  1. Get there early & don't pay attention to their suggestion. They email everyone hoping that a percentage will follow their advice so as to relieve congestion.

That's all fine & well but since I paid for the whole day & should be entitled to board ASAP and not according to their schedule. If you enjoy eating in the DR for lunch following their advice won't allow for it.

I just hope they've had enough time to thoroughly clean my room and the ship, too.

  2. It's a new angle on it and information which really interests me. That is why I asked.

No need to read it if you don't wish.

CC has a great feature some people may not be aware of. You can hover your mouse over the thread title and it will show the first words of the post. It is usually enough for you to know if you are interested.

I hover over the thread title all the time. I don't remember how I discovered it, but it helps in choosing a post.

  3. I have been raked over the coals several times about Tipping! :( Suffice to say I "do not remove the auto gratuities" but I tip extra as dictated by good service! You get what you pay for and I expect the best! :D As for the "Scrooges" that remove the auto tip, They would bitch if they were hung with a new rope! There is no satisfying some people!

Sometimes, I just wish my mouth had a backspace key…

    Atta way to go Okie.!

  4. I feel the same about my upcoming cruise on the Century. I leave in 3 weeks for Alaska. I am Elite on Princess and just sailed with them 2 weeks ago (yes, I will miss all the Elite benefits!). I have read nothing but bad reviews on the Century and Celebrity of late.

Will I let that effect my cruise? Heck no! Im going in with an open mind to make my own decision about things.

Drink package changes? Ok, Im not a huge drinker so hopefully I wont notice them.

Staffing issues? Give me a lounger and a book and I am happy.

Loud music? Let me sit out on my balcony for some peace and quiet if I need.

Im cruising with someone who has Alaska on their bucketlist...it is going to be awesome to experience it with them (its my 3rd time up there). I have cruised Celebrity before and they havent. I am going to be on a cruise and out of the office for a week ;) Nope, not letting those reviews bother me before I go!

My friends were just on the Crown a few weeks ago and had a lovely time. They didnt have any complaints. I enjoy both lines :)

Was on the Century last June and really enjoyed the "old" boat. The wood creaked and I felt we were really sailing. Loved the overstuffed sofas near the big windows to just sit or read. Love the small ships.

  5. Mikka, I bought a Travelpro for my 3rd Alaska trip. Loved it. I packed a change of clothing or two, Sudoku, books, snack bars, etc. Things you want available at any time until boarding. It has two side pockets to put things in.

Only wish it was a spinner as I found I couldn't roll it down the airplane aisle to my seat. Wasn't too heavy for a 3/4 century woman to lift to the overhead bin, altho, I did get some offers. I always check a medium size bag through to my destination. Concierge luggage. Wonderful aspect of cruising I learned the first time cruising.
