Can someone please verify if they are actually using plastic glasses for martinis at an inside bar?  A pre dinner martini is one of my favorite cruise rituals and I would be PUT OUT if someone hands me one in a plastic glass, especially after purchasing the premium beverage package.

Please don’t make me go full on Karen and insist they find me a beverage manager!!!

Well it wouldn’t be the bartenders fault so I hope you would do so nicely. And I agree with you on glasses. I don’t do champagne OR martinis (of which I will be consuming in excess lol) in plastic cups! 😳

I recently discovered the "Chi Chi" which is basically a Pina Colada with vodka instead of rum. To me, this has a lighter taste and while I like the tropical flavors in the Pina Colada, I'm not a rum fan.

I did a customization on my last Princess cruise - at the bars that have it, ask the bartender to make a Chi Chi with the Grey Goose White Peach & Rosemary Essence vodka. It adds a subtle, but lovely peach flavor. I call it the "Peachy Chi Chi!" Makes me smile every time I say it.

    Enjoy!

This sounds BOMB! I am a vodka gal, not a rum fan either. I am 1000% ordering this in a few weeks! 🙂

Wait, Princess doesn't have coffeemakers in their staterooms?! We usually cruise NCL and are used to being able to make coffee when we first get up. We're booked on our first Princess cruise in December and, if not, this will be an adjustment. Is the tap water really hot enough to make instant? I don't like the coffee NCL gives us to brew in the stateroom (or that at hotels, for that matter) so, on the recommendation of another CC member, I recently purchased these to add to hot water (from the in-room coffee maker) and they're quite good:

They do not! It is an adjustment for me as well. I'm a roll out of bed and have a cup kind of gal. LOL

You can order coffee 24/7 on your TV or through the ap. Especially that time of morning I’ve found it to be pretty quick.

I sailed on the Diamond Jan 31, 2023 to Mexico out of LA. There was a hot pot in our suite. Now granted it was the 1300 plus square foot Grand Suite but I’ve never had a hot pot in other Grand Suites (or vistas, premium, penthouse or owners)

Heres some pictures of it. It’s just a plain Jane Bodum that is widely available for purchase. If anyone sees anything that makes it different I’d really like to know!

I understand you can get kettles on European cruises, but I haven't heard of anyone getting one in the US.  I am in California and go on a lot of Coastal and Mexico cruises and haven't been able to get one.  Its probably a stocking problem rather than a safety issue.

I am usually up by 4:30 or 5, so room service at 6 to 6:30 is a little late.

Cali girl here as well and up same hours as you since I can't turn off my internal clock (even if I go to bed late UGH.) But on the offset chance I sleep in until 7 I want to enjoy it and not be woken up by a knock at the door. LOL

You can order breakfast and / or coffee to be delivered at a specific time in the morning.

I know. I just don't want to have to wake at a specific time LOL. I want to get up when I want to get up but need a cup immediately when I wake. I have issues but I will deal.

It all depends on what they can see when your bag goes through X-ray. If something looks suspect the will keep it in security and call  you to come and open it. When I was called down about the steamer there was someone having an electric blanket confiscated

Yep. They took my heating pad once, now I bring the disposal ones and have never had an issue. Yet! LOL

I tried an experiment on my last cruise.  I took Via Instant coffee (Starbucks).  I've found the water on cruise ships to be exceptionally hot, so I made myself a cup of instant first thing in the morning.  It was fine as long as you didn't cool it down with milk, next time, I will take non fat milk powder.  It wasn't super hot, but it got me going in the morning until I could get room service delivered from between 6 and 6:30.  I also ended up liking the Via better than the room service coffee (it was stronger).

Great tip. Thanks! I do have a ton of those too (our go to for camping) and they get the job done until the real stuff is done.

I was asking if it is allowed and plan to adhere to the policy. Since they barely heat up anyway lol I wasn’t sure if they were considered in the same category as a heated element. I don’t sneak things on board and haven’t since I was 18 and couldn’t afford the pricy drinks. 😅

And that was many moons ago 😊

Are you asking can I get away with having a coffee maker on board, or is a coffee maker allowed. It is fairly clear it isn't allowed. It's your call if you can get away with it.

