  1. We have always used an organizer on the bathroom door. I thought it was essential for a family of four to be able to fit in a regular cabin.

I think I read that Carnival banned the use of the shoe organizers late last year. Due to them being a fire hazard?

I still plan on taking our organizer anyway since we place it in the suitcase fully packed and rolled. Atleast it'll help with the packing.

I'm guessing the other cruise lines still allow the organizers on board?

  2. You might be able to keep the epipens cool in a large Frio insulin storage pouch if cruising in hot weather. You can find them on Amazon in different sizes. You soak them in cool water for a short period and then keep them ventilated but out of direct sunlight. They keep insulin cool for several days. Best of luck!

  3. Friends just booked a cabin for a cruise that I have 2 cabins both with FTTF already purchased. We will be traveling with them. FTTF is currently sold out. If I keep checking and find an available FTTF, is there a way I can purchase it for them? Or do I have to call him to make the online purchase? We will be using different credit cards and he booked online by himself. We sail in 3 weeks. Thanks.

  4. Bump.

Sorry I don't have the info you're looking for.

    But it's a great question!

I'm also looking for Luggage Express out of Miami Seaport to FLL airport but off of the Conquest on Virgin America Airlines.

To broaden the question a bit.. Does anyone know if there is a list of Luggage Express participating ships/ ports/ airlines?

I haven't found any such info on the Carnival website. I've called Carnival in the past and the person didn't know.

It's hard to plan for debarkation without knowing if we will have to carry our luggage around with us all day.

So, Does anyone know if there is a list of Luggage Express participating ships/ ports/ airlines? Thank you.

  5. It's not as hot as a hot tub so it felt strange at first but strangely relaxing. It made you feel more buoyant, maybe?

From reading on different boards, it's not suppose to be hot.

We liked it a lot on the Splendor as we were in Spa cabins that came with two week long passes to the spa amenities including the thalassotherapy pool. Wife and I used it daily.

In a nut shell... Thumbs Up!

  6. New to this subforum.

Going for the first time to Florida this Summer.

We'll be flying into Orlando a few days before 4th of July and then driving down to the Miami cruise dock on Saturday July 5th.

Any significant differences between highway 95 and the toll road when driving from Orlando to Miami?

Traffic/ Speed/ Scenery/ Rest stops (bathrooms) when traveling with kids/ Food/ Safety (road conditions)?

On a holiday Saturday morning.. 5th of July?

    Thank you in advance!

  7. Just saved $800 total on two cabins for 4 adults and 4 kids by calling the carnival number and it took less than 10 minutes total time!

So far it looks good. Same date, same room, same FTTF, same cabana rental, same dining preference... just cheaper and a later final payment date.

This was probably a good deal for me because I had booked a semi expensive Past Guest Rate to begin with so it could only go down.

So if you are not saving anything with this rate, you were probably savvy from the start!

    Blessed be the dumb.

    Run Forest Run!

  8. We had a spa balcony on the Splendor 1.5 years ago and it was nice. We went to the spa a lot because it was right there but mostly enjoyed the different sauna rooms and the thalasso... therapy pool. I would also use the showers when the rest of the cabin was getting ready since it was so close by.

We were able to get the spa use included for two adults in our cabin of four because we weren't upgraded into it but had actually booked the spa balcony cabin. I remember sailing the 7 day Mexican Riviera in September for about 2k for 4 people. I still think that was a good price.

The decor was different and nice but not out of this world. The different colored towels were also nice but no big deal.

We like the top levels and the front of the ship anyways so we would do it again if the Splendor returned to the West Coast.

  9. Has anyone booked a Conquest Spa Deck balcony?

Good, bad, same as all others?

Worried that it will be noisy due to close proximity to Lido.

But looking forward to sliding glass balcony doors... don't know why but its nice to experience different cabin features.

I would have searched for the answer but... Search still doesn't work!

    Any insight will be appreciated.

We have two Spa Deck balcony cabins with connecting doors for two families of four (4 little kids luckily).

Thanks in advance... we sail in July!

  10. Going for the first time this July. Hoping to get Beach Villa D (between cabanas 8 and 9) or Beach Villa E (between cabanas 12 and 13).

