  1. cruising 12/08 on Victory, wondering how one gets a "clamshell" on the beach at Half Moon Cay....

We were on the Victory in July and loved Half Moon Cay. You'll see a building with a wooden deck close to the kids water area. You can rent a clamshell there. Have fun!!

  2. We flew into Seattle from Los Angeles a few days before our cruise to explore Seattle. We had so much fun. We stayed at The W Hotel. I reserved Aces for Hire to pick us up from airport and drive us to hotel and again from hotel to port the morning of the cruise. The W Hotel has town cars/drivers for their guests (tip only). There is a lot to explore on foot near The W hotel also. Have fun!!

  3. How did you like the Victory? We sail on her in February! :D:D

We loved the Victory. It was the biggest ship we've been on so we saw a few more lines (Lido and tender) but besides that the crowds seemed the same. It was the worst MDR experience in all of our 5 cruises. Main waiter ignored us until night three, food was just OK, very slow service, but it didn't ruin our cruise. Our ports (Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Nassau) were all wonderful. You'll have a terrific time. Thanks again for the Dream review.

  4. we just got off the victory yesterday. we had a wonderful time. it was our 5th carnival cruise. we had an interior room on veranda deck. the a/c worked great in our room. our room steward was terrific. only had lines on lido (at main meal times) and during the tender process at half moon cay. we ate in the MDR all five nights. our wait staff wasn't the best but it didn't mess with our cruise. you'll have a great time on the victory.

  5. we were on the carnival miracle to alaska july 2013. best cruise ever. we were never bored. i think a balcony is worth the extra money. we were on our balcony all the time. we were fine having dinner in the MDR most nights. we were in skagway late so we skipped the MDR that night. i agree the tracy arm excursion from carnival is well worth the money. it's amazing. we also had a private whale watching excursion with harv and marvs. only 6 of us in boat with captain. great company. we had a wonderful time!! your parents will have an amazing time!!

  6. we were on the miracle in july 2013. sounds like we had the same victoria port time as you have. arriving late and only in victoria for a few hours. we took the bus ($2.00 per person round trip) downtown and shopped around, looked at all the lights, buildings, had coffee. we had about 45 minutes of dusk before it got really dark but we still had a great time. beautiful and clean city. you'll have fun!!

  7. we went on the carnival miracle in july 2013 and had a wonderful time. it is expensive!!

we did do the tracy arm fjord excursion through carnival. best purchase ever!! it was amazing!! you do pay for it on the ship.

we used harv and marv's for the whale watching trip. if you have 6 people you can hire them for a private tour. you pay certain amount at reservation and then the remainder a few months prior to cruise. if you use them request jaleen. she was wonderful. it was less than carnival whale watching excursion plus it was great to have only 6 people and the captain.

in skagway, we took a southeast tour through town and into canada. it was inexpensive. the town was great to walk around in before and after our tour.

in ketchikan we went to the lumberjack show right in town. it was fun but was too expensive for what it was.

in victoria, we paid $2.00 each to take a bus downtown and walked around. saw the great buildings, lights, flowers, etc. just did a little shopping and headed back. we weren't in victoria very long.

remember your tips are $11.50 per person per day. we have been on three carnival cruises and this was the most expensive but i would do it again in a heartbeat. it was amazing, breathtaking, beautiful..each day seemed to be better than the day before: whales, glaciers, icebergs, seals, dolphins, bald eagles. you'll have a great time.

  8. my wife and i went on our first cruise (carnival legend) in 2012 and really didn't know what to expect with photographers. we only had one photographer who treated us equally. we always found her for pics. once we returned home we wrote to john heald at carnival and explained how comfortable the woman made us and how other photographers could learn so much from her. this summer we went on our second cruise (carnival miracle) and wow what a difference. all the photographers were great. i doubt it was from our one complaint but we were very happy!! we are going on our third cruise in a few weeks and can't wait for more pics!!!