A coffee maker produces hot water through a heating element. You may get the coffee maker on board, but don't be surprised if the cabin steward removes it from your cabin and returns it at the end of the cruise.

It has been reported that for sailings out of Southampton Princess includes hot pots in the cabin. They are most likely special hot pots with circuits that will reduce or eliminate the risk of fires.

I called Princess before my cruise, and could not get an answer other than "It is up to the captain."  I asked on this forum, and got conflicting answers.  Very frustrating!  One friend booked a relatively cheap hotel in Cabo for the night, so that he could ignore the shuttle stoppage (if there was to be a stoppage) and he did not have to rush back on board.  That seems excessive to me!

I hope your birthday in Cabo is wonderful!

Thanks! I was actually considering booking a room for the same reason but I do love me some excess lol. I am thinking your answer will most likely be the correct one considering it was relatively recent and the same cruise line. I act like I would be out until 3 am but when it comes down to it I’m getting too old for that so this is all in theory about staying out. Theories, options and excess. Me in a nutshell 🤣🤣

Order your coffee for the time you wake up from room service and enjoy it .

Yeah I just don’t like to be woken up to coffee, I like coffee to wake up lol. Sometimes I get up at 4 am and sometimes allow myself to “sleep in” until 6 when on vacation. First world problems. I will manage lol.

Sorry, but the replies saying that there are tenders all night are inaccurate.  Some ships might have tenders all night long, but some do not.  It depends on your ship.

I was on the Crown Princess in January 2023.  The tenders stopped at 11:30 p.m. and resumed at 7 AM the next morning.  There was no overnight shuttle service.

I came back to the ship for an early dinner, and then made a very short trip back to town to stick my nose into Cabo Wabo and Giggling Marlin, before catching one of the relatively late shuttles back to the ship.  I would have preferred it if the shuttles had been running all night.

Appreciate the input. This is the problem I keep running in to is conflicting info on it. For reference sailing on the Emerald next month so I would assume it will be the same. Do you think Princess will know if I give them a call?

Anything that heats up will not be allowed. We have had a hand steamer taken

Including hair tools? I’ve never had issues with my flat iron or curling iron before. 😬

  15. 5 minutes ago, skynight said:

Not permitted. See referenced FAQ. Coffee machines are covered around 27 bullet points down just under hookah.

    https://www.princess.com/learn/faq/pre-cruise/prepare-for-your-cruise/?accordion=prohibited-items

I saw that thanks! It said with heating / hot plates so I wasn't sure. LOL It also says flat irons and I have never had them take that from me, go figure.

About 12 years ago they took my heating pad and my back was sad for it. Hehe

  16. Does anyone know if the mini travel Keurig's are allowed on board?

I am leaning towards a no but would be delighted to be told yes.

I am a need coffee immediately upon waking so it would be great to bring for just my first cup.

  17. Thanks for the info!!

We rented a four wheeler when we were there in July and had a blast driving around and exploring on our own. We rented as we were leaving the terminal at a place (sorry don't remember the name of it) that it was a little ways down when you took a right out of the terminal. The guy explained how to get around the island.

The guy told us that some of the companies will rent ATVs that are not properly licensed (without having two plates, they share plates with two vehicles).

  18. This is our exact balcony for our upcoming March trip. What was the balcony like? Larger than some? Any pics would be awesome!!

We leave this weekend on the Regal Princess in cabin C428....located port side/Seaview Bar. It has an extended angle balcony...Princess told me it is approximately 9'x9'.....so it appears to be the same size as the Caribe deck balconies on the Crown....and that will make us happy. I will post pictures next week.
  19. We are in this cabin for our 10/24/15 cruise. I spoke to a Princess rep this morning and she told me the extended balcony size is approximately 8'9"x9'......the Crown mini mid-ship Dolphin deck is 49 sq ft.......so we are happy with the balcony size and since we loved the open balcony on the Crown, I'm sure if anybody can see our balcony from the Seawalk it will not be a problem. We are getting close, and that makes us very happy!

Sounds big enough although I am bad at math. Have no idea how many square feet that would be but if you are happy I'm sure we will be too! LOL! 30 days from today for you! LUCKY!
