  1. Hi I am a cruiser and wasn't sure where else to post this but as RCI seems most family friendly here is a good place to start.

I have started a new website aimed at dads. It is a working progress but want to write an article about cruising with children.

I wondered if you could share some tips with me for me to include. All would be grateful. Thanks.

  2. This may be a silly question but we have only cruised once before on celebrity. On the RCI website theres a small statement that hair straighteners are not allowed on board but when you open the full list of prohibited items they are not mentioned.

I understand clothes irons are not allowed but we had no issues with hair straighteners on celebrity.

    Can someone please clarify?

    Thanks

  3. Wow -- sounds like quite an adventure travelling with you ! Your partner must come home from vacations even more tired !

We have a routine now and I haven't escaped for a while although last year was our first cruise and he was very nervous as we had a balcony cabin.

Suppose it means I think the worst when you hear stories like this.

  4. That is a bummer. We lost a lot of stuff when the tree fell on our house during Sandy and we had to throw it out because of water damage. I am actually buying logo merchandise again to replace the large amount we lost, such as tee shirts, hats etc.

I can understand the increase in size of any tobacco store when sailing with Brits. When we did TA's from London to the US, on the first day the Promenade had displays selling cigarettes and they were flying off the shelves and stacks.I know Europe has far fewer smoking restrictions then we do.

This is in line with my comment that the store operator does not reset the merchandise when coming to Florida for the winter season.

The tax in the UK is also far higher than europe and the states so usually it is much cheaper for brits to buy when abroad.

I am not a smoker myself and am british so really notice the difference when visiting europe and smoking is allowed in more places.

  5. I am really loving your review Ashley. We are heading out on our first ever cruise in 3 weeks and was a bit worried about the age demographic but I feel more confident now (I'm 27 and my fiancé 30).

We recently visited Paris for my birthday in August and found ourselves in the middle of a heat wave. I enjoy the heat but we struggled which meant we also had those disappointing days where we didn't do or see what we planned.

We stayed down near the Musee DOrsay and found ourselves walking about 10 miles a day. We did the same in Rome.
