  1. What possible relevance is the age of a reader/poster on Cruise Critic? would you also propose polls on:

    hair color (natural or enhanced)?

    height and/or weight?

    marital status?

    current gender and/or gender preference?

The site is Cruise Critic; names are anonymous.

I am opting out of your "poll".

  2. We all have different preferences/habits on when we like to dine. There's no right answer, but there is a problem with Seabourn. Seabourn is an American company with a large north American clientele. The fact is most Americans tend to eat dinner between 5 - 7. Seabourn should provide at least one dining venue (not room service) that's available at 6:00. This should be as simple as recognizing who a larger percentage of your customers are and meeting their needs. I'ts one of the few negatives we've found cruising with Seabourn.

Your "fact" is incorrect and misleading.

I live in the US and I do not know anyone who dines between 5 and 7. If anything we dine later than 7, which, incidentally, is the time that most restaurants open for dinner. I also have never heard anyone on Seabourn who voiced a desire to dine earlier.

  3. Good for them!

--and bad/sad for her many fans. She is the most personable and energetic CD since the late David E. They both cared so much for all of us and "made" our cruses.

Bon Voyage dear Sophie. I miss you already.

    Winnie:')

  4. cruiser02, I own no dress pants! I have only dresses and my casual summer pants have been acquired for cruises.[/quote

One answer: Chico's black "traveler" pants: silky feel, pack like a dream---and elastic waistline! You probably already have dressy tops or casual tops dressed up with a scarf or bling of choice. I'm on my second pair and they can be machine laundered to boot.:p

  5. In my opinion, they are middle of the road excursions - not luxury - not mainstream. Some Regent Choice excursions are definitely luxury - going to Michelin star restaurants, etc. Thank you for asking an "honest question".

Editing to say that some luxury and premium cruise lines do offer some included excursions but they are basically bus rides around the city. While Regent also offers those, many of their excursions are quite good. The issue is too many buses arriving at the same place at the same time. Some passengers enjoy those but those of us that have traveled extensively would rather not be part a bus caravan visiting over-crowded places.

To which luxury and premium cruise lines are you referring that offer "basically bus rides around a city"?

It may surprise you but not everyone considers Regent to be the singular luxury cruise line.

  6. My first cruise was New York-Le Havre on French Lines' Liberte; I celebrated my 21st birthday on the crossing and have loved cruising ever since. I may have missed some ports but only one stands out:

On September 11, 2011 we were on a TA London -New York off the coast of Greenland. Obviously we would not be disembarking in NYC. The cruise line made--and paid for-- alternative flights from Boston for all affected passengers.

We did stop in Nova Scotia and I can't remember being prouder being an American by their portside bagpipe welcome and the graciousness of the Canadians who deserve ao much credit and thanks.

We missed the statue of Liberty but were escorted, in a subdued Logan airport, to our flights by guard dogs and military wielding AK-47s.

I will never regret--or care about--any missed port. Life is too short and I will live each day (hopefully aboard a cruise ship!) .

  7. On our last two Seabourn cruises in March 2017 and Sept 2017 in the Caribbean and the Med, there was preferential boarding for some passengers at about 11.45am, and the rest of us commenced boarding around midday. There were a few lines but they cleared quite quickly.

In my many years of sailing, I have NEVER seen preferential boarding (except, perhaps, the guest who spent most of every year aboard) on any Seabourn ship.

  8. I've never seen "Cmas" only Xmas. Perhaps they're not Christian?? How would you write out a Jewish/Hindu/Buddhist/Islamic or other religious holiday? Would you "really" take the time to properly learn to correctly spell the actual holy day? Some food for thought!

If I was referring to any faith's holy day, I certainly would try to respect it without abbreviations.

  9. I really am laughing. I give chocolate on holidays..Cmas and Valentines. I give it if I know the port is good and known for chocolate. Not always my but,er ir room attendant leaves. I have a couple collect magnets so I make sure I bring one back.

As far as money goes I always give to room attendant and butler. I will give extra to a bartender if I stay with thst person.

I also sail a lot at Cmas so always have gifts. They miss their families so I go shopping.

Probably off-topic but is it too much trouble to spell out Christmas? To many of us it is

one of our holiest days of the year.

  10. The USA is currently negotiating a deal with other countries who have consulates in the area to stand in to help US nationals visiting/living in Leningrad.

    Announcement soon.

Please don't let a little diplomatic tit-for-tat scare you off one of Europe's more interesting cities.

I was there when the name changed back to St. Petersburg:champagne-toast:

  11. I love Seabourn and her witty travelers--try reading the Regent boards for real grouches and the same topics over and over ad nauseum!

We love our cruise line of choice; most of all we (I) enjoy the easy, don't take life so seriously, guests and their life aboard. And the easy-going attitude is the definition of the best cruise line in my world (and I've sailed on many others , too).:D
