On the ship we were on last week (Symphony) the limit was $14 a day.  We are D+ so we had 5 drinks per day each.  We ordered what we wanted and never got charged anything but we did add tips.

Hi TeeRick, did you ask for your D+ drink when ordering?  Curious on if they automatically look for it, or do you have to specify.  Thanks!

Question…for your sailing, how many men did not wear a jacket?  Did those who did not dress up look out of place?

I would say 50% had suit jackets, I would guess probably less than 5% had a tie (I was one of them).  The most common outfit was a just a collared shirt.  Nobody really looked out of place since there was such a wide variety of outfits.

Honestly, I think more people planned their outfit for White Night than the Gala!!

How was the food on Gala night @CHolliwood?

We were in the Yacht Club, My wife had the beef rossini, which is a tenderloin on a thin slice of bread/ biscuit, with seared foie gras and a sauce on top.  She loved it.  I had the lobster tail, which beat any lobster I've had on either Royal or Celebrity.

  4. Thanks for the info everyone, it ended up being on the sea day after we embarked from Barcelona.  It was called the 'Gala Night'.

The guidance at the restaurant entrance said Men- Tux, Dark Suit, or even you best pair of pants and a polo shirt is acceptable.

  5. First time on MSC, already confused by the website/ app.

I've purchased a 3 night specialty dining package, but have no idea how to select dates/ times.  I've searched the website and app, does anyone have some info to share?  Do I have to wait until onboard?  Thanks,

No more open bar for the Diamond Lounge, only vouchers, but you can use them anywhere at any time. They still serve the same type snacks during happy hour and still have the coffee machine at least.

The time varies a bit from ship to ship and is usually 3 hours. 4:30-7:30 or 5-8 are common I believe.

Thanks!!  Appreciate the info.   I imagine the Diamond Lounge is less popular now.

  7. Hi, been a couple years since i cruised and it looks like things have changed a bit.

While in the diamond lounge during happy hour, do you have to use your 4 vouchers there?  Or is free drinks in the lounge during happy hour, then you can use the 4 at other times?

Also is happy hour still 5-8:30?

    Thanks

  8. I've noticed that junior suites are located in different areas of the deck plans for Allure, some are mid-ship with a 'deeper' balcony than other junior suites.  Since others do not have this 'deep' balcony, are those rooms wider to make up the difference in square footage?

Is there a difference square footage between the two, or do they adjust to ensure the space is equal on the balcony.

    Thanks,

  9. The ABC itinerary is the best (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao). Honduras is a great stop as well.

As for SRF's suggestion, I would tend to agree.  We have had dives cancelled the last 2 cruises for various reasons.  When you only have a couple days where dives are available, it is disappointing to have one of them cancelled on you.

So you got a Star cabin through Royal UP🤔

I was originally in a JS with Sea.

Through RoyalUP I was upgraded to an Owner's Suite with Sky Class.

It said specifically that I would not be eligible for Star Class.  Now, if Owner's Suites do not qualify for Star under normal circumstances, that would explain it.

    Chris

  11. I would double check, I don't believe you get Star Class through RoyalUp.  I'm speaking from my experience at the beginning of this month.   It specifically stated I would only be eligible for Sky perks, not Star.    I was already booked in a JS at the time, so I was able to upgrade from Sea.

  12. Just got off Anthem, where we were issued a 20% FCC coupon due to a few issues with our cruise.   As part of this cruise, we had successfully bid for the Owners Suite through the RoyalUP program.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but the FCC didn't include the RoyalUP amount.   Has anyone else been in this position?  And if so, did you go back to RCI to include this amount?  I can't find any fine print that says this would not be included.

    Thanks, Chris

  13.

I am one of those Diamond's who do still get the package..... sometimes.   I find it is only worth it if there are 3 or 4 sea days depending on cruise length and itinerary (such as Labadee or Coco Cay, as the package works there too).   Also need to factor in dining time, if you dine late then you probably will get enough freebies from the DL and then at dinner.

If you dine early, or chose to dine early through mytime you will miss out on a good chunk of DL time.

  14.

Not posting one of those "What should I do" questions, just looking for some facts from fellow drinkers who may know the best way to navigate the system.

About to depart for 9 nights on the Anthem.  I'm Diamond Status, staying in a Junior Suite, and purchased the Drink Package.

As part of a Royal Up bid, the JS Sea perks get upgraded to Sky.

If I am successful as part of the RoyalUp bid, are there any way to get a few more drinks being in either a Loft/ Owners/ Grand Suite with Sky Perks?  If so, I'll probably look at canceling my drink package.

Also, just to clarify, Diamond Lounge & Happy Hour drinks are not enough on their own for me to not get the drink package, but a few more a day might sway me.

    Thanks! Chris
