  1. I just checked my Cruise Planner and I have more OBC than I had before. Nothing has been cancelled and I can't think of any reason I would have received a credit. Is there a way to see where the OBC came from in the Cruise Planner or would I have to call Celebrity? All the previous OBC is from a Celebrity promo and I have more coming from my TA.

  2. I'm thinking of buying the Signature Beverage Package beforehand and using OBC to upgrade to the Elite package onboard, but I've read on these boards that people have had issues when trying to upgrade. I wasn't sure if that was just for people who have the package through a promotion or if they just don't like to do upgrades in general. Will I have a problem trying to do this?

  3. About two years ago I was on a Bermuda cruise. On the last day in port, I did my usual "look for pier runners" routine even though I didn't think it would be all that exciting. We had been in port for 2 1/2 days and anyone with a bit of sense would have stayed somewhat close to the port on that last day. So I am hanging out on the promenade deck looking for stragglers and I don't see any movement. But I can tell from watching the security staff below me that there are some missing people. Around this time, I see the ferry from Hamilton approaching, and I think, "It would be kind of hilarious if people from the ship are on that ferry" but I didn't think it was possible that anyone would be foolish enough to take that late of a ferry from Hamilton on the day we leave port. So I continued to scan the port area for pier runners. A few minutes later, I noticed that instead of heading to the ferry dock, the ferry is heading straight toward the cruise pier! It pulled up directly across from us, lowered its gangway, and off walked two of the most sheepish looking people I have ever seen, of course greeted by plenty of cheering.

Last December in St. Thomas we were riding one of the open-air buses back to the ship from town. We got to talking to some of the others on the bus; one couple mentioned the ship they were on (it was NCL). We could see that ship pulling out of port as we drove along the sea.

The couple had no idea when they were supposed to be back on board and were clearly flabbergasted and of course panicky. I have wondered what ever happened to them as the ship was almost out of the channel at that point.

I just can't imagine not knowing and double-checking when our ship sails. We aim to be back one hour before sail-away with 30 minutes prior our limit. We almost never do ship excursions, but in Central America the ship waited at least 4 hours for one of their excursions to arrive. (We weren't on the excursion).

It always amazes me how clueless some people are about a cruise that they've spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on. Not pier runner related, but this reminds me of something that happened before my last cruise. I was having drinks at a hotel bar and started chatting with a couple next to me. They mentioned that they were going on a cruise the next day, and I asked them what ship they were on. And....crickets. They looked at each other, then looked back at me with blank stares and one of them asked, "Do we need to know that?" I was absolutely FLABBERGASTED that they didn't know this (not even the line they were sailing!) I wonder if once they got back to their room they checked their paperwork, if they even had any paperwork. I just hope they figured it out before arriving to the Port of Miami on a Saturday and having to tell a taxi driver where they should be going.

  4. On Sunday my BF and I disembarked from the Silhouette at Port Everglades. We were heading to the Embassy Suites on 17th St. We got into a taxi and as we were pulling away, the driver informed us that there was a $20 minimum charge for SUV taxis. We didn't request or have a particular need for an SUV taxi, we were just directed to the next one. My BF told him the signs near the taxi stand indicate that there are no flat rates, but he insisted that it was a new rule and it hadn't been posted anywhere yet. I informed the taxi driver that we would be paying the fare on the meter, and we continued on to the hotel.

Has anyone heard of this, or did our driver just think we were an easy mark?

  5. Where can I request Celebrity to send me the color coded tags?

On the check-in page I don't see any boxes to check to sending the official printed version of the tags. I just see a message that they will be available for me to print them myself approximately 2 months prior to the cruise.

Isn't there an option for them to ship me the real tags?

The luggage tag link appeared for me at 49 days before my cruise, at the same time as the eDocs were ready. So I think you have another month or so to wait.

  6. I stayed there in March 2014, although it was after a cruise. I thought it was fine for one night, and it was very clean, but I didn't really care for it. It reminded me of my dorm rooms in college (probably because the floor lamp in their rooms is the same one I had in college.) If you're looking for a typical hotel, you would be disappointed. It is VERY no-frills. If you don't mind that, it's not a bad place.

