  1. It is much safer for the patient and the flight crew to do a hoist. Trying to land a helicopter on flat ground, with cables and wires that are basically invisible to the pilot until they are too close to them, can be challenging but on a moving ship with tight confines is incredibly hazardous. That's not to say that the pilot can't do it, it's just safer for everyone involved not to.

  2. I heard on the radio yesterday that they (Jetblue) have thrown in the towel on extra legroom and free checked bags.:( I used to love flying out of LGB on them, but their prices went up to the point that we went back to flying AA most of the time because that's where our status is and every little perk helps make the experience less painful.

I saw that also. It's a shame in my opinion. I'm a bigger sized guy with mobility issues so I always get the extra room seats anyway. I hope that they don't mess with them. And it was so convenient with the checked bag rule to just fly up to JFK to go overseas. I guess it's true that nothing is for certain other than death and taxes.

  3. Let me ask this question: I'll be flying Delta from CLT to MIA. It has a stop in ATL. It looks as though I'll have to pay for the first piece of luggage to ATL but it's no cost from ATL to MIA. Am I understanding this correctly?

  4. If I recall their biggest problem was that they contracted with a charter company to cover flights that they didn't have equipment for. That charter company was supposedly horrible both equipment and staff. I don't know if that is still going on but I'm probably not going to book with them.

  5. I'm sorry if this seems to be rude, but if you need to cancel travel plans over a couple hundreds of dollars, you might want to rethink the whole budget planning...

As with many things in life it comes down to priorities. I might be willing to spend 800.00 to upgrade a cabin on a cruise but I'm not fond of paying 200.00 more for a flight. Personally I will almost always fly economy plus or the equivalent because it's worth it to me. I like my knees but I don't want them in my face for an 8 hour flight. Is it worth paying for business class, not usually.

  6. Last year we flew Delta to Dublin (767-300). It's been a long time since I've flown straight economy (Jetblue spoiled me). We flew economy plus which added about 150 USD each way. I was also fortunate enough to get bulkhead seats so as far as leg room we were in heaven. The down side was that the tray table was in the armrest and being a bigger guy it was a little snug but doable (sort of like being in one of those desks with the top connected to the chair). Skytrax http://www.airlinequality.com/ does have seat reviews but as has been said already it's very much subjective. Good luck!

  7. Another thought for you. When we were on Copenhagen I was still using a wheelchair and my husband pushed me all over town. Do you have someone going with you who could do that for you? I now use a three wheel walker or a cane but he now has to slow down so I can keep up!

My DW will be going with me but I'd hate to have her push me. I think that I'd do a scooter first.

  8. Hi,

We'll be doing a TA to Copenhagen Amsterdam Dover and the Azores. I have Parkinson's (or some variant of it depending on who you ask) and fatigue easily. I normally use a cane but am considering a rollator for this trip. My question is are there any concerns I need to be aware of in visiting these ports? I figure the rollator will allow me to rest as needed.

    Thanks

  9. Hi,

We'll be traveling to the East Coast from CPH in May. Icelandair seems to have the best rates but the reviews that I've been reading have me questioning if the savings is worth it. They seem to be chronically late with variable in flight service and non-existent customer service. Is this perception accurate?

    Thanks
