OK, thanks all!

Is anyone else on this cruise? I've searched this forum and the roll call forum both and can't find out if anyone else is going on this cruise. I know this isn't the right place to post this but I'm curious!
I'd love to have this whole ship to ourselves, LOL but it's unlikely. I also looked on Facebook under the Holland America roll call section, nada.
I don't want to start a roll call if no one is interested....
Have a great day everyone!

It appears this is a really nice hotel in the middle of Rome. Is that true? Also, what train station is the closest to the hotel? We'd like to take the train (cost effective) to the cruise port in Civitavecchia. Thanks in advance for your help!

Thank you Clarea and little britain

I can't find any info by searching so:
Can you use skype or FaceTime on the Jewel of the Seas if you've purchased the Voom surf + Stream?

We had an 11:10 flight out of FCO after our Serenade cruise in 2014 and made it with plenty of time to spare - we could easily have made a 9:30 flight, as it turned out. Our itinerary was Italy, Croatia and Malta, and we did not have to clear any kind of immigration or customs when we arrived back in Rome. The ship arrived while we were still asleep, so I don't know what time it was. We departed about 6:30, not even close to the first people off.
We carried off our own luggage (pack as lightly as you can) and booked a private transfer, which I think is key. If you book through the ship, you have to wait for a bus to fill and that can be a nailbiter if you're the first to board the bus (although to be fair the busses were loading and departing relatively quickly). Our driver was waiting for us and got us to the airport in 45 minutes. Some of our group (we arranged it through CC) had earlier flights and as far as I know, they also made them easily.
So I think you and your daughter will be fine. :)
Thank you critterchick! We do have a private car so that will help. And now we plan to have only 1 suitcase each and will walk off ourselves. I feel a little better. Hopefully Customs at the port won't be long.

Thank you all for your input. My daughter says we're going to try it, she's done it several times with no issues. (takes cruises from this port many times) It only takes once right?
Thank you all!

Yikes! The Jewel arrives in port at 5 am but it takes time for the ship to clear in the port. Could be an hour or more. Even if 2 you might make it. If you walk off with your luggage and you have a private driver hired ahead of time, you may make it. You will not make that flight if you put your luggage outside your stateroom door the night before arrival. It takes about one hour to get to the airport. But you still need to consider time to be at the airport in line for check in - even in first/business class.
If we walk off with our luggage are there elevators available?

I have a 10:45 am flight out of Rome after my Jewel of the Seas cruise. Will I have time to get to this flight? Traveling 1st class/business...A little concerned.
Thanks for inut!

Thank you for your quick responses!
We are traveling in the middle of May. I'm sure she'll find some people her age. Although I keep telling her that those of us who grew up in the 60's are much more fun!!!

I know, weird question! I've searched the threads and can't find this info. My DD (who is in her early 40's) is going for her birthday with me (Mom) but she was wondering if there would be anyone younger than her DM on the ship. Either way she'll have fun, I know but just curious.
Anyone been on this cruise earlier who may have an answer? Thanks in advance for you help!

Thanks everyone! Sounds perfect.

What are you planning on doing?
We walked around for a couple of hours, ate lunch, and did a little shopping...all by ourselves.
That sounds about right. We may look at going to Taormina also, if the cabs aren't too much! LOL

We'll be on Royal Caribbean's Greek Isles cruise in May. Can we do the port of Messina on our own? We would rather not do a ship tour and I'm totally confused by the many private tours, can't find any shared tours. Sooo, can we do it on our own?

My review of our September Jewel Western Mediterranean cruise gives the order of the menus for that cruise. Same ship, different itinerary. It might help.
Thank you! That definitely gives me a "taste" for this cruise.

Ics,
Try doing a search on member "Hockey Pockey" as he posted the Cruise Compasses. You might try reaching out to him to see if he has the menus. Worth a try!
Good Luck!
Thank you!

No, there's no easy way. The cruise line does not publish the menu order. Best way is to find a review of the same exact itinerary and see if the reviewer included the menus.
I was afraid of that. Thanks for your quick response Bob!

I've spent several hours searching but can't find this particular item. Is there an easy way to find a menu pdf for this ship and itinerary? All help is appreciated!

Where did you see the ad? Only things I see are from January 2014.
It was in the Sunday Press Journal out of Vero Beach FL. The tour is on 11/15/15. There is also a tour on the MSC Divina on 12/5/15.

We haven't been on a Carnival ship in about 12 years. So we saw an add for this luncheon tour and decided to take it and check it out. Has anyone done this before and is it worth the money (about $40. ea)?
Any input is appreciated!

Thanks everyone! If anyone comes across anything please let me know.
ZandZ: The demographics has changed alot in the last 10 years or so, all over FL actually. My Dad lives here so visited quite often and it's not all "old" people anymore as people still assume. I can say that as we are in our middle 60's and are not "0ld"!

Hi Everyone. I've searched the posts and can't seem to find what I want, so maybe someoe here can help.
My DH and I have recently moved to Vero Beach, FL. We would love to get on the email list for Royal Caribbean for last minute cruises. Is there such a thing (I heard there was but that could be an old wives tale, LOL).
Can anyone clue me in? It would be great to take some less expensive last minutes cruises now that we are much closer to several FL cruise ports! Thanks for the help in advance!!

So this is the last OV left for a spring break sailing..I see that it is under the Blaze.. Anyone stay in this cabin lately to tell me if they noticed a lot of noise??
We were in that cabin on the Allure 2 years ago and never heard anything from Blaze. Happy cruising!

Not me, darn it. But if we don't get our upgrade to a mini suite we're happy with our balcony cabin.....
