  1. When you take a cruise, there are certain items to pay for. Cruise, air, parking, are examples of cost. These can vary from trip to trip. We watch our daily expenses at home so we can splurge on our cruises. This will give us a few $$$ extra to spend on our trip.

We book our excursions on our own. We don't get a drink package, unless it's included in the cruise fare. We drink the freebies, flavored water, lemonade, during the day. We are Diamond +, so we take advantage of our status and have our pre dinner drinks in the diamond lounge.

There are lots if ways to spend $$$ on a cruise, or save $$$ on a cruise. Hope this helps you some.

  2. Hi, my wife and I are stopping in St Petersburg for 3 days with Celebrity Silhouette in June 2018 and wish to do a 3 day tour.

On several sites people say save money and go with SPB rather than the official cruise tour.

Celebrity are charging £300.30 for the 3 day package, which has almost identical itinerary to SPB.

However SPB charge £309.48, so more expensive than cruise ship's own package. Add to that the suggested gratuities of 10% for the guide and 5% for the driver and the cost with SPB soars to£355.90. (Plus photo or video pass for Yusopov Palace are extra).

    Am I missing something here?

We were in St. Petersburg in June. We booked a 3 day tour with Alla Tours. They were fantastic. Limited to 16 people in an air conditioned van. Much much cheaper than the ships tour. Highly recommend

  3. Everything on Celebrity is in USD and drink prices have a gratuity added. No idea how to give you drink prices as there are hundreds of different drinks. Guess bottom line is look at base wine at $9, beer $6 and a drink at $8. If you have 4 or 5 drinks a day or like premium stuff then a package works. 18% added on top.

The more important question would be why are you deciding until you get on board? There are no discounts and you can use OBC if booked then. Also remember you can bring two bottles of wine on board at embarkation.

Celebrity are offering two free perks on their cruises right now. Drink Package, $300.00 on board credit, free gratuities or free internet. You can choose 2 out of the 4.
