  1. I was recently on the Escape in June. They only give out 75 numbers the first day at Headliners for the Vibe passes. They hold back passes for Haven guests that want to buy them. We did get them, but we had to walk very quickly from the minute we got on the ship to get to Headliners.

  2. Has anyone ever purchased an extra cabin while on board the ship? If so, was is discounted? I have a friend whose husband's snoring is out of control (lol). She wanted an extra room just so she could get a good night sleep. She already has 4 people in a balcony room and the sail date is in a couple of weeks. Just trying to help her out and give her suggestions. TIA

  3. Does anyone know if the Food Republic is open on Port Days? We are sailing in July out of NYC on the Escape. I was on the Escape two years ago and I think I remembered it being closed while we were in port? Being that we are going to be in Bermuda this time for 3 days, just wondering if they do the same. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

  4. With the drink package did you find there were any drinks that you could not get? I understand that the coffee bar is not covered.

    thanks

The only items that were not included are bottled water and the specialty coffees. I did order cappuccino two nights at dinner and was not charged. My

Friend was charged for hers... Not sure if it was a mistake.

  5. Thank you so much for your review! Did you have any issues with movement that we have heard so many talk about? It's the only thing keeping me from booking the Escape so far -- we have 3 kids and one of them and I have motion issues. We take medicine and I wear the patch, but I'd like to be mindful of that issue.

Thanks again for your review and if you have any photos, please post!

    Thanks

I was curious to know about the movement as well after reading so many reviews. We were a group of 15 and two from our group tends to get seasick. With that said, we had beautiful weather. Only one night did I feel the ship slightly move-nothing that would get you sick. Everyone was fine in my group and they all booked another cruise on the Escape! I guess it was fine! Lol

  6. The ship is beautiful with so much to do for all ages! Crew members told us that it was a busy week for them, but not as busy as it was in March Spring break. The ship never felt over crowded. A little background on us... DW (42), DH (44), DS (14), DS (11), and DD (2 years 11 months). Also traveling with us were my In laws ages 14-75. We are from NYC and chose this cruise because it was our spring break when NY schools were out. We have sailed NCL before on the Dawn, Gem, Breakaway, and Getaway. We've also sailed the Disney Fantasy, Carnival Miracle ( 2 night cruise) RCCL Explorer of the seas (2000) and last summer we sailed RCCL Liberty of the Seas (without children). This was the second cruise for my in-laws last one was with RCCL.

Check in was a breeze and we were on the ship by noon and we even had a boarding group # 15. We ate lunch at Savor and shortly after we finished our rooms were ready. We had cabin 15230 (category BA) Angled Balcony. Plenty of room for storage. Great Location!!!! My daughter who was on paper to stay in my sil room even stayed with us and we had enough space. I did ask the cabin steward to take away the coffee pot and tray with glasses and empty the refrigerator because my almost 3 daughter kept touching everything. He even brought my husband an extension cord for his Cpap machine. Alberto was our cabin steward and he was excellent.

    Dining:

We ate dinner at the Manhatten Room, Cagneys, Teppanyaki, le Bistro, & Taste. We never had a meal we didn't like. We ate at the buffet for breakfast and lunch and

the food was very good with a variety to choose from. We always found a table to sit at that was cleaned and always had utensils on the table and condiments always filled. NcL does such a better job especially with the buffet compared to the Liberty of the Seas. That buffet was a nightmare! We read so many good reviews about Food Republic so we decided to try it for lunch the last day when we were in Nassau, but they were closed. My advice is try it in the beginning of the week.

    Pool Area:

We always found a few lounge chairs by the pool area. It didn't seem to be a problem with chair issues. I could only review the family pool area because that is where I spent most of my time. My daughter loved the water sprinkler section by the family pool. She didn't want to leave! The first day it was a little crowded but by the rest of week there were less kids in there. I also like that the Escape has a little area in front of the family pool where the toddlers can go in. The water was up to my daughters ankles. I could sit right there and watch her. I really enjoyed watching my daughter enjoying herself! My sons loved the water slides and some of us adults did the tube slide. It was cool!! Only waited about 10 minutes on a sea day to go on. We had the drink package and never found it to be a problem to get a drink especially by the pool.

    Entertainment:

We loved the glow party and 80's party at spice H2O. We got to see one late night comedian show at headliners and they both were hysterical. My in laws really enjoyed the Latin music in the atrium and the Dueling Pianos. One night I got to go to the brew house and see Beau. He is very talented! My only complaint on this cruise is the 2 shows After Midnight and the Bratt pack. I didn't really care for After Midnight and the Bratt Pack was ok. It would have been nice if they had an acrobatic show or something more entertaining for a family. There were plenty of activities during the day to keep you busy like, Deal or No Deal, Bingo, balloon twisting, and pizza making. Never a dull moment on the ship!

    Overview:

We had a fantastic time on this ship and loved every minute! The staff was so accommodating! Every time I walked by a crew member especially with my daughter they would look at my daughter and say " hi princess". They made her feel special. Even the chef at Teppanyaki gave her a little wind up toy and he entertained her at the table. Although every employee we encountered were so friendly and helpful, one that stood out to us is Jacquline from the Philippines. She was our waitress at Le bistro and my children would see her at the buffet and talk to her. She was so sweet! I like the way NCL welcomes you when you come on board. Even when you come back from a port day they have cold towels and drinks set up outside. It's a nice added touch! I have to stay even we we disembarked they were playing music and saying goodbye to us! This was the first NCL cruise for my in laws so I was worried what they would think of it......they loved it!!! They said there is no comparison to RCCL... They thought the food was much better and the service was top notch. Last summer my husband and I sailed on RCCL Liberty of the seas, and we were so disappointed with that cruise. I don't think we would ever said RCCL again!! We loved the Escape so much so that we booked it again for July 2017! We can't wait to go back!!!

  7. We are flying into FLL airport on a Friday evening at 7pm the night before our cruise. We are leaving out of the port of Miami on Saturday. Any suggestions for a hotel in FLL? We are hoping to find a hotel with shuttle service from airport and breakfast. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

  8. Thanks, Bob. That makes sense. Since I can use the plan I have in Bermuda also, I think we're good. My MIL is house-sitting for us, and I think she'll feel a lot better if she knows she can reach us even while we're on the ship, but I couldn't figure out how it would work.

My husband just inquired about this as well with Verizon. We don't have the international plan with Verizon, but a friend told him once we get to Bermuda we could use the MAGIC Jack app to call home. If we purchase the " cruise ship package" from Verizon I wanted to make sure we could receive and make calls at sea. It's our first time cruising without our children. Just wanted to make sure we could be in contact with them at all times!

  9. Just curious to know how crowded does the adult pool get on the Liberty of the Seas? It will be the first time we are cruising without our children. On our past cruises one of us always went to the pool early just to grab one chair. I'm hoping this won't be the case because it's the adult pool! lol

    Thank you!!!
