  1. Hi Everyone.

We are looking at booking an Owners Suite with the connecting 2D balcony for a cruise with our daughter and SIL and their 1 year old daughter.

Can anyone who has sailed in an Owners Suite with the connecting cabin tell me how the connecting works? I am more familiar with how the connecting works on the Celebrity ships.

Did you find that the bedroom afforded enough privacy with just a curtain?

    Thanks for your advice.

Nope, the issue of the screen randomly fading towards dark and then back to normal occurred on my iPad where there isn't a mouse. And the iPad itself wasn't being touched at all. This was using Safari as the web conferencing software said Chrome wasn't supported.

Interesting - I used chrome and had no issues...

So we only bid on one room...and sailing on Sunday.  The top says, "Pending" in bold letters.  Underneath the upgrade type is:

The time period to modify or cancel your offer has passed.

    modify.details.offer.expiration.past.

No credit card activity as of yet.  Now I'm confused, but either way, we will have a nice room and looking forward to a relaxing cruise!

I would email CelebrityMoveUp@celebrity.com and ask them if your bid was accepted (include your booking number).  They got back to me within a few hours (asking for my booking number when I didn't include it).  Worst case is that the answer is no....

Fingers crossed that this is really the sign!

I am booked in Aqua on a January 30th sailing.  I bid on Sky Suite , Clebrity Suite, and Royal Suite.  The Sky and Celebrity Suite bids are expired and the Royal is pending and I cannot change it - that is what sent me searching and finding your thread!

Feeling hopeful! Any yes the bid is waaaaay less than the going rate to upgrade even to a Sky Suite!

Turned out to be the sign for us too!

The one bid had been pending for 10 days and I could not change it even though our sail date is still more than 2 weeks out.  I emailed CelebrityMoveUp@celebrity.com last night to ask about the status and this morning got notification of a credit card charge and my reservation was updated!

On my last cruise, the Move up was available at 30 days out and I had two bids in. Two days later, I cancelled the lesser bid and was immediately locked out of my other bid, it showed pending. That continued for another 3 weeks until 3 days short of sailing I was awarded the upgrade. On my cruise coming up in two weeks, I once again bid on two different cabins and 3 days later, one shows expired with the other one pending (no ability to modify or cancel). I am all but assured of winning that bid based on my last experience and that of others.

Did you win this?  I have been in the exact same position for my Jan 30 sailing for a wwek now?

For those of you that asked for the final result - WE GOT IT !!! 😀 I check my planner and credit card yesterday a couple time and nada. Then last night I got a message from my  TA, that we got it. Sure enough, everything changed. I will post in the move-up tracker later today. Thank you all for your posts.

Now, fingers crossed for negative covid tests and the plane showing up (oh and no snow.)

Fingers crossed that this is really the sign!

  7. Actually - if you are in Fort Lauderdale with any time pre-cruise, Nails By Cindy at 1303 SE 17th St does an absolutely FABULOUS job.  You can call now and make an appointment.

I discovered them when my daughter had to fly in on a red-eye the morning we sailed.  She had final exams right up until the morning that she was flying and did not have time to get them done at home.

I reccommend them whole heartedly and would definitely use them again!

  8. We are from Ontario and have sailed on both the Equinox and the Edge.

While we were on the Edge b2b in February, I knew I was going to book for New Years on either the Edge or the Equinox.

I waited until we spent a full week on the Edge before making my decision and went with the Equinox.

It is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL ship, but it was designed for fashion over function.

We have sailed 12 times with Celebrity (always in at least a balcony) but we have viewed ALL classes.  I would not give up my balcony.  Take the Concierge on the Equinox early in February and you will NOT regret it.

I would suggest the Edge if you require an accessible cabin and ONLY if you REALLY require it.  Those were the only cabins that were well though out (unless you can afford the villas).

That having been said - we did enjoy the Retreat Sun Deck on the Edge which does not have comparable on the other ships - even though they are trying to market it as such I don't think it works without being attached to the Retreat Lounge and Luminae and without a pool.

  9. On the Edge there is a pool and a hot tub and showers.  The older ships were not designed to have a pool, but I understand they will have hot tub and showers - not quite as appealing to me.

