  1. there is at least 2 touchscreens located next to the elevators and a few by guest services.

Im guessing there are more than one elevator , which ones are you referring to? Are guest services on the same deck as we board or are there more than one location?

  2. There is a booking service at the dining reservation counter onboard the Norwegian Escape, or you may use the touch screens throughout the ship.

There is a Latitude Membership Line that can assist in booking reservations.

Another option is the Norwegian Iconcierge App which allows u to make changes on your phone.

Please tell me exactly where to look for these touch screens. I would like to take care of this before our room is ready and if for some reason the APP isn't working for us.

  3. Yes.

I have a different question , maybe you or someone can answer . We have decided we'd rather not use the specialty Dinning perk and perhaps choose the internet 250 min perk instead . Are there any costs associated with this if we choose it before our trip next week , Or any restrictions?

  4. Sushi for lunch with a $7 upcharge is allowed.

Any Harvest Caye bars, restaurants, or venues, Food Republic, The Bake Shop, Ice Cream Bar, Gelato, specialty items in the Asian restaurant, Special Occasion/Holiday menus (New Year's, Christmas, etc.), Jazz Brunch, Wine Lovers and Murder Mystery lunches, and beverages are not included as part of the Specialty Dining Packages.

So , you can choose 3 of those if you have that perk? and can you answer the question about lunch or Breakfast?

  5. We have a room assigned on Deck 9 ~ Ive looked at the deck map, it shows that it's a state room , balcony , B3 . Could someone explain what this room will be like , and how it is to be on this floor . Looks like its directly above all the action. Im not sure that that is a good thing. Pros? Cons?

  6. When you board, go the the MDR and choose a gf entree, same for dinner, unless you meet with the dietary person early, in which case you can arrange you dinner (and breakfast if you want). Before heading to whatever restaurant you are going to, just give him/her a call. Specially was trickier, dd just chose gf options on the menu, maybe with sauces left off. In moderno, they let her know what was safe (the delicious cheese bread was safe). NCL is great for gluten free.

Thank you ! Any other eating gluten free tips you can give me ?

  7. :DI made reservations online, it's all under dining. I didn't realize you couldn't either until

I read about from someone else. Worked out great for us. I'm gluten free also- but that's a whole other story- they were amazing!! 😊

I have to be Gluten Free too. We are going to be on the Escape in September. I have informed my TA and the cruise line . What were your experiences when letting the MDR know what you'd like for the following evening . Where did you eat on the day you embarked ? What about the specialty dinning ~ any better than others for you? we will be choosing 3 . did you risk the buffett?

  8. DaisyL ~ what great information you have provided ! We've only cruised twice and pretty much went in unprepared on the first one and only slightly less unprepared on the second . I still feel like a newbi ! Could you please tell me where the drink of the day list is posted ? Are those the drinks someone brings around sometimes or do you go to the bars to get them ?

Thank you SO much for your review !!

  9. member gaylemh posted this report about his stay there in 9/12:

I just returned from my Explorer cruise to Bermuda. We did the Coco Reef Day Pass on the second day. The place was great for adults looking for a quiet beach day. There were only the 8 from our group and a handful from the resort while we were there. In the afternoon we were the only ones at the pool. I think kids would be bored. The grounds and lobby were beautiful, but you need to be able to walk a steep hill and steep stairs down to the beach and back up from the pool. The beach right in front of the resort was very rocky, but a few steps to the right (facing the ocean) you can swim at Elbow Beach where there are no rocks. Mickey's is right there too. When we first got there it was high tide, so you needed to go up one flight of stairs to walk over to Elbow Beach, but a little while later you were able to walk over right on the beach.

The outside eating area was closed, because they were painting, but was opening again the next day. The inside restaurant was very nice, and you could go in with just a cover up over your bathing suit. With the day pass you could order either a appetizer and entrée, or an entrée and dessert. You also got a glass of wine, beer or soda.

