  1. On the way back from El Yunque, next to Luquilo, is a row of kiosks ("Kiosko") that are world famous. There are 60 in a row, and all numbered - ranging from (#1) expensive/high end (overpriced, in my view) to (#60) "street food". You can walk from one to the other in about 15 minutes and scope the offerings. The food is fantastic, authentic and (except at the top end) very reasonably priced. It really is an experience and worth a stop.

A few places have sit down/waiter service. Others are counter service. The few we tried (both sit down and counter) were all equally delicious.

    Enjoy!

  2. We're looking forward to this on 4/14 - coming off the Fantasy.

Quick question: how wet does it get on the boat? I have a rather big DSLR camera that I enjoy using, but don't want to ruin. Is it safe to bring in a camera bag? Thanks!

  3. Yeah, they do care.

While *sometimes* the answer is to just go to Guest Services and get extra room keys, SOMETIMES they say, HELL NO, kids can't be six decks away from their parents!!!!!!!

Seriously.......YOU are comfortable having a sixteen year old and a TWELVE year old six decks away????

    ***Flame suit on!***

Of course, I would prefer our kids to be across the hall. However, there were no other options available. We decided to take it and see how it goes. Worse case, our kids use the other room just to shower and change clothes, but sleep in our room overnight with us. I'm sure the cabin attendant would be happy to make up the room for 4, if asked.

Our kids are very responsible, trustworthy and seasoned cruisers (this is their 6th or 7th cruise in as many years). We talked about it together and decided that we are comfortable with the space between us. It's not another country -- just an elevator ride away. Really our only concern is the highly unlikely event of a need to muster for an emergency. Of course, one parent would go to a child, but splitting our family is less than ideal.

We are from the New York City area. Middle school kids ride public buses and subways at 10 or 11 years old just to get to school each day. Sleeping on another deck on a cruise ship is hardly outrageous in our book. However, I understand that this may not be true for everyone.

  4. I have two cabins on the Jewel - one on Deck 9 starboard and one on Deck 3 port side. Technically, we have one adult and one teen in each. Of course, we would like the teens to be together - and the adults to be together. I understand we can do that once on board. My only concern, though, is that we will have different muster stations. I want to ensure there is an adult with each child in the unlikely event of an emergency.

I know the Deck 9 cabin is a four person cabin because two of the four were ultimately changed to the Deck 3 cabin. So, our lifeboat should have room.

Does anyone know if we can all have the same muster station - even if not originally assigned that way based on our cabins?
