Just wondering for those of you booked for early 2021, is the 120 day out final payment date for a cash refund seriously weighing on your decision to go on that particular cruise? I have a cruise on the Encore booked for early April out of Florida and final payment is due in December. With all that is going on, what will be going on then , and the issues with refunds I am very hesitant to make a final payment in mid December. Any others thinking about this as an upcoming personal issue? I could deal with a 30 or even 60 day final payment but 120 days seems ridiculous to make a commitment of thousands of dollars to an ever changing virus/cruise environment. If cruises start this winter then it may make me feel better but if they want $4K in December and not a single cruise has sailed or sailed safely by then I will probably cancel. Thoughts? Will they change the deadlines?

I think we might be on the same cruise (April 3 - 10) and we were surprised that final payment was due that early.   I don't remember them being that early.  We are a group of family and friends that rebooked from last April and really hoping we can go. but also want to be safe.

We also feel once cruises begin and are successful - not only us but everyone will feel more at ease.  This is a scary thing and does not seem to be getting better.  Yes we love cruising but want to be healthy and have everyone around us healthy.

We are also hoping they change the deadline.  It should be 60 or 90 days not 120+ days.

  2. I also received the email.  When I checked my summary the insurance was added to our rebooked cruise.  I figured it was because we did have the insurance on the original cruise and to get FCC for the insurance amt. portion we would have to purchase the insurance again.

I was upset when I read "Please be advised that your credit can only be used if you have travel insurance added to your reservation".  It sound like you can ONLY use your FCC if you purchase their insurance.  That is certainly different than what they presented.

I can see if you had insurance on the original reservation you would have to rebook insurance to get that portion back in FCC.  But what I am reading here, even if you didn't have insurance they are adding it.  That is not right, and in my opinion illegal.

  3. My FCC didn't show up when I looked online but when we called a NCL Rep to rebook for next year she could see it and our refund of the travel insurance.

If you are ready to book, I would call - Wouldn't hurt to try again

I'm surprised that when you called they told you to be patient and didn't say they could see it.

  4. I am also worried about all of this.  As much as I LOVE to cruise, I want to cruise healthy and safely.  We had to cancel our family trip for this month and rebooked for next April.  We also have a November cruise planned with my Mother & Father in Law and my sister and brother in law.  At this point I don't know if that cruise will happen.  Then I wonder what medical documentation we will need.

These are all questions that will be answered in time and WE don't have control over it.

Stay healthy, well, and safe everyone.

I’m currently booked on the Getaway leaving from New Orleans on Sunday, April 12.  Have no doubts it will get canceled.

Just waiting for the official announcement so we can get the refund (don’t want the FCC).

I am also on the April 12th out of New Orleans with many family members.  We are waiting for the official announcement.

I had tried to see some pictures on this site, but you can't view the pictures unless you are a member and pay a fee.  I did find one video that wasn't blocked though so thank you for pointing it out.

Good Morning Bonnie1222,  there is a "backdoor" way to see the pictures without being a member.  Hope this helps.

    * Click on Cruise Lines

    * in the drop down menu click on Norwegian

    * Click on the ship you want (Norwegian Sun)

*Click on the deck you want to explore (Example: deck 4 Biscayne)

    * Scroll down and you will see a tab "Cabin Pictures"

    * Click on Cabin Pictures and that will bring up all the pictures for that deck and it's sister ship

Also if you want to see what is above and below your cabin before you choose it.

Scroll down to the bottom and you will see on the right hand side you will see "Cabin Check Tool"

click on it - it will bring up a new page with all the decks.  Click on the deck of the cabin you want to search for - once you are there click on the cabin number and it will show you a view of above and below the cabin

    Hope this helps.

More importantly (to me anyway), will the staff stay on board? Will they be fed? Will they be compensated?

Exactly.  The staff are the ones really suffering.  Will they get their pay?  but NO tips.  They count on this $$ to survive.  I feel for them.  They work hard!

  8. Does anyone have any idea where all of the ships will dock during this suspension?  I can't think of any ship yard that would be big enough or have enough dock space for the length of the suspension.

I'm sure they will be doing deep cleaning, repairs, etc.  The ships should be shiny and clean when they are back up and running.

  9. Just my Thoughts.   But, I can see many stressing over this, especially if the cruise is in a week or so.    I don't know about your medical office but ours is very hard to get an appointment quickly.  It states you need to have it filled out within 7 day of travel.

Packing and traveling is stressful enough.  Now you have to worry about a form and if it is filled out correctly.

    Hi Wilson!

Geez!  It looks like I missed a lot!  From what I gather, that Canadian guy was totally out of bounds.  Never liked him anyway...

Glad you are feeling better and keep doing what you do!

    🙂

which post # are you talking about?  Canadian guy?

  11. First I want to Thank you for all your pictures and post.  It has been fun following along on this amazing trip.  Ours is over a year away and I am already excited.  Enjoy your last night on the ship even with having to deal with customs.  I'm sure all of you will have some fun.

I see on Ship Tracker you are close to NYC so hopefully you will get into port early, get through customs quickly, and get back on to enjoy the ship.  Thank you again and safe travels

Imagine my surprise when I log into email this morning and see my "Air Confirmation" for my cruise in December.

Flights are direct, coded United but are in fact Westjet flights - one of the airlines I collect points with so that's a bonus. Times are actually good - we arrive at 4:00 pm so will be able to get settled into our hotel and have a nice pre-cruise evening in the city. Our departure time is a little late at 6:00 pm so since I have a lot of lead time, I may call and see if we can get switched to an earlier flight as there is another one at the same price that leaves mid-afternoon (no doubt my parents will be happy to be relieved of watching my four kids sooner rather than later!) That being said, if no change is able to be made, I am happy.

To OP - to book these exact flights today would cost me $1,041.44 (cdn) so that is my savings. You should look at flights and see how much you will save and whether you can live with giving up control of your flight bookings and the uncertainty. If you don't feel comfortable not being able to chose your flights, then it may be worth the expense of booking your own flights.

Regardless of how you get there - happy cruising!

JillK,  a quick question for you.  when you first booked your cruise did you see your Air Perk anywhere on your confirmation or summary .  I don't see it anywhere - Not even on the Amenities Confirmation.  Should I contact them?  thank you

Hi there! Are you on the roll call? Not that there are many of us on there, but we are way out from sail away.  I’m a bit concerned about the pool situation also but I will for sure be on that race track!

Yes I've joined the roll call.  More will join as we get closer.  And we will be on that race track ourselves.

  14. Does anyone have know if the pools are going to be able to handle the large number of passengers?  I know the Encore is a sister ship to Bliss and Escape and haven't read anything negative.  We were on the Escape in April to Bermuda but it was to cool for the pools so I really can't compare.

We are going to the Panama Canal in November 2020 on the Encore and would like to be able to use the pools without feeling crowded.  (the pools on our Epic 2019 cruise were so small it was disappointing and unusable, unless you wanted to stand shoulder to shoulder with others)

    Thanks in advance. 😀
