  1. Wow! Plenty of room to put cotton, a piece of cloth, whatever, around the ring to keep it clean. Use your imagination. It would be a surprise, anyway. I didn’t expect such negative comments!! I suppose other fruits would work, but, an avocado goes back together seamlessly. Funny, I am being knocked for my suggestion, and nobody thought that “ me and my girlfriend “ should be changed to...my girlfriend and I. I guess I am old, and incorrect grammar grates.

  2. These are great around the ship. Especially good at the buffet. Put your plate on the seat. But...they seem to grow when in the cabin. Learn how yours folds up. Also, put your luggage tag, and name on yours. They will take it from your table at dinner, and I have seen mine go back and forth as it was taken to the wrong table by the server. The basket underneath is great for carrying your camera, water, etc.

  3. Having just returned from both ports, it is hot there. A scooter is a life saver. Also, the "10 minute walk to town", I dare any normal person to do it. ( Curacao). Get a scooter ahead of time. Ships are big. She will appreciate not being worn out by just walking to breakfast. You can do it pretty last minute, too. Just hope it fits in your cabin. I won't cruise without one again.

  4. Hello all,

My mom is joining us on a cruise in a few weeks and has mobility issues. She can walk, but not long distance due to severe knee problems. I would love for her to enjoy 2 of the ports that we will be at from 7-9pm. Since she can walk, she doesn't really want to rent a scooter to have on board.

Does anyone know of any reputable companies on either Aruba or Curacao that will rent a scooter for a day?

  5. Thank you! I have OA in my hip and back. I had a hip replacement over 2.5 years ago and it still isn't right due to having 2 nerves damaged. Anyway....stupid question.....how do you find out what level it is going to be on ahead of time? Same one as the life boats? I can see this tip being a trip saver for me.

    Save

It is on the back of your stateroom door.

  6. Put a soup bowl on top of a plate, with a little lunch on the side...you are talking 4-5 pounds! The plates couldn't be heavier! No trays, either. Just off today. The plates are so heavy that the people bringing clean ones handed them over about 4 at a time to the other servers.

The knives at the Tuscan Grille are designed to having the blade, blade side up. Really weird. It took a little getting used to. After a while I could get the blade to lie sideways, but not a normal knife. The Elite breakfast is improved, in my opinion. They now TOAST the bagels. Not like in the past. And...they have normal bagels if you ask.

Oh, if you are a fan of the "hoses" at the four corners of the thalassotherapy pool, they are GONE!

    Sorry for the rant.

  7. We are ready!!!

Please take care of the ship (Ha Ha).

Our last Cruise to Bermuda was 5 years ago, just before Aqua was added. Deck 8 Left Rear on the Summit (first Cruise on Celebrity Horizon May 1995). My Retired Camera Hobby has taken a few jumps since then. The wife even started a Travel Photo Webpage last week (loads of requests).

Captain's Club, finally make Elite third day out.

I think...correct me if I'm wrong....you make Elite after you return from your cruise.

  8. We enjoy sailing on the Summit very much. For a "small" ship, having three banks of elevators is fantastic. Show me three banks on a large ship! It makes getting around pretty easy.

The crew is great. The pastry chef is top shelf. You realize how good the pastry/deserts are when you go to another ship and have the "same" thing. I like the bar servers, too. I recognize them, and...they remember what I drink.

We just enjoy not having to wash dishes, grocery shop, etc. go, and you will enjoy!

  9. We have taken the Summit several times. We like May because we like a quiet cruise with few children. The weather is perfect, and you may find you will need to pull your drapes in the afternoon to help the air conditioner.

When you go into a shop, or hop in a bus, please say "hello" to the person driving, or running the shop. They appreciate this. We are so used to walking in and asking if they have...whatever. They like to be greeted first. We also have noted that Summit passengers are much happier with their cruise than the Breakaway passengers. The food is better, and there is more room. They seem to be squashed together.

We are in our late 60's and really late 60's. We just enjoy the ambiance of the ship and Bermuda itself.

We sail on the 15th. We are the couple behind the vodka gimlets! 😊

  10. We've been to Bermuda many times. The best times are on the balcony after dinner. You can hear the band at the Frog and Onion. It is very nice to have coffee there in the morning. May weather is warm.

Ironically, we chose an ocean view this May. The price difference was too much.

We may take another cruise this summer. We can use the difference toward the next cruise. You will love the Summit.

  11. I have been on the Summit many times. Mostly to Bermuda. At 8:30 there may be some light outside the window, but by the time you have looked at the menu, it doesn't really matter if you have a window seat or not. It is DARK outside.

Yes, sometimes we have been quite close to our neighbors, even our neighbors neighbors have talked to us. After a while, we all return to our table mate. Should you be unhappy, there is the maître de to help out. We are looking forward to our first select dining option this May.

  12. We will be on the Summit in May. Select dining. We will probably be given a "buzzer", and told to wait a bit. My question, will we be able to get a mixed drink in cellar masters? I know we could take the elevator down to the bar outside the dining room on deck four...reflections? Revelation? What ever, I would like to just walk across the hall to the nearby bar, Cellar Masters.

Sitting here in the melting snow, it just doesn't seem all that bad, but...😊

  13. We have stayed on the Summit several times. A standard cabin has a chair close to the sliding glass door to the balcony. A Concierge class has a sofa. You will appreciate the extra space. It is a larger cabin. You will like that with baby "stuff".

We were on a two week cruise to Canada with twin toddlers. The parents were clueless. They always came to dinner 15-20 minutes late, and the kids screamed. They thought it was fine.

I asked a crew member if there was a chance they could get a baby sitter, and was told if they are in diapers, crew couldn't change them for privacy concerns, so no sitters.

You want to feel sorry for the parents, but they sure put a damper on dinner for a lot of people. I felt they should have used different venues for dinner. The children were very unhappy. The buffet would have given them faster food, and that might have helped hungry kids.

  14. We always request a table for two. When we get to the room, there is a card with ONLY our table number. It doesn't state if it is a table for two.

It would be nice if there was more info. We ALWAYS have to go to the maître d to ask what kind of table it is. We always have to change it, as our request is never honored.