  7. In the morning I usually stick to the classics like Bloody Marys and Mimosas. I always mean to order a Bellini but I'm never sure if they will have peach puree. The other day I was reading that the Tequila Sunrise was created to be a brunch drink/hangover cure, so I may have to add that to my morning repertoire.

  8. Greetings Cruisers!

I am looking for information about Lindquist Bay Beach/Smith Bay in St Thomas. I understand it is a beautiful secluded beach. I want to know:

    1. Do they have vendors to rent chairs and umbrellas? If so what is the cost?
    2. How far is the beach from the cruise port (Havensight Pier)?
    3. The cab fare cost?
    4. Do they have food and drinks for purchase?

    Thanks for the info!

    Gladys

If you haven't already, you should check to see if an excursion to this beach is available for your cruise. It is called Secret Sands (at least it is for Celebrity's excursion but they seem to usually be the same as Royal Caribbean's.) I haven't done it but I've read great reviews and I'm considering it for my upcoming cruise. Apparently there is a vendor who provides chairs, snacks, and drinks for the people on the excursion and it is all included in the price (the vendor expects tips.)

  9. I called Celebrity back. They played dumb had no Idea what I was talking about. I said would you like me to send you the screen capture?? oh hold on a minute.. Yes we can take care of that for you. It cost me 260 more but I now have all 4 Still worth it. The 300 obc plus now the premium drink package and also unlimited internet which I really don't care about. Now that I have 300 OBC I'm going to try out the Lawn Club Grill..:):D:)

Good choice! Make sure you get the chocolate chip cookie for dessert. :D

  10. That is kind of what I had in my head. I was hoping since we weren't beyond final payment yet. I could get the deal. What was weird though she said she didn't see the offer I was seeing. Oh plus I was willing to pay the new price for all 4 perks. It was only 100 per person more. To me that seemed worth it .. I know I know everyone thinks different on numbers..

Funny, I had the same thing happen to me yesterday, although I called my TA instead of Celebrity directly. He said he didn't see the promotion with all 4 perks on his system, but he called Celebrity and they were able to make the changes to my reservation. So, I agree with everyone else who is saying to call Celebrity back. It's almost like they're trying to keep this promo on the DL.

  11. Pretty sure beside the rum they put a little Kahlua to add a litttle ooomph. DW the mudslide maveness just chipped in on that. Usually 2 at the Solarium pool and 2 at sailaway every day makes her a happy camper. Pool waiter always kidding her that they were low caloric (ha!)

I also love a good mudslide. But there's no rum in a mudslide. It's vodka, Kahlua, and Bailey's.

Would love to read about what the Aspen Coffee is.:):):) I like the Nutty Irishman coffee on Princess. I'm sailing Celebrity in 2017 so I'm enjoying reading about anything and everything Celebrity.

Here's a link to the Cafe al Bacio menu: http://www.thepreismans.com/iceland_Ire_menus.htm#bacio. Scroll down a bit and you will see the Aspen Coffee (and other coffee cocktails.)

  12. My pre-cruise nightmare is that all of my credit card accounts will be closed the day before we leave. This would be TOTALLY irrational, but the day before my first cruise, I got a notice that one of my cards had been compromised and they were closing the account and mailing a new card. I called them in a panic saying I was leaving for vacation the next day and what was I supposed to do! I had another card but I didn't want to have just one card in case something happened. The guy on the phone finally agreed to keep it open for in-person purchases only which calmed me down. When I got home from that cruise, I had gotten all new cards. Thankfully the other companies didn't close the accounts before I got the new cards or I might have lost it!

And then, before my second cruise, it happened again! That time was only one card, and it was a few days before I went away so I was able to get them to rush the new card to me. After that happened I was convinced this was just going to happen every time I cruise. It hasn't happened since, but before every trip I still worry it will happen again.

  13. Logged onto Celebrity Website for first time. Info such as cruise, cabin, dining time are there. You can add items like beverage package, specialty dining and shore excursions. Why does the free classic beverage package not show up? I will want to upgrade to the premium at some point. Do I need to wait until I get on the ship? I would prefer to do it prior. Why stand in a line. Thanks.

You can't upgrade the beverage package in My Celebrity. You will have to give Celebrity a call or have your travel agent take care of it.
