  1. We were in 1590 on Liberty of the Seas (LoS, LS) a year ago this past Febuary and I don't remember any noise to speak of. We frequently stay just under the pool deck and the only ship i ever heard anything on was on Jewel of the Seas (JoS, JS) and on that ship (relocated due to adventure hitting dry dock) we were just under the Windjamer outdoor seating at the hump and i heard them every morning dragging tables and chairs. Only time we had a problem.

  2. We love Promenade cabins. Enjoy watching all the activity going on. Have been on deck 6 and 7. Always thought 8 would be too high to see everything. Will be on Adventure in 2 weeks in same deck 6 cabin we had 2 years ago. Noise has never been a problem.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Agree with the statement that 8 is too high for a really good view, we have stayed on deck 8 and probably would have enjoyed it a little more from the deck below, although you are hanging out enough to see down. Noise never really bothered us, but that like food I think that is subjective

  3. Only my 2nd carnival cruise, have many on RCCL (Diamond Status). First impression of Triumph out of NOLA is very good. Nice ship, decent layout, lots of deck space. Excellent on deck big screen with no blocked views (blocked views of screen are a problem navigator and freedom class Royal ships) the bathroom and shower area are larger than comparable cabins I have been in on royal.

Anyway I'm on a cruise so I know I will enjoy myself

  4. little different opinion here. I have not read the book mentioned, but checked it out on Amazon, $20 is not a great amount, at least to me, so if i was starting cruising again in the near future i would give it a try.

Although I agree that this forum is an excellent source, the problem that I have is in order to really get educated using it you need to read frequently for at least 6 months and that should also be most if not all posts. You will definitely learn but it will take time (I find that with most of the forums that i read) The advantage to a book is a lot of information in a concise location, generally well laid out. On the forum you can wade through a lot of fluff comments (probably like this one). The book can be a quick primer to start getting you up to speed quickly.

Don't forget to check in with this forum regularly for a more advanced level of understanding. BTW it okay if you disagree with me, just enjoy cruising

  5. A visa is required to visit Havana Cuba by cruise ship. You can provide your own or RIC will sell you one for $75 charged to your onboard account. The blank visa form will be given to you at check-in. The first time though immigration in Havana they will keep both sides and stamp your passport , I believe they keep both sides of the form to ensure that you leave by cruise ship again and not stay longer and leave by the airport. That part is JMHO

  6. Obviously that only works if the the previous inhabitants of that cabin moved early of the ship....

    You were just lucky!

The cabin attendants will start kicking remaining folks out of their room before 0900, so generally you have about an hour from then before your B2B meeting, if you just want to drop some stuff in the room it can generally be accommodated easily

  7. ... For the record it was on Oasis, it was asked we were told that theirs were bigger and to let them know after and the the limit was 2 (I did not ask for more than that.. )...

Sail Royal a lot and if I had a waiter say that to me i would tell him to send over the dining room manager.

  8. At the time' date=' it was Royal Caribbean, but they have raised some of their drink prices to the point where you can't get them with the drink package. So now I would say they each have good things and bad things. Royal Caribbean has no limit on the amount of drinks per day, just one person in a cabin can get it if the other doesn't drink, and you can use it on the first day out of Galveston. Carnival has more restrictions, but on Carnival you can get drinks up to $50, where Royal you get drinks up to $12. Since Royal Caribbean raised their prices so high, there are actually a lot of specialty drinks priced at $13-$15. If you don't drink that kind of thing it won't matter, but one of the best things about the drink package for me is trying the higher priced specialty cocktails I wouldn't normally want to pay for.[/quote']

When Royal raised the price of their drinks recently they also raised the limit on what you can have for the package. I believe it is now $14 per drink. That said this per drink limit really only affect wine by the glass for the more expensive wines and a handful of specialty liqueurs like Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

the normal pre sail price is $55 + 18% gratuity

    the on board price is $65 + 18% gratuity i believe -- i only buy pre-sail

the also run special fairly often -- always was able to snag one last 2 years as low a $44 to $48 per day plus gratuity.

hope that helps someone trying to compare

  9. Only balcony rooms available on Empress are classified junior suite. Not any bigger than regular balcony on other ships, but still at the premium prices. also based on May sailing you feel much more motion on this ship than on the larger ones. least motion is always midship at or below waterline. if motion bothers you I would stay on deck 3 personally

I would 10000 times love to share the fitness center with this driven young athlete! I really don't think he's going to be given any trouble as long as you are there - he sounds like he knows what's up and it's not as if he'll be playing on the equipment.

As one along with DW who visit the gym while on board almost every day (I like to try to skip occasionally when on vacation, but not my wife) I completely agree with this post. its more about respect in the gym than age. Actually doing a workout is respectful and chances are no one will say anything

Good luck to him at regional</p><br>

  12. I'm on Oasis in December with a package with Virgin Flights. Virgin's website doesn't recognise the reservation number given on the website and telephone.

I phoned Royal and they've told me that I can't prebook my seats till 35 days before.

I was a bit peeved as I wanted to prebook seats upstairs as we're flying Jumbo. lk

A lot of times travel companies rci choice air included do not actualy pay for the ticket like you and I have to do at time of booking. when that is the case you cant pick seats or even upgrade untill after payment is actualy made. sometime this is as late as 30-60 days out

  13. adigmquote=Texas Jake;53361142]RCCL offers the unlimited drink package from day 1. The selection is limited because of the tax stamp requirement until the ship is 12 miles out. If RCCL can offer the package day 1, Carnival could as well. The TABC would have stopped RCCL if it was illegal. It is strictly a tax compliance issue. Pay the tax and all is well with the TABC. The limits on serving by RCCL and Carnival comply with Texas law such as not serving a single person 2 open drinks at a time. Neither RCCL or Carnival offer a truly unlimited alcohol package.

Have sailed on both cruise lines and Carnival should follow the RCCL paradigm this instance

  14. Charge more for "express Entry" "pre Check and do a through back ground check. then re-evaluate every 2 or 3 years or so, it that good enough for a Top Secret Government Clearance then quit messing with me as a private citizen, you have already checked me out. The Government already knows who these people are flag them for extra security screenings

  15. I have an over night in Havana booked for Sep and if that means getting of the ship on the cheapest tour offered, I will present myself for boarding before the sail away time the next day, I have a US passport and a set sail pass. I will be allowed to board and customs can deal with me when I return, but i will not be denied entry back into the USA. Either place I have problems will have a law suit they would rather not deal with. Bottom line.

  16. Received my $400 reimbursement for my airline change fees. Very straightforward. Took about three weeks. Disappointment in losing our Valentines Day cruise, yes. Satisfied with the way RCCL handled the change, mostly. Onward to Jewel in January!

Original 13 Jan sailing AD (perfect location JS) recommendation w/price protection 21 Jan Jewel

Mine is not so good, sent original email with receipt for Airline change fee on 27 Apr no response, another email on 5/11 no response, follow up call on 5/24 customer service had no ideas what to do, finally determined wasn't the folks to deal with it that rcvd the email (nice of them to let me know). New email to another address on 5/24, again no response. Called on 5/13 talked with 3 different people 45 minutes total time, seems 2nd email was correct, but still buried in a mail box, located and put on a list to prioritize refund.

Probably biggest concern/complaints with this process was the original wrong email address and then lack of available JS to chose from on price protected sailing. Anyway the current price of those protected sailing JS were almost double what i had originally booked for so overall with $400 OBC i can live with this little aggravation. I always try to be polite and patient, so waiting another couple of weeks before calling back again.