Not looking forward to long walks with food trays but like the idea of less crowded beaches. The children's play area looks pretty far away on the map from these Beach Villas. Maybe the tram goes down to the end?

  11. We have been in the very similar Miracle 6279 cabin and found it very roomy with no problems... no smells, no elevator noise, no excessive movement or aft related noises. We scheduled a long Hawaii cruise in the same cabin for April.

Even though we saw the AV input plate last time, we did not have the chance to try it.

Does anyone know if the AV inputs work in this cabin category? Or is it an old plate that is now nonfunctional with the new TV's that don't allow you to change the input settings?

If no one knows, I'll post after we try it in April 2014.

  12. No cons. Felt like a suite sizewise. Our group consisted of 2 adults 8 yo and 5 yo. We fit well on a trip to Alaska using the balcony a lot to see the sights. Besides the tub found in most suites, I can't think of any reason to upgrade. I thought the 6279 location was very convenient to everything. We liked this cabin so much that we booked a 16 day cruise to Hawaii in the same cabin. Kinda wished the ship had more 2.0 upgrades though. But if you're on the Miracle, 6279 is the best of everything... price, size, location, bigger balcony. I would only consider changing for an aft balcony or a wrap around balcony... but they usually won't accommodate 4 in a cabin. Best of luck.

  13. Looking for some tips/advice. We are flying into FLL and spending the night. I rented a large passenger van from National that we will drive to Miami the next day, and drop of at MIA airport.

We have purchased FTTF and I am wondering which scenario would be best?

OP - Sorry I don't have any experience cruising out of Miami yet, but we're planning on doing something similar with a group of 8 people. I was planning on staying at a local Ft. Lauderdale Airport hotel, renting a 15 passenger van and requesting they take out the last seat to accommodate all of the luggage. I was wondering the same thing regarding taking full advantage of the FTTF. I was planning on dropping off the other 7 at the pier and just meeting up with them after I turn in the rental van at the airport

Since I'm the one with the most cruising experience, I was planning on being back at the port at 10:30ish. So I would likely have to drop off the others at around 9:30ish? Any thoughts?

We'll be staying 3 days in Florida before the cruise and plan on driving from Ft. Lauderdale to the Everglades/ Key West before heading back to Miami.

Any worry about using a large passenger van? Google "15 passenger van" and you'll find a lot of accusations about them being prone to flipping over and extensive side damage in the case of an accident. I was also looking at renting a Sprinter van but its a lot more expensive.

Did you find any convenient and cheap Ft. Lauderdale airport hotels?

Back to your specific question, sorry as I didn't mean to change the topic, does anyone else know if there is any advantage to checking in at the airport?

  14. Bought a $300 Citizen on the Miracle this summer and then found it 60 dollars more at my local mall and about the same price minus the relative inconvenience on Amazon.

    Love the watch!

I normally hate to go into jewelry stores or look through the glass displays in the mall. Buying on the ship was easy and I got to wear it a few days to make sure there weren't any gross problems with the crystal/ timepiece/ band. Will likely buy onboard again... but only if it's for me or my wife onboard so she can pick it out herself.

  15. That's exactly what my wife and I did when we got it. If we only drank 10 of our 15 drinks, we would get our last 5 drinks as beers and get them every 5mins until we went to bed. That was 5 beers each that we would have in the room and take off the ship on our port days to enjoy at the beach. Worked very well and kept us from having to buy beer in port!

Thank you for the info. Did you have to stow the beers in a bag or could you walk out of the bar with an armful of closed beers? Or did you have to take a stroll and visit various bars.

We'll be at HMC next summer. And sounds like an interesting idea. We'll have access to a fridge at HMC.

    Thanks again.

  16. Sorry to the very knowledgeable in advance...

If booking a Past Guest rate, how do you get a price adjustment if it is before the final payment date?

Is there a form to fill out like with Early Saver?

Or do you have to call Carnival directly?

Does it matter if the new rate is the new Guest Appreciation rate offered this month?

I plan on calling Carnival tomorrow but I wanted some sage (and hopefully patient) advice. Thank you.
