We are sailing to Pointe-à-Pitre this month, we'd hoped to get a taxi at the port and take a tour of the island and then stop off at a beach for a few hours. Would this be simple enough to arrange and has anyone experience of taxi costs.

    Hi CruisingFox27

Did you manage to get a taxi at the port to do an island tour / beach.  Do you have any information regarding price and are there many available when you get off the ship.

    Any replies greatly needed!

  2. And don't forget that when you buy the 15 cup coffee package any remaining cups not claimed are confiscated at the end of the cruise. :(

Is this on all Princess ships now - we are on the Caribbean Princess shortly and was going to purchase the coffee card - did'nt realise it is now put onto your cruise card. We normally have a few cups left and use them on a following cruise !

  3. Has anyone been to Maracas Beach recently from Port of Spain by taxi -- can you give me an idea of cost ? Our ship, Caribbean Princess, runs a trip @ $49.95 each for a 4 hour trip. There are 4 of us so would it be cheaper by taxi and do they wait for you whilst at the beach - or come back and pick you up ? Thanks for any info

  4. You can rent a taxi in Langkawi for 250 MR for 8 hours or 125 MR for 4 hours, we have pre-booked to meet us at Cruise Terminal , trip to Cable Car & Skywalk then onto a really nice Beach Club for a cocktail or two for the afternoon.

    Works out very good value

That sounds exactly what we would like to do whilst there in February.Would you be able to give me the details / contact for your pre-booked taxi. Also which Beach club are you going to....I was thinking of stopping off at Tanjung Rhi beach.

  5. We will be on our first IE cruise, 26 May, after doing Princess, P&O, MSC and Costa before.

I understand there are 2 buffet restarants and the Oasis (waiter service). Does anyone know the supplement to dine at the Oasis.

Do they have 'Gala Nights' on board - if so how many on a 7 day cruise.

I understand that it's a more relaxed ship..... what is the dress code for the evenings (men and women) Are jackets required at anytime for the men ?

Any other kind of information would be appreciated regarding the ship.

    Many thanks

  6. Can you please tell me which section of your cruise tickets the other services purchased appears? The reason I ask is that I've paid for the package and it is not showing on my tickets. I queried this with Costa UK as I was sure it had appeared on my tickets in previous years. The reply I got was that it is not reflected on my tickets (.... Yeah, I know that is what I told them,) but it would be automatically loaded to my Costa card. Feeling a bit nervous about that.

In previous years when I've had this package on the Srabian Guldf sailings, I was able to use the AI from the time I boarded to buy drinks.

It is on my cruise ticket i received via email from Costa:-

    Item 1 Itinerary

    Item 2 Cruise Detail

Item 3 Other Services purchased ....

    Special Services

Delivery place: DINING ROOM Time: 2300

Description: EXTRA-EXTRA ALL INCLUSIVE AD PKG-1378

  7. We are on this cruise in a few weeks time and have purchased the drinks package. Just received my Costa cruise tickets via email...under other services purchased it shows my all inclusive drinks package / delivery place - Dining Room / Time 23.00. Does this mean that we wont be getting our 'all inclusive' untill 23.00 on the first day. We arrive in Dubai at 7.00 after a night flight - very much doubt we will be around at that time !! Can anyone let me know the procedure - thanks

  8. Thanks for informative reply - very helpfull. Really looking forward to our visit as we have never been to that part of the World, not sure really what to expect and am so worried that i wont have the correct clothes. Normally i'm just a shorts and vest top girl on holiday - so am having to re think my holiday clothes this time!!

  9. Thank you everyone for the information.... i have a question on what to wear !!. I found this on a trip advisor comment (2013)

"There is a dress code. Gents, no shorts and the t-shirts must have sleeves. Ladies will be required to enter via a separate entrance and wear an abaya to cover themselves so be warned "

    Is this still aplicable ?

  10. Thank you!

I think my plan will be to go from the airport to port around 9am, drop the bags, get to the Burj and go up to the top, a look in the mall and then back to the ship.

When the ship arrives back in Dubai, we'll spend that day at the Dubai Creek, perhaps the Marina

I assume there isn't a shuttle from the Mall of the Emirates to Port Rashid?

    Thanks for the help!

We were planning on doing similar.....Are you going to pre-buy tickets for the Burj ? I'm just a bit concerned about any flight delays and would miss our slotted time.

Can anyone tell me how far it is from the Burj to the Marina via taxi

  11. We have a UK Great Britain passport - I understand that we require a visa for Dubai (UAE). Do we need to apply for this prior to our holiday or get it at the airport on arriving in Dubai. ??

We are travelling from Dubai to Oman and Abu Dubai - is only one visa required ? Does anyone know how much and which website to apply on (if required prior to flying)

Thanks for your help - I cant seem to find any new relevant threads on this

  12. We are at Dubai Port terminal now. Arrived before 10 am this morning. Costa staff very helpful..

They take your luggage (tagged with your cabin number) and say that these will be at your Cabin at 20.00. So you don't have to worry about those anymore, and they check your passport and boarding cards, and you fill in the medical form, but they give these back to you.

You are then free to go into Dubai by taxi, or the first free shuttle bus to a Mall is at 13.15, if you want to.

We are to begin boarding at 15.00.

Thank you so much for taking the time to report back to us. Hoping you have a wonderful cruise - any on board tips or trip reports would be gratefully accepted. I am in the process of planning our excursions at the moment.

  13. We are arriving this Friday (9th) in Dubai on an overnight flight at 7.10 am.

I was told that Embarkation would start at 12.00 noon, although they may let us on earlier.

Wouldn't be too happy about waiting until 20.00!

We also have a similar arrival time but our cruise is in March. On your return could you post to let us know how your emarkation went - time etc?? May need to prepare ourselves if we cant get a room till 20.00!!

any of your comment would be gratefully accepted

    Have a great Cruise !!

  14. I'm also going in March.Which date are you sailing on? I'm on 20 March sailings.

We are on that sailing....leaving uk 19th 20.15 arriving in Dubai 7.00am....so does that mean we can't get on board till the afternoon???? That's a long time to wait-any ideas on how I can find out? Also has anyone got any good tips about trips in Dubai Muscat, Oman and Abu Dhabi - Thanks
