  1. Hope everyone has made it onboard or will soon!

I'm onboard safe and sound! Unfortunately the glbt meeting is at the piano bar and it's so crowded. :(

Maybe it will be more sensible tomorrow night. But if you see me don't be afraid to say "Hi AJ!"

  2. Looking forward to making new friends in the new year.

Welcome all! Glad I checked this before departing tomorrow (at 3:30 AM!). My partner and I look forward to possible meeting you all. If they do an FOD we will definitely be there the first evening. It's always awkward at those things, but I'll try to be outgoing haha. Usually they do a martini tasting at the same bar, so will be doing that or drinking something else I am sure.

  3. VERY lucky! Had a spa balcony on Breeze in March and loved it - I think the spa on Breeze was a little more elaborate than on Splendor but can't tell for sure, and both have the same facilities anyway.

Btw, is everything in the Splendor spa coed (other than the locker rooms of course lol) - I see there's a sauna in the locker room, anyone know if there's steam too?

I'm guessing there will be plenty of family on this trip.

I've been on this ship and it has both a sauna and steam room. Not co-ed for these if that's what you mean! I'm not sure about the spa overall, didn't use that.

  4. Only a couple days to go! Plan is to try to do FOD on the first night, but of course that depends on the time. So, martini bar in the evening will be second choice. We have the 6 PM dining, so would be at the martini bar after say 7 PM or so. And finally, if we failed to connect I will try to look on here on my phone and post some kind of time and place for that night or the next.

  5. My husband and I are looking at booking this cruise. I just need to convince him. :) We are in our mid-30s and live in Baltimore.

Haha doesn't take much convincing for me. Warm weather, beaches, snorkeling, drinks... Sold! Have been to st Thomas and st maarten before, both great stops. Looking forward to seeing what Barbados, st. Lucia and st. Kitts have to offer.

  6. Hi there - will be joining you on this sailing. Just booked this today. Look forward to meeting you. I'm leaving my partner at home and traveling with my side of the family to spend some quality time with my nieces. I definitely need to look into the drink package...... :)

Drinks are always fun! I'm AJ and my partner is Adam, he is 29 and I'm 31. Always happy to meet "like minded" ppl on board. Planning to try to get to the FOD meeting on night one (assuming they have one!) So maybe that would be a good spot to say hey. This cruise should be a blast have wanted to do it for years, the itinerary looks awesome!

  7. Ah yes, the FOD meetings... or lack there of. My partner and I are experienced cruisers, going on number 13 shortly. We typically try to attend the first meeting. Only on a few cruises did we actually meet other family at these meetings.

The first was with Princess they had a crew member there with champagne to help break the ice. This was way back in 2006, I don't know if they do that anymore. The second time was maybe 4 years ago, on a cruise out of New Orleans. There ended being about 8 of us and we had a blast, commandeered the hot tub from the straights for a couple nights, went to dinner as a group for a couple nights, just a very good time all around. There was another time where we met a couple like ourselves as well, and that was fun too.

So, yes, these can have value but has been pretty rare for us . On many of the other cruises we have found that we did see people there but didn't realize it. Basically you see a couple and your like "maybe they are here for FOD? Hmmmm, not sure" and you leave it alone to not embarrass a couple of straight guys or girls who just happened to wander in. Come to find out you see them around the boat and realize that they were there for the meeting but they were just as unsure about you as you were about them, so nothing came of it.
