  1. Finally got it to recognize my booking for Mardi Gras on 2/5. Can’t get it to recognize/ acknowledge my vaccine card. Tried QR code and pdf. Been trying for an hour now.  So frustrating for something that is supposed to make check in easier. Have they thought of beta testing, or is this what we’re doing now?

  2. I booked two weeks ago for a party of 8 on the Magic in December. I was on my laptop and it wanted me to pay the money up front through the website. I went to the mobile website on my phone and it just wanted my information (the old way). I did this and got a confirmation email later in the day without having to pay up front.  I have noticed that the mobile site has changed in the past week so not sure if this would still be a viable work around.

  3. My family was sailing on the Magic for the December 2nd sailing.  We had FTTF and went straight to our rooms where our cards were already in the boxes awaiting our arrival.  We had no issues with our cards.  However, upon opening the envelopes we discovered that there was an additional card belonging to a gentleman that we did not know.  We went to the first carnival employee we could find (an assistant cleaning rooms) and were told to take the wrong card to guest services at our convenience.  We did so, but sucked that we had to stand in line to return a card that we had nothing to do with back to guest services on embarkation day.   I'm sure that the gentleman whose card we had also had to jump through a few hoops to get his card.  The point of this post is it's not a perfect process.  We did our part by approaching a Carnival employee about the mistake.  They did not take the card.  Instead they directed us to guest services.  Not a huge deal but when you pay decent money for a vacation, its not exactly fun to take time out of it for someone you don't know.  Also, it was a bit unnerving that the employee told us to hang on to a card that didn't belong to us.

once again, thank you for the responses, and again, I was a little bored at work and was wondering how many people on Cruise critic wore jeans to MDR especially on Elegant night  and wanted to start a friendly banter about your thoughts, I have seen guests with baseball hats and basketball shorts in the MDR on elegant night, which LOL, I would not do but I don’t care if they do, like one of the above responses so rightly stated, what others wear does not affect my dining experience. the responses are appreciated and have become a little entertaining and I look forward to more!

lol.  Texas.  State of elegant jeans

  5. OMG, YES!!

We had this problem on Liberty back in 2012. Our 9276 balcony was directly under the red vent.

The constant drone of the vent, even in the cabin with the balcony door closed, almost drove me crazy!

122574848410I was not a happy camper at all, but I had no one to blame but me for not researching enough..

Haha. Yep. We stayed in the same room in 2013. It was our first lido balcony. Loved the location, but the noise was awful. My family was in the room next door and it wasn’t nearly as bad even though it was next to us. We learned our lesson too :)

  6. A quick word of warning for those who book lido balcony rooms on conquest class ships. If you look at a photo of the exterior of the ship, you’ll notice an area above the lido balconies that’s painted blue and red. The red section of paint hides an air inlet, or exhaust port (I’m not sure which for certain) and it’s extremely noisy. It completely covers up the sound of the ship moving thru the water. We still enjoyed the cruise, but I missed not hearing the water.

  7. I think that the hoards of people that "THINK' they should be able to "board" whenever they get to the terminal have 'created" the need for these emails. I've gotten off these ships as the last man standing (10:00 or later) and have been amazed at the early arrivals who end up standing in lines and making such a congestion of the outside area that it is virtually impossible for debarking passengers to move their luggage or find their transportation away from the terminal...and the parking lots become a joke as "new" boarders make it a hazard for others to get to their cars to try and leave the area.

As long as people insist that they need to be there early the embark process will be slower and slower, more cumbersome for everyone and eventually these emails will begin to hold some water.

The thing to remember is that Carnival holds the cards and they can choose to implement later boarding irregardless of the humanity that says to just ignore anything Carnival sends out. Stand around and wait is not my style...I'd rather plan my morning so that I arrive at the published (per the website) time and eliminate the hassles and the hoards of impatient travelers with their entitled attitudes, frayed nerves, and "I know best" mind sets.

People can choose to do what they want but it is becoming tiresome to hear all the negatives when someone's traditional plans don't work out for them and they continue to complain about the mess of embark or debark. They are the "CAUSE" of the mess though they will never allow themselves to take responsibility.

So people are waiting to be the last person off the ship because they THINK they should be able to "disembark" whenever they like. Thus delaying others getting on the ship, causing the longer embarkation lines, and creating the need for these emails.

One would also have to assume that those not getting off the ship in a timely manner would directly contribute the joke that the parking lots have become.

  8. Not that I disagree with you but i'm curious why you say that... i am contemplating FTTF for a Pride cruise in July and I could almost see the value for tendering...

We have gotten FTTF for our last two cruises and have it for our next one also. We always get to port early so the boarding early perk never comes into play. However, we love being able to go straight to our rooms and drop off our carry on luggage.

Being able to skip the line at guest services has been the nicest perk for us. It's not one that you really think about, until you have a problem and the line is 20 people deep.

We haven't used it for tendering yet, but plan to on our Half Moon Cay stop this coming trip.

For us it's well worth the money, even after the recent increase in price. We will continue to purchase as long as it's offered.

  9. That's the catch. The times seem to be assigned randomly. We sure didn't pick the times. They don't appear to be related to your status or whether you bought FTTF. It doesn't have anything to do with any flight information you put in because we're arriving a day early.

Our ship appears to be at capacity which is why we're worried about it being enforced.

The email is sent out randomly. We've received it before every Carnival cruise. However, each time we have arrived at port around 10:00 am and been on the ship by 11:30am. It's your vacation and you paid for it. Get on the ship and start enjoying it as soon as possible. They won't turn you away. I promise.

  10. Ok so I actually have two questions.

    1. So I know we really cant carry on a bunch of stuff but can you carry on a personal beach umbrella or something to attach to your chair?

    2. When did they update Freeport? I just saw/read some reviews and it looks really different than it did 5 (?) years ago. It reminds me a lot now of St. Thomas (where Carnival docks) from the pics I saw.

--- though, I'm thinking I could be confusing ports too

But I was thinking Freeport used to have a few shops then a long walk/ pier to the actual town.

I'm guessing the wind would make it near impossible to be able to use any sort of umbrella.
