  1. We did this cruise about 5 years back and had no problems. Flew from South Florida to Minneapolis then on to Quebec, landing around 4pm. Directed by Princess Ground agents to gather up our luggage, put on the cruise tags and proceed to a line of transfer buses and and had to wait until the bus was mostly full (30 minutes or so) and off we went. Got to the terminal and and the porters collected the luggage. Checked in like usual and went up to the cabin, dumped carry-on and went to dinner. Came back and luggage had arrived. Went off afterwards to walk around (no much there and rainy) picked up some cold drinks for the coming days. You had to carry your ship's card to exit and return. Assuming the Medallion works now. Saw some peeps coming back around midnight.

If they are filling tables with <1000 pax, then what's the issue if they fill tables with 2000, 3000?  Must be lots of empty unused tables right now.

What I meant to say was that they were allowing all seats to be occupied. But none of the tables were more than half full. The Craps table was the fullest.

  3. Understand that Greenland is nowhere near a "guaranteed" port. We took a cruise across the Northern Atlantic on the Star Princess and made it to Greenland, the Captain was so excited that after 11 attempts to get there he was finally successful. But at the time we went there, no excursions were available. Just tender to the town, walk around, see the homes, people and some  buildings. The most interesting thing was a small iceberg (growler?) had beached itself in the port area. Glad we made it in.

Now Iceland was a different story, many great excursions.

My view on the two as we saw them ..... Iceland has no ice, Greenland has no green

  4. As it was said before, if you booked thru a TA, call the TA. If you booked thru Princess, call them directly. We cancelled a November cruise (before final payment) about 12 days ago, got 100%  of our booking deposit back and credited to our CC in 8 days.

Sadly from the Princess agent we spoke to, about 99% of all calls to them are cancellations

  5. Downloaded the Medallion Class app on my android phone, entered my email address and same password that I use for the Princess web page ... bingo, brought up our November cruise. After this snafu with the Princess home page, haven't been able to log in. Same email address and password on both. Claims I am locked out, using Firefox browser. Mighty poor Corporate image.

Actually, fees from cruise ships represent significant contributions to a city. GVHA earns 70% of its revenues from cruise ships. Millions go to improvement projects around the city...

For poor islands without industries, the cruise business is important.

I would not worry about local facilities. Tourist-oriented restaurants and retail will convert to visitors-only clientele, with a focus on safety protocol. After all, not many locals are interested in Frog or tie-dyed shirts.

You want to spend money. They want your money. Somehow, the two will meet under safe conditions.

The last lines point out the problem, if we can't walk off and explore, we can't meet and spend.

  7. Well if Princess goes with Princess only excursions, no walk offs, that will be a disappointment in some Ports (St Thomas, Sint Maarten, San Juan, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao come to mind) as we have been on many of the excursions and have no desire to repeat any. We would usually walk off and explore the towns. Might as well close down Havensight and then other's shopping havens. What would be the benefit to each port besides the small number of excursions? How would it help the local people make a living?

Mind you, I can chill on the ship pretty well, haven't gone ashore in the Princess Cays in years, unless enough time has gone by to sample some new tee shirts. And maybe some local crafts in the Cays and outside the fence.

  8. Looked at the prices for the 11/30 Enchanted 10 day cruise on the website, did a "booking" for a balcony using the BSE package. Price was so-so. So I emailed my Princess Planner and asked her what she had, saved almost $1100 (for two) over the website price and we were eligible for a $100 Casino credit too. So we booked it, good enough. I really wasn't expecting that much of a drop in fare, but I'll take it. Also from the search on the website, stateroom availability wasn't huge. Not sure if they are holding back rooms or not.
