiday next year, but I was quite impressed that they were offering us this. I suppose in the current circumstances it’s good damage limitation.

  4. I completely understand, but in my honest opinion, I think the Caribbean is one of the safest places to go at the moment.
It’s the Med & Far East that’s the issue at the moment.

I’m due to go to the Greek islands on May 29 and they have closed schools and universities this week.   Zante one of the islands on our itinerary is also affected.
Go and enjoy your trip of a lifetime.

And so you should enjoy your cruise.

There is a difference between scaremongering and giving the correct facts.

Are you sure Marella is still cruising in the Far East? There are none listed on their website when I checked.

An awful lot of scaremongering going on! Go and enjoy your holiday. We are off to France next week and are looking forward to our Marella cruise in May. Considering many who get this virus will have no symptoms at all, or minor ones at most, it's really not worth fretting over! We just have to hope Marella don't cancel the cruises......

  7. We are also so over this company. We leave tomorrow for NY then London and because we had flights already independently booked, has cost us an extra $2000. We stayed at The San Juan Marriott as we already had this booked for one day before the cruise and 3 days after, and as there are no all-inclusive hotels on the island, we had no choice but to pay for food and drink. We didn't go crazy either, bought breakfast and dinner out locally and had only a few drinks at the hotel on the rainy days. Celebrity has lost good customers, I know before anyone says that this can happen to any cruise line, but it is the acknowledgment that they are willing to help out in any way that would have moved mountains for us. They dismissed us completely. Our friends still haven't received the original email telling them the cruise was cancelled! If we were travelling seperately, they would have showed up at the friggin port! We are definitely jumping ship. Be warned fellow passengers, it can happen again and it will.

  8. We got £200 per person for air fare refunded and 25% off our original cost which amounted to £197 each towards a future cruise which is valid for TWO years not one. Useless to us as we are not travelling with Celebrity ever again after this fiasco. We intend to take this further and involve an arbitration service. They have known about these issues for over 5 months. It's also quite a coincidence that it's change over Captain's day tomorrow! Funny that! ....and also quite convenient.

I'm sitting at JFK as I type ready to board a flight to San Juan to stay in a hotel that has cost us considerably more. We are lucky we can do it, but others not so lucky. I heard that someone was getting married on The Summit next Friday and had 15 members of her family on the cruise too. How sad is that.

Celebrity has seriously let us all down big time. Shame on them. They could have put this right with a contingency plan considering their massive fleet, but they had none in place.

What kind of company does that to people. Our future booking for The Edge has been cancelled. Not a chance we will sail with this company ever again.

Good luck to everyone, I hope you have a good holiday or if you cancelled, hope that you can find a replacement another time. Please complain in the strongest terms and include the CEO in the emails.

  9. Thank you for this information. I found out about the cancelled cruise last Thursday but the couple we are travelling with still have not received any email to say that the cruise is cancelled. It's so disappointing as we booked over a year ago. We have had to book a hotel in San Juan for the duration which has cost us literally an arm and a leg. Our flights are non-refundable & cost us £3000. The compensation is completely laughable and absolute insult. We also cannot cruise next year so the 25% off which needs to be used within the year is useless to us .

We are definitely going to complain in the strongest terms. I have heard that Celebrity knew about these issues five months ago.

They should be offering us a new cruise free of charge for all the inconvenience they have caused us .

  10. We were also on the Summit cruise on 8 April. We were flying from London to New York for a couple of nights and then heading down to Puerto Rico for an overnighter before boarding the ship. We also had three nights planned after the cruise at the San Juan Marriott right on the beach. It is very disappointing but after the events in London two days ago it just put everything into perspective for us .

I did have two rooms reserved on the Jewel of the Seas with Royal Caribbean travelling the following day, but we have decided not to take them so they may still be available if anybody wants to try. They were ocean view rooms but that was all they had left.

I hope everybody finds an alternative holiday that suits them. We are now looking for an all-inclusive 10 night holiday in the Caribbean but we are not having a lot of luck finding anything !
