  1. Greetings, We are now watching the prices for RCCL. We bought 100 shares of Carnival the beginning of the week, already lost $1000, but in it for the long haul. We are not "stock" people, this is our first attempt, but interested since we have seen the higher value of them in the last year.  It may take a few years, but we are confident that they will bounce back.

  2. Happy Camper Alert....we just bought a piece of the pie. We are pleased with our price, it might go lower, but we are fine with our decision. Especially since we were going to buy some a year ago at 65/share.  Half price is a bargain!!  Now I just need to learn how to get the OBC for our May and June cruise!! Thank you to everyone for the input!!

  3. I was happy to find this thread, my husband and I have been discussing getting CCL stock for a few years, we were going to buy it at $65/share, but now it is a real bargain, we have been watching the price daily. We cruise often within the CCL family and think it would be fun to own a piece of the pie and a few benefits are a bonus too.

  4. Regarding a Miami Vice, tell them to layer it and NOT mix it. I have had some Awesome looking drinks, there are some very talented bartenders. I had one that looked like pina colada, but the inside was the strawberry daiquiri. Others were swirled, all the same drink but the presentation is beautiful. I actually didn't care for the one that was blended into a light pink version, don't ask why....it all ends up in the same place...hahahaha. :D Enjoy!!

  5. Hello Saint Greg, I picked your brain in September regarding hotels for June 1-3, it time to book something. I have never used Hotwire, so not sure of using it. I have looked at your insights and have the French QTR/Mississippi River area listed, tennis nearby, 4.5 stars, everything lines up with Hotel Riverside for $97 a night, which is SUCH a bargain compared to the $236 direct from the hotel, I am in love with the price, BUT not sure with booking through Hotwire....convince me.....HELP......

  6. Hi, I have been doing research on these threads but it has made me even more unsure what to do. So maybe some of you can help? I booked a cruise on Carnival Dream for June 2018. We are driving from Ohio (we enjoy road trips and usually it's cheaper). Cruise leaves on Sunday and I plan on arriving in NOLA the day before. So we only need a hotel for a night. It's myself and two teens age 12 & 16 at that time. I have no clue where to stay. Stay near the river or closer to the French Quarter? Get a hotel that includes parking for the week of my cruise and deal with taxis or park my car at Fulton? I don't even know what my kids would like to do in NOLA for the one evening we are there! Lol! What to do what to do? Oh, and one last thing, how far out should you book a hotel? When I do a search right now many of them come up as no rooms available. I assume that is because a year in advance is too far and not because they are really booked? Any advice at all will be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!

HI, we are going on the Dream June 3 also, we will be with the square dance group. I am getting started with looking for hotels and airfare!!! Have you joined the roll call??

  7. Saint Greg.....I have read the first couple of pages of this thread then jumped to page 18 to finish the read. YOU seem to be the "go to" guy regarding hotels on the past few pages. I don't do any of the online hotel sites, but I am very interested in a hotel close to the pier that the Carnival Dream will be. We will fly in the day before the cruise and not renting a car. The streetcar interests me for a tour around the area, but I am hoping that Carnival will offer a tour after the cruise on the way to the airport. I think that the Hilton Garden Inn Convention Center or the Renaissance New Orleans might fit, what do you think?? Thank you for your help. We will be flying in on June 2, 2018.

  8. A few times we used National, as they were located near the pier. Last year we rented from them at the airport. We took a taxi to the airport, it was around $30 and then they took us back to the pier when we returned the car. I think Avis or Dollar has a place downtown, but not sure.

  9. In Juneau and Skagway there is a store called the Tshirt Factory, they have large sizes. In Juneau it is across the street from the Mt Roberts Tramway and in Skagway it is on the main street near the docks. In Ketchikan, I would try the Tongass Trading Company on the dock.

  10. Personally we would rent a car, we have been there a dozen times and rented cars for a third of our trips. There is so much more that you can see while in Juneau. We took a drive across the bridge, down the road miles past the Mendenhall Glacier turnoff, went to Glacier Gardens, went to the Beer Factory and also to Walmart when it was there!! We love Mendenhall Glacier, it is always a must do as we saw it for the first time in 1986. The waterfall that everyone walks to now was behind the glacier back in 1986, the poor thing has receded so much. OKAY, I am dwelling, rent a car, you won't be disappointed. :D

  11. Vancouver does not have to be expensive for a multi-night stay. With a little imagination.... Vancouver has many options for all types of budgets. However everyone's has different standards.

I understand the shelters are not popular. I have heard some sleep under the cruise terminal on floating rafts.

 OH MY this is perfect, do you think that we could get a raft for our visit on June 15-18?? The weather should be nice!!! :D

  12. :D I enjoyed your review of your cruise. We have been to Alaska nine times and I always enjoy living it again through others voyages. We also are HAL returnees with several in our resume. We tried Celebrity in April and enjoyed it, our opinion is the two cruise lines have a lot of similarities. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and Welcome to the HAL family. :D
