  1. A Christmas cruise is special,  lots of decorations.

    Definitely has a festive feel.

Regarding doing tours independently or with tui is your choice.

If you book with tui and are running late the ship will wait for you.

But if independent you are on your own.

We have been to the Caribbean a few times,

And it's so easy to find taxis at each port,  so travelling independently

    Can be done.

    Do your research.

    And enjoy.

  2. If I am doing a back-to-back cruise does that count as one cruise, and, therefore, only allowed to bring the two bottles,of spirit. Or, can I get off the ship on turnaround and get two more bottles.

For our experience having done two B2B cruises.

We couldn't top up our alcohol allowance

  3. Do people really decorate their doors? This is only my second cruise and my first was years ago, and I can't honestly remember seeing decorated doors. I agree that it would make finding your room easier but Hubby thinks it's stupid. lol!

We did while on a Christmas cruise just a little tinsel.

    And recently on the oriana(p&o)

We had a poppy(remembrance Sunday 11sth November') we placed where the daily information goes.

It really helps in finding your cabin if lost. "

  4. Convince me to try Princess when we are avid Norwegian cruisers ;-)

We have sailed on several cruise lines. carnival,ncl,p&0 rccl and finally princess.

i will add having only sailed on each cruise line once they all have good

    and bad.

I dont have any loyality and like to try differant things.

having talked to loyal returning customers on these cruise lines

sometimes any small complaints do not go down very well.

Iwill add i use cruising as a floating hotel because basicly thats what they are.

  5. We recently used some left over travellers cheques in the states.

they are legal tender but difficult to use sometimes as the cashiers

    have never seen them before.

We now preload a cardit card.

    and found it works fine.:)

  6. I think it was the Wine Bottle packages that were only offered on 10 day or longer cruises, not the All Inclusive Drinks packages.....wasn't it?

    Terry

We are looking to purchase the wine package on a similar B2B.on the ruby.

this will be consumed during our evening meal.

The princess website is hard work for info.

The all inclusive drinks package is very expensive.

Maybe the 2for 1 deals might work for us.:)

  7. Hi everyone,

We are on The Grand Princess departing LA on the 4 Dec. THis is the first time we have caught the ship in LA, as most of our previous departures have been from Fort Lauderdale.

We are having an overnight stop (after flying in from Scotland) in the Embassy suites at LAX.

Could anyone please advise on Taxi travel and fares from the hotel to the pier? I have heard $70 -$75 quoted. A princess transfer fro the 3 of us is around $90.

    Many thanks in advance

    Tony

hi tony we have just returned from LA.

your in the hands of the locals and taxi prices are regulated so you will be fine, usually most hotels run shuttles enjoy your cruise and watchout for the jet lag.:)
