  1. I was on the Enchantment sailing post dry-dock (12/14-18) if you have any questions just ask!! I hope to get around to posting a trip report soon :)

As far as I can tell during the dry dock the following was completed: the exterior of the ship was freshly painted, they replaced stateroom curtains (I know because mine were missing when we first got in the room!), and I was told carpets were replaced in hallways & other areas and that the pool deck was refinished. Overall, it didn't seem like there were any major upgrades done as there were definitely still some rusty railings, dirty windows, the pool deck chairs were old (nothing that negatively impacted our vacation). One issue I came across was that many lights were flickering in the Schooner Bar and near the Centrum bar.. the Schooner bartender told me all of the light bulbs were replaced during dry dock, so that was strange. My thinking is that they put in LED light bulbs that aren't compatible with the some of dimmer switches on the ship (my dad's an electrician this is something I'm very familiar with) . Anyway, they had electricians working on that so hopefully it gets resolved because it sure was annoying!

But overall we had a nice time and spent a lot of time relaxing in the Solarium (adults only, and the cafe there is tasty). The food in the MDR was actually great, better than I thought it would be, and we had a great waiter we saw every night during my time dining. The food in the Windjammer was really bland so we didn't eat there often. Trivia was fun, the cruise director Michelle was entertaining. I didn't love that the bartenders at all of the bars were soooo slow- they really need more bartenders. I think it's because they have to swipe your card/print a receipt after every single round of drinks which slows them down. Anyway, it was a great ship for 4 nights!

  2. Just got off enchantment this morning.

Luckily we didn’t have much rain.

Was able to go to CocoCay and Nassau. Original we we going to skip Nassau because of the TS but after heading back towards Miami for 3 hours the captain turned around and we arrived in Nassau at 11:30 that night and we docked there all night.

Good time. Had fun. Now back to work tomorrow.

    Anybody have questions plz ask.

Glad you had a good time! Did you hear any plans about the upcoming dry dock? I'm sailing on 12/14 (which I think is the 1st sailing post dry dock) so just wondering what might change. Also how was the food??

  3. Hi all! I'm debating between Empress and the Enchantment of the Seas. Both are 4 night sailings departing 12/14/17, very similar in terms of price and itinerary (Miami-Nassau-Key West) but the Enchantment itinerary also includes Coco Cay which I've been to before. I'm reading reviews of both ships and honestly they sound about the same age/size, is one of them really that much "better" than the other? It's just me and my husband (mid 30s no kids) and it's his first cruise ever! He tends to get seasick so we're trying a short itinerary to see how it goes. If it were you, which one would you choose? Thanks!!

  4. Hi all! It’s been a few years since I have been on a cruise so be patient with me :) I’m been dying to go on a cruise with my new husband but he is skeptical of cruises because he gets seasick on smaller boats. I think I have convinced him to do a short 4 day cruise, but I can’t decide between Enchantment of the Seas and Celebrity Summit.

Both itineraries are in March 2017, last 4 nights, ports include in Nassau and Key West (which is where husband really wants to go), both have option for flexible dining in MDR, and from what I’ve read here they are both older ships. Also, flights to Fort Lauderdale and Miami from DCA are roughly the same so that’s not helping me make a decision either!

I’ve been looking at their websites for pricing. So we can do an interior on Summit for a base fare of $329pp or an oceanview for $729pp (this one includes the Go Better promotion, we could get classic drink package for 2 and $300 OBC). On Enchantment of the Seas we could do interior for $348 or oceanview for $389pp, but no perks included. We would definitely want to get one of the alcohol drink packages.

So what is the better value here? Once the drink packages are added (aprx $55 per person per day) it still seems like the Summit oceanview is the best deal.

Or maybe I’m missing something? Has anyone else been on both ships and strongly prefers one way or the other? For a seasick prone person is one ship better than the other?

Sorry for so many questions, I really appreciate any advice you all have!!

  5. Blue Heaven's Key Lime pie is my favorite! As a side note, they will serve it to you at breakfast. It's not on the menu but when I specifically asked for it they had no problem serving it to me. This is especially helpful if you're ship is docked from 7am-1pm and want to try a slice!

  6. Hey all! I'm a 27 year old single gal going on my first solo cruise in 10 days (Majesty of the Seas 3/19-3/23)!! I'm a grad student and decided to book it on a whim and go during my spring break. Since all of my friends work full time I didn't even bother to ask anyone, I just needed a vacation! I live alone so I'm used to (and enjoy) spending time by myself, but the traditional dining is sort of giving me anxiety since I'm not super outgoing and I worry about having a really awkward table. Besides that, I'm really looking forward to it!
