So multi-voltage steamer, not 110V? The adapter doesn't change the voltage and most portable converters don't support the wattage of a steamer. If you've done this before around the world, you probably have the right pieces of equipment. Otherwise you're going to carry a beautiful fire hazard that will fry the first time you plug it in...

It’s technically a converter.   Thanks for your concern, I have used it in Europe and Asia with no issues.

Are you staying in Singapore? Singapore is 230 V and uses a UK style plug. Most of the rest of the Pacific in that area (maybe all) is 230 V, and they vary in plug type.

You can't use a US 110V steamer in most of the rest of the world.

    I carry an adapter everywhere.

  3. I know you can’t bring steamers onboard but I have a crazy question.  We are continuing our vacation for 3 weeks after our cruise and wondering if we turn in our steamer when boarding will we be able to get it back at the end of the cruise?  We will be disembarking in Singapore if that makes a difference.

  4. Wondering how overnight works.  Not sure if we will be tendering or docking.  My question is is the gangway open all night?  Is it different depending on docking or tendering?   Thanks

  5. I’ve only done it once so by no means an expert.  Flew from Detroit to Korea on delta, premium select seats.   They were kind of like a lazy boy and had delta one food and drinks.  The final flight was on Korean Air and we were in economy, but their economy is so much nicer than us economy.  We just tried to sleep as much as possible on the flight.  We’re in our mid 60’s and doing it again 2 years later, it’s worth it!

My experience is that they are very different- we really love the Oasis class ship, Freedom class ships were very good- but IMO Adventure of the Seas a big disappointment- so Ithe only similarity was they are royal.  Any choice the OP makes will be a big upgrade from the Adventure.

We enjoyed our Adventure cruises.  Loved the promenade.  I guess my concern with Symphony is the ship feeling over crowded, wait times for dinner, finding seating at pools and bars.  Concerns with independence is having fewer activities for our diverse age group.

  7. I’m planning a family cruise and comparing these 2 ships.  Not exactly sure how many will be going in our group but know we’ll have 2 adults in 60’s, 3 in 30’s, a 5 year old and a 2 year old.   What are pros and cons?  The largest ship I have sailed on is Adventure.   How do these ships compare?  Are they more crowded, wait times for my time dining, etc.   Not really too concerned with ports, more about ships.  I also know this is all subjective but would like others opinions.   Thanks

  8. I always buy alcohol on islands and happily hand it over to them when I board.  Maybe it is confiscated, but to me that sounds like I’m trying to sneak it onboard when that’s not the case.  I really would just like it to be delivered to me on my last night just like any other booze I purchase n an island.  That’s all I’m asking, will it be delivered to my stateroom or will I never see it again?

No, they return alcohol also at the end.  Many people buy bottles in the Caribbean to take home

That’s what I am trying to find out.  I know if I buy a bottle in the middle of the cruise they take and return it to me on the last night.  Will the same thing happen if it’s the start of the cruise?  I’m not trying to sneak booze on, I am hoping to buy some while in Puerto Rico prior to the cruise to take home.  I will not have enough time after the cruise to make purchases.

Some would argue that is a downgrade (I would not)--that P2 is a "real" balcony while CI is not.

    I saw a porthole

I was under the impression that none were real balconies on Ascent.   All I know is our p2 was the furthest front, deck 6 over the theater, and our c1 is midship deck 12.  For me this location is an upgrade, plus I didn’t pay for it as I booked a guarantee veranda. I’m not real picky about the cabin I am in because I don’t spend any awake time there, lol.

If the new cabin is not in a category you bid on then it wasn’t a Move Up.  Sounds like Celebrity needed the cabin they originally assigned you so they moved you another cabin.  Glad you like your new location better.

Very happy with new cabin. I went from a p2 to a c1!

  12. I reserved a guarantee veranda cabin and had my cabin number the day after I made my reservation, about 6 months before sailing.   A couple weeks ago I was able to bid on move up, and I did, on 2 categories.  Today when I looked at my reservation I noticed a different cabin assigned (much better), but I have not been charged on my credit card and my move up offers still say pending. (I actually canceled my bids, because my new cabin is great) My new cabin is not a category that I bid on.

So, my question is did I hit the jackpot?  Did the upgrade fairy come through?

  13. After reading this I am not sure if MTD is what I thought it was.  In the past we just went to the dining room and were seated.  Sometimes we had a 10-15 minute wait, but never anything longer.  We never made reservations, do we need to do that now?

The number of specialty dining depends on the length of the cruise. If you have one dining, your cruise is probably less than a week. Sometimes NCL gives $50.00 off per cabin for each port stop/excursion and sometimes it's an only $50.00.period.  Check with your travel agent.

This is what my reservation states:

    1 x Shore Excursion Discount
    2 x 2 Meal Speciality Dining Package

I get 2 people for 2 specialty meals, but what is the shore excursion?  I booked directly so no travel agent to ask.

Thank you for the information.  Not using the Manila airport, fortunately.  Last day, going directly to the cruise port to meet the ship.

Just remember no matter where you are in Manila the traffic is bad, not just the airport.  I just wanted to give you an example of what to expect in case you haven’t been before.
