  1. Just off Sojourn --- my understanding is the "new-build" will have an additional deck and be "similar" to the Odyssey class but not exact. May have some new features.

    More rumor/speculation:

We are just off the Odyssey.....a crew member told me the new ship would have one more deck and be just a bit wider.

  2. We are in Timaru today. Very windy and a bit chilly. They had trouble settin up the gangway, so we were delayed 1/2 hour getting off the ship........not a big deal

Yelena took great care of us last night in Restaurant 2. Carmelized banana dessert was the best so far on this trip. Emma looks after us at breakfast in the Colonnade each morning. Sean is tending bar on the pool deck. Jon is usually at the bar in the club.

We had cocktails in the observation lounge last night before dinner. Pierre was on the piano. Quite a crowd in there

  3. I am on the Odyssey now. We had a fairly smooth crossing and perfect weather for cruising Milford Sound......and Doubtful and Dusky.

Food and service on the ship are first rate........we have sailed several times on the little sisters, but this is our first time on one of the bigger Seabourn ships.

The staff organized a nice Super Bowl party in the grand lounge yesterday........hot dogs, hamburgers, wings, chips, beer, etc.

We are dining in Restaurant 2 tonight.......Yelena is the manager there and she does a great job of making a special evening.

  4. Hey Jeanne.......I'm glad to hear you made the trip again this year.....and that the ship was healthy. Norovirus puts a damper on the fun, doesn't it?

We are in NYC this holiday season...nice and quiet...and cold.

Enjoy the trip north......snow predicted for Friday.

And Happy New Year to you and yours,

    Jim

  5. oh that's great- I cannot recommend tommy highly enough- i've known him for a few year's now and he is an extremely professional and reliable young man.

Oh, you are going to love Hoi An- it's my most favourite place in the world. The atmosphere and the restaurants are just amazing. and the people just gorgeous.

If anyone else is interested, I know Tommy can also arrange large vehicles too if you have a group interested in just a transfer or a tour

We arranged for Tommy to pick us up at Danang and take us to Hoi An on our recent cruise. Unfortunately Tommy was not there to meet us at the port.

We reached him on the phone and he seemed very apologetic. We got a taxi to Hoi An and Tommy unexpectedly met us there and apologized in person.

Though Tommy obviously let us down, it seems clear that he is normally quite reliable and a first-rate guide.