But on the Edge it was a fabulous location! And there was a lovely lunch menu that could be delivered poolside!

  10. Thanks for all the info on the Rooftop Garden Grill.  I had booked it for us for Valentine's Day thinking it might be a lovely place for romantic dinner. - not expecting the wind (I guess the fabulous 3D virtual design was only done while the ship was stationary - lol).  I have switched it now to the evening that we are in Puerto Rico until 11 pm.  DH enjoys sail away....

  11. You are expected to update your passport info as their database holds the expiry date. If you were to get stopped and they checked you would lose your global entry.

It is very easy to log in to your account and update your passport number. No cost. No interview.

  12. If your priority is a big ship, Mariner otS should be your choice.

If you are looking for a bit more luxury and focus on service, Infinity would be your choice.

We have cruised on M-class, incl. Infinity, numerous times. Although I also like the larger S-class more, I would never exclude M-class. Well kept, friendly staff (typical for Celebrity), good food etc.

Our cruise on Infinity to South America was exceptional. Our last cruises were on Millennium. If you read about Millennium you get the feeling it is the industry´s worst ship. And yet our cruises on her were some of the best ever...

Don´t read too much into the moaning some people do. It seems to be some people´s favorite pastime... up to a point where it is ruining everybody else´s mood.

Thank you for that last comment, We booked Alaska on the Infinity over a year before we sailed. The comments on these boards had me terrified of the condition in which I was going to find the ship! It was our best cruise ever up to that point! The best cruise ever for us goes to the Infinity again when we did the Panama Canal transit on her a year ago! I don' believe the comments of most complainers on this board. I think they have maybe cruised too much or are never happy with anything ever. Sad.

  13. I just want to thank the people that posted on this thread and that post on this forum in general.

My daughter is cruising with us in 2 weeks and has gained about 30 pound in the last 6 months due to some medical issues she was having. The weight is starting to come off, but not enough that any of her dresses or bathing suits fit. She was getting very depressed over what she was going to wear for the cruise. She goes to school on the opposite side of the country from me and not only could I not be there for her, medical school keeps her too busy to have time to shop.

I had seen the eshakti web site and thanks to the people who posted their positive stories on here I had her take a look. She had a friend take all her measurements and we caught one of their sales and she just had 11 dresses delivered that she feels good in! Half for the cruise and half appropriate for her to wear when she starts her clinical rotations in June and can't get away with the student (yoga pants and sweatshirt) clothes. We ordered April 2, they were shipped April 10, and arrived in Vancouver on April 16. They all fit perfectly!

And she did find a couple of bathing suits at a swimwear store that happens to be across the street from her building.

    Crisis averted!

  14. Last cruise on Equinox there was one obnoxiously loud woman in Luminae and she complained about EVERYTHING and NEVER stopped talking (almost yelling)! She sat with her husband. Fortunately the first couple of nights the were finishing their entrees when we were seated. Everyone in the room could hear her every word!

One evening the Maitre'd brought us around the corner to seat us and it was almost next to this couple who were still looking at their menus. I stopped him and asked if there was a table available in the other half or we would come back later. I apologized for being fussy but he indicated that I was not the first patron who requested not to be seated near this this woman.

My biggest complaint in Luminae, however, was a screaming kid on Infinity last year. He was about 3 or 4 and would jump on the seat (the bench seat along the wall) and run around and SCREAM! My husband was way more patient with him bumping his chair than I would have been! He was obviously overtired and the parents just ignored him (I don't know how). I don't think young children should be seated in Luminae after 8:00 pm.

  15. Luggage Valet is available from the Port of Miami and Port Everglades to the Miami Airport.

It is your arrival port and departure airport (along with the airline and departure time) that determines your eligibility for Luggage Valet.

I may be wrong, but I am almost certain that Luggage Valet is not available in any port outside of the US.

    Have a great trip!

  16. The workshop does include the price of the glasses.

I did one a number of years ago by myself because my husband is not a wine drinker. He and my daughter made fun of me for a long time until I took her to a workshop with me when we did a mother/ daughter cruise. The look on her face was absolutely priceless.

She has her own Reidel glasses now ....
