  1. In order to have the Havana Area stay an exclusive area they need to make access by your sail and sign card, instead of a wristband. We kept our wristbands from the Vista and Horizon, I could easily take them and use them again if I was that type of person. It did bother me seeing people who were not supposed to be in the area there as we paid extra to have that access. Carnival needs to change how the area is accessed during the day. I put that on my review for the Vista and Horizon.

  2. We enjoyed the Vista this past June, we did have a Havana Cabin so that was a huge plus! Hands down my favorite part of any ship we have sailed on. We only ate in the main dining room twice and it was ok, not great! I agree about the Alchemy Bar the drinks were great but yes always very busy. Our teen daughter said the ship was ok, not her favorite, her favorite so far has been the Breeze. We are booked on the Horizon in June, Havana cabin, can't wait!

  3. Only problem is there have been reports that the sandwiches have been premade. Prefer them made to order so I can get it my way.

yes they were premade, so if you didn't like something on it, staff was not happy that they would have to actually make a whole new sandwich.

  4. The corner balconies seemed so cool. The room isn't much bigger. It those corner balconies seem pretty awesome.

The aft wrap is a great cabin! We were in Cabin 7450 on the Vista in June. The balcony is huge, only downside is there is no shade or cover, so when it rains you either get wet or can't use it. I'm glad we have experienced the aft wrap but I am not sure I will book one again.

  5. It appears on Carnival's website that the Asian and Italian restaurants are only open for dinner. I think I read a review that said they were open at lunch as well. Can anyone comment on if they are open at lunch, if so is the cost $15 an adult like dinner with the same menu? Is it every day for lunch or just some?

I see I can book reservation online prior to, but I hate to do that as I would like to pick a night I don't love the MDR menu. Anyone comment on how busy, difficult it is to get in to eat the day of?

Is the food quality enough to be worth the extra cost?

Thanks in advance for what you can offer.

Both the italian and asian places are open for lunch and are free. The menus are different at lunch, Both are very good!

They seem to be very busy so if you wait to book on board, need to do it early in the week. If you book online you can always cancel once on board.

I did not care for the asian restaurant at dinner, the food was just ok, service was great. The italian is great!

  6. poohbear- you're planning to park at the port. If you're driving from NC in one day, you'll be ready to get off the road by the time you get into central NJ. IMO there is no reason to push on beyond exit 9 to find a hotel in a more urban, congested, expensive, and often confusing area.

The next morning you can check the traffic reports (880 & 1010) for the Hudson River crossings - Lincoln Tunnel, Holland Tunnel, and GW Bridge. Lincoln Tunnel is probably best for the Manhattan Cruise port, but the other two are options in case of a huge traffic issue. Plan to leave between 9-9:30 and take the cars only lanes on the turnpike as far as they go and follow the Lincoln .

Tunnel signs. It should take about an hour to get to the Lincoln Tunnel.

Thank you! I agree about staying somewhere less congested for the night. When we do drive to our port, we like to stay a couple hours outside the port and drive the rest of the way in the morning. I appreciate the suggestions and will look at our options for hotels. I know we have almost a year but I am very excited to take a cruise without the kids on a brand new ship!

  7. You're coming from the south? Exact date you sail? Manhattan cruiseport? Budget? Number of people? Type of beds? Are you willing to stay an hour out of the city and drive in on the cruise morning? Any shopping requirements?

Is New York sightseeing on your agenda?

Please answer all the questions so that we can give you answers that suit your particular needs.

Yes, we are coming from the South, NC. We are sailing June 13, 2018(Wednesday) out of Manhattan on Carnival Horizon. We are very willing to stay outside of the city. We will drive up on Tuesday June 12 and spend the night. We are not planning on really doing any sightseeing while we are there. Its just my husband and I so 1 bed in a room is fine!

  8. Another thought is to stay at a hotel in NJ not too distant from NYC, drive in the morning of the cruise and park at the Manhattan Cruise terminal. It is $40/night and safe. Most important .... you car is immediately available when your ship disembarks. Pricey yes but super convenient.

any suggestions on Hotels in NJ to stay at pre-cruise. We are planning on parking at the terminal as of right now. Not sure where to start looking for a hotel. TIA

  9. We are traveling with another couple and we LOVE to play cards and games. We are not quite players and we like our cocktails so where would you suggest to do that on the Dream? Would we find tables outside somewhere that would be suitable or do we need to find a bar?

In June, we played in Ocean's Plaza during the day. At night after dinner we sat in the Aft part of the Lido buffet, right by the entrance to the Aft pool. We had easy access to the Aft bar and we didn't bother any one!

  10. Anyone with experience on Dream's Club 02?

We were just on the Dream in June. Our daughter went the first night for the meet and greet, it is listed in the fun times and on the Club 02 schedule(we received that when we signed the kids up on the ship that afternoon.

She met several people the first night, and they hung out most of the week.

    she loved it!

  11. Who did you call to get the discount? Dolphin Discovery? We are headed there in a week & a half and plan on doing the dolphin swim. Was it great when you went last July? Thanks!

I called Dolphin Discovery. It was great. One of the kids favorite things we ha e done. Photos very expensive but we had to buy a few.
