We leave this Saturday March 14 and I still have not received an email.  In fact I got an email about my trip being around the corner today...but nothing else.  I did book through a big box store....not sure if that has anything to do with it.

We leave on March 21 and have not received an email either.  Only an advertisement for decorating the room.

We are booked for an 8 day southern cruise in January 2021, with three stops (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao) and I am trying to find out the dinner menus in the main dining room for the 8 nights so we can book the Japanese on a night we don't mind skipping the main dining. I have searched crusie critic, can't find this info. can anyone help who has sailed this itinerary? Thank you.

I found a video on You Tube with menus for the Horizon.  I'm not sure if links are allowed, but it is easily googled.

It has been many years since we were in Aruba.  Does the port usually have more than one ship docked?

Is the port area easily walk-able?

The link above talks about a free trolley for 9 stops starting at the cruise port.  Has anybody tried this?

I haven't done this but I did find this information:

  5. We are beach people (not shoppers) so we don’t mind Nassau because we have found beautiful beaches there. Atlantis is having a special in May so we are going there for our first time to enjoy the beach and water park and whatever else we are entitled to with our pass. For those who are not beach people I can see why they would just stay on the ship and feel the way they do about Nassau.

    Happy cruising!:)

What special does Atlantis have going on in May? I tried to google it and didn't find anything. Thanks!

  6. When we visited last March (2017) during the day for lunch, there were not many people. We took a taxi to Atlantis and gambled away some money first. Then we walked to Margaritaville. We used the water taxi to return.

  7. We have the same issue and are leaning towards doing part or all of the Frommer's walking tour and possibly stopping for a drink at the pirate bar.

I'm not sure if I am allowed to post a link but it can be found easily by googling if you are interested.

  8. My husband, his brother, and his father did this for a birthday in July. First, they enjoyed listening to how the cigars are made. Then each guy had a cigar roller teach them to roll. The teachers were a mixed bag. My BIL had someone who was indifferent. My FIL had a guy who didn't really want to teach him whereas my DH had a lady who kept correcting him and making him start over. He said it was funny because she kept saying "no, no". Even with the different "personalities" of the teachers, they all said it was fun to try and they would do the lesson again. Also, my FIL said he understood that his guy would be a little grumpy because they have a certain quota of cigars to roll a day and the class puts them behind.

  9. For Allure I could either depart June 19 for Cozumel Mexico, Falmouth Jamaica & Labadee Haiiti. Or June 26 for Philipsburg St. Maarten; San Juan Puerto Rico & Labadee Haiti

The Norwegian Escape departs June 18 for St Thomas US Virgin Islands, Tortola British Virgin Islands & Naasu Bahamas.

Having mostly been to the Bahamas and Mexico, I am afraid I can't really help you compare the ports to each other. However, if ports are important to you, then you can find quite a bit of information in the forums on the port pages.

However, I think choosing a boat depends on what is more important to you- ports, entertainment and activities, dining, price, or a combination.

Since the cruise is about split with port days and sea days, I would definitely look at the ships. For example, I personally look at the websites to find the amenities on the boats and compare them to each other. I think about which ones I am more likely to use. I would prefer to see "Mamma Mia" and the aquatheater over "After Midnight" and the quartet.

However, my husband loves eating and looks at the dining. He really enjoys the specialty restaurants and is a big Jimmy Buffet fan, so he is ready to go on the Escape. (I know some of the posters are not happy with Margaritaville, but my husband is ecstatic- Jimmy Buffet and it's complementary!)

We usually cruise smaller ships/itineraries that cost less money, so to get my husband on board with spending almost double on a cruise, guess who won? But, I am really excited to go on a mega boat and a new one at that!

All that to say, I think people here can tell you what which boat they prefer and why; many people seem to have strong opinions about which is best. I am sure they all will have valid points. As Mitsugirly has pointed out, it's good to hear others' viewpoints, but realize no one can tell you what YOU will enjoy.

I hope that doesn't come across as condescending as I am just trying to be helpful.:)

  10. We will be arriving in Nassau on the Quantum in April. Unfortunately we pull into port at 2pm and will depart at midnight. We are part large active group ages teens to 40's. Looking to do a beach and relax but would like to be back on ship by 7 pm. I have been to Nassau several times and not too impressed with Junkanoo beach. Is there another beach option that we could spend 3 to 4 hours at that is easy to get to and rent chairs and umbrellas. Any ideas?? Cabbage beach, Cable beach? Looking for something nice. Thanks for any assistance.

Have you checked into a resort beach day pass?

It's kinda old but be sure to look through it all as some of the older information has changed.

  11. Yep, all serve chicken, some grilled, fried, burgers, etc. I'm a seafood person, so, I've always had conch and fish. You can "google" and find menus and pictures of the area. As for crime, I always go in a group, never by myself, and not just in Nassau, any port. With that, from what I've heard, I'd never be in port after dark. Getting back to directions, the main road is Bay St; go up to Bay, about a block away from the ship, then go right. And if I'm in a large group, we've taken a cab/van back to the ship depending on the number or goombays we've had.

Thanks for the suggestion and quick reply!

  12. Not sure if this was mentioned yet or not, but I def wanted people to know. I guess I missed it if it was.

We just got off the Getaway today and spend the day at the Melia on Friday. Apparently, the non-motorized water sports are not included anymore with the day pass. We paid $120 for 2 adults and 2 children and felt really ripped off. I asked about the paddle boards and kayaks and was told the policy changed last year and now only guests can use the toys for free.

We brought my brother and sister in law and they felt the same. Beers were really expensive, too. I would definitely not go back. We did take the #10 bus which was fun.

Thanks for the update. The water sports were one of the main reasons we were planning on going in October. Now we know to look somewhere else.
