Hello....The Crown Princess is leaving Vancouver October 18th for a 15 night cruise to Hawaii. We have been waiting patiently for this decision to be made😀

Hello Everyone
My husband and I had originally planned on taking this cruise, but changed it up to Hawaii next month...so we board The Crown on Tuesday, October 18th
Is there a clinic at the cruise ship terminal for those of us who wish to take the covid test the day we board?
Otherwise we would be doing the covid test the day we leave from Victoria, , which would be Monday....stressful, but necessary. We are travelling from Victoria on a Monday to catch the 11:00a m ferry as there is a bus that will bring us into downtown Vancouver.....makes doing the test that day a bit rushed. And I am not tech- savy to do a virtual test......my, oh, my.....LOL
Thanks for your advice...... hope the ship is doing well with her engine problems....haven't heard too much lately about that......the weather, on the other hand, is out of our control!!!!
Enjoy your cruise

Has anyone actually seen something in print by Princess stating that the scheduled dry dock will address the propulsion/generator/electrical whatever the issues are? I do not have high hopes they will be able to resolve whatever the issues are. I am in the camp of they should never have restarted Crown in the poor shape she is in. I have a November booking to the South Pacific that I will cancel because I am just very very afraid of setting foot on that ship. I am imagining being stranded out in the middle of the Pacific ocean unable to get anywhere or that the cruise turns into a huge disappointing disaster. It makes me angry that Princess has already re-deployed Crown cruises in 2023 to another ship. Hey, what about those of us who were book in later 2022 after Alaska. We would be stuck with this limping ship ???? If they would swap the Crown for another ship, I would keep my booking.
My husband and I are booked for The Crowns first cruise after drydock to Hawaii.....I am following all the threads that I can to keep up to date on what may or may not happen. I have concerns for sure, but hoping her current problems will be fixed for that 15 day cruise

We are taking a one night cruise from Vancouver to Seattle next week…..just for an excuse to get out of town.
We got to talking: if you could have only one thing to eat in the MDR ( which, in this situation, will be pretty accurate), what would it be ?
Me?….French onion soup !!!!!!!!!
That is my husbands favorite as well......I enjoy the salmon

I also hope this bill gets introduced and passed! It was so nice not having the stop in Victoria (been there, done that) and having more time in Ketchikan. Also, prefer having a full Sea Day on the last day back to Seattle!
Such a disappointment to read that you do not want to spend time in my home town.......as you say, been there done that......hopefully others do not feel the same way

As far as I understand for now, there is still a Travel Advisory for Canadians wanting to go to The U S
I would want to be 100% sure that medical and health insurance would be valid for both my husband and myself before we left Canada........same as before Covid
That is the big stumbling block right now........if I can get a straight answer from our insurance provider that we are covered as in the past, we would be comfortable in travelling
More than a few people in Canada and The U S are a bit confused with all the information available right now
Yesterday"s explanation as to why the border is still closed to Canadians until at least August 21st, did not help the cause
There are cruises to Alaska from Seattle until the end of September. Time will tell.........
-
Both my husband and I received 2 doses each of Pfizer
Thankyou for your reply
-
I am so disappointed.......I foolishly thought as a fully vaccinated Canadian that I might be able to cruise from Seattle to Alaska, albeit my cruise date is in September........
This rollercoaster ride of emotions is very uncomfortable......
The news release states that the borders will remain closed until at least August 21st......my cruise date would be September 12th
Nothing is booked......no money is involved.......financially, no worries.........emotionally, I am not a happy cruiser
As someone who so enjoys planning and packing early for a much anticipated cruise........isnt that half the fun.......not being able to control the present outcome, is not something I am enjoying at the moment
As a senior lady of 74, being able to express some deep dissatisfaction with the ongoing border closing, is much appreciated on a day I had hoped for a more positive outcome
Good health and kindness to all

I watched it as well from Vancouver Island, Canada
Loved to hear the ship's horn and watch the fireboats........also all the happy waves from those on The Edge and on shore
It did feel like old times, for sure😀

Is the first cruise to Alaska this season still leaving tomorrow, July 24th?
I have been watching the webcam at Juneau as well.....so looking forward to sailing back there, but not until 2023, as next years cruises are already booked
Living on the west coast of Canada and travel for us is still quite restricted

Thankyou so much for those pictures, especially of that lovely cruise ship
San Diego is one of our most favorite ports to cruise from.....love it there
My husband and I will be cruising for the first time on HAL Koningsdam next April to Hawaii from Vancouver B C.
Another quiet cruise ship season in Victoria and I am so hopeful next summer will see the ships back in port

This would be great for cruisers I think. No more needless stops or out of the way routes.
As a cruiser on the west coast of Canada, I will be disappointed if this passes. My home town of Victoria B C will be greatly impacted
I am so hoping something can be agreed upon for next year🤔

Thank you, OHCruiser -- I used the 2nd link and it took me to HAL website -- no problem!
I have also saved it, as I have had nothing but trouble the last while, trying to access it!:)

problem solved! :o :D

Good Morning Everyone :)
I would like to thank all of you who post the Fleet report each and every day as well. And watching all the ships leave on Sunday from beautiful Fort Lauderdale, while I am, for the most part, watching the rain fall and the wind blow, albeit from my comfortable living room, is a lovely way to pass the time!:p
I would like to ask, if you are getting any sound from the site -- especially as the ships are leaving.
I have everything set on my computer as usual, and in the past have received sound.
So far, this Sailaway Season, this is not happening
Just curious!
Thanks so much
Linda

Hi Everyone
Watching the ships leave from their Florida ports is a past time I enjoy
But I am not getting any "sound" on the Fort Lauderdale webcam site
Perhaps I need to fix this on my computer or is everyone else experiencing this
Thanks in advance:)

So true about "being disappointed about the things you didn't do"
I put off cruising with our dearest and best friends for many years -- my anxiety and panic were, to me, unbearable
Finally, in 2007, we did a cruise and fly -- so on the ship for 3 nights and then a short stay in Las Vegas, and flew home
When we left Astoria, the weather was not good, and so right after dinner, I said "good night" and went back to our cabin
I put on some lovely calming music that was available on the tv, dimmed the lights, and wrapped myself in a flannel blanket I had brought from home
I was so calm and so comfortable in that lovely little cabin. As we also learned from our friends -- if possible, book a cabin on a low deck and try and get one mid-ship
You will feel very little motion in those cabins and that became my safe and comfort spot f things got rough -- I always knew I had that safe place to go to
Now, I am so addicted to cruising -- we try and take one or two cruises a year
I also take my "seasick bands" with me -- I have seen a few others wear them -- even on Formal Nights!
We are leaving in 2 weeks for a short cruise, and I still get anxious, but over the years have found ways to cope with the anxiety
As, everyone else has said, work through your worries -- you will be so glad you did not deny yourself this lovely way to travel -- You can do -- believe in yourself :)
Best Wishes
Linda

DH and I are taking the May 7th, 2016 r/t Alaska cruise from Seattle on The Westerdam
We are wanting to add some more days to the trip by adding a Pacific Coastal to it
So far, I have found 2 different itineraries for it, as VictOriann mentioned, and, if I am correct, the dates didn't match up:confused: to coincide with leaving Seattle on May 7th
So I am waiting for the Pacific Coastal cruise dates to be announced and then hope to extend our cruise by a few more days
We did this a year and a half ago, but had to change cabins in between cruises, which was no problem

I wanted to pay the crew appreciation for an upcoming cruise and the computer kept telling me my personal information was not correct
Finally had to call.....very frustrating.......quite often the person speaking to you does not have the best English......why are the computers not letting us access them?