Some of the choices for lunch were:

    Butternut squash soup

    House Salad

    Caesar's Salad

Fish Sandwich/fries - everyone that had it said it was excellent

    Hamburger/fries -

Cuban Sandwich/fries (pulled pork) - was told it was very good from people in our group

Chicken sandwich/fries - the person that had it didn't like it

There was also some kind of vegetable baguette and I think one more, but I don't remember what it was.

    The fries were really good.

rum pineapple crepe with rum raisin ice cream - excellent

    a strawberry dessert

    brownie with ice cream

    a chocolate hazelnut dessert

    fruit pies

    ice cream

Overall everyone in our group thought the food was very good, and if you just went there to eat it would easily cost you $35-$40.

Towels, chairs and umbrellas were provided.

For the cost of $49 it was a great day, and I would go on another trip to Bermuda. One couple went to look at the rooms while we were there, and are thinking about going for a land vacation.

The cost of the taxi for 1-4 people was $35 + tip each way.

I took a few pictures, but I still have to download them.

The pictures he mentioned in his last sentence are located here.

    SBtS

Wonderful info as always - could we take a bus to get here? Is he saying that the $40 per person covers the lunch and beverage as well ?

  10. G'day fellow Celiacs, (we spell it coeliac) How can one avoid the buffet and its alleged cross contamination re gluten as Celebrity says you should do? The MDR is not open on port days right?

I am a medically diagnosed Coeliac, but you have to risk some things and the buffet is one. Just use commonsense guys. I like the idea of menu items at dinner being marked GF though. If they can mark those menus why not mark breakfast and lunch menus too? Just a thought. On Aracdia last year the tucker was full of gluten at lunch, all that English food, pies, fish and chips etc. I ate Salads for lunch every day, good for me I suppose. I just hope on Solstice next week they have the alcoholic apple cider - Strongbow or similar, as that is my GF drink these days, plus muchas vino of course.

Room service worked great for me ... it felt safer

  11. I was limited with selections with the gluten, egg, dairy and shellfish allergies but my DH had gluten free French toast in the MDR and gluten free pizza in the buffet. The French toast was requested one day in advance in the MDR and the Pizza one day in advance at the buffet. He didn't particular care for the pizza crust though. He could of had the pancakes if he wanted. I never heard of any gluten free hotdog or hamburg buns on this trip.

We were also offered gluten free bread with every meal. This was store bought and they provided the list of ingredients at the beginning of the cruise. I prefer the UDI brand bread but it has egg so I can't have it.

We also brought on our own Almond Milk (Earth's Own tetra pack size) and Organic Ville salad dressing. Our waiter offered the kitchen to store it for us so we labelled everthing and he brought to the table each meal. It was really great that I did not have to carry it from the cabin each time.:)

The menus were indeed allergy friendly to a point. They clearly indicated which were gluten free and dairy and a couple of others I can't recall right now. There has been discussions about labelling the buffet similarly in the future. Fingers are crossed for improvements in the buffet delivery. Especially the beautiful Sea day brunch, that would be amaizing........:D

I too need to eat GF due to Celiac here is part of one of the responses I got :

We have received your notice regarding your food needs and will forward the

information to the ship. We do not have a separate gluten free menu. Instead, we

prefer to customize the existing menus on board, which gives you more freedom of

choice while still catering to your individual needs. Any item on our menus can

be modified so as to minimize or remove the ingredients that may be harmful. By

speaking with your head waiter in the dining room your needs will be

communicated to the galley and an open line of communication will be established

    among everyone concerned.

    And here is another:

Thank you for contacting us. We bake our own gluten free bread onboard everyday.

We can prepare rolls if you like but unfortunately we do not have gluten free

pancakes. Please refrain to eat at the buffet area since we cannot control cross

contamination there. If you would like you can speak with the restaurant

manager, but we recommend you eat at the dining room.

We will be on the Summit. We cruised with another cruise line and found that room service worked well especially for breakfast. Is the main dining room open for breakfast or lunch ? what kinds of things are offered for room service at lunch time?

BTW - I would definitely support the idea of having UDI products on board...they are the best IMO.
