  1. Thank you so much for all the advice!!!  He is type 2 and he does have CGM and check the numbers alot trying to figure out what spikes the numbers and what keeps them in check. Always watching the carbs too.  I feel so much better about going!!

Just one other question…..do you have issues going thru security with your supplies?  We won’t be flying for this cruise but probably will be in the summer.

  2. Probably not the right place to ask this question, but didn’t really see a place to ask other than disabled cruisers…..so any help would be appreciated. Husband was diagnosed with diabetes a couple of weeks ago and we have a cruise planned in about a month. Just wondering how others navigate thru the process. I know we need to fill out a special needs form for a sharps container, but how about meals? Do you request a special type of food selection or are you able to make selections from the buffet and main dining room? He has to monitor his carb intake to keep the sugar numbers down. We have thought about canceling the trip but have had it planned for awhile and were really looking forward to it until life threw us this curve ball…..any advise would be appreciated.

  3. We will be cruising this summer and have the 100 minutes of internet included. I’m looking to see how good the internet is and if it is worth the cost to upgrade to the unlimited package. I have ATT phone service so I know I can stay connected in port but am wondering about service traveling between the ports.

  4. We booked the July 23 sailing!  I’m a little apprehensive about the “new normal” but feel like Celebrity will do everything in their power to keep everyone safe and give a great vacation experience. I know they want to sail as much as we do!!

  5. Who is booked on the first two cruises to Alaska?  We are looking to book on one of these, and looking for everyone’s thoughts.  I would prefer to sail later after we see how it all goes, but due to work, we can’t sail after the end of July (I work for a school district). And I don’t want to wait until next summer!  It’s been almost 2 years since our last cruise and I can’t wait to get back on a ship!!

  6. I have been on many cruises with Royal Caribbean,  Celebrity and Carnival but this will be my second on Princess.  We didn’t go to the dining room but once on our previous Princess cruise so I am looking for information on the dress attire in the dining rooms and specialty restaurants so I can pack accordingly. How does the attire compare to the other cruise lines, are jeans/tshirts/capris on non formal nights?  I know over the years the dress

codes are not enforced as much as they used to.   Any feedback on your dining room experiences will be greatly appreciated!!

  7. I’m thinking of booking a cruise on Pride of America and need suggestions on the best type of stateroom. Since the cruise is so expensive I don’t want to book a balcony when an interior would be just as good. So anyone that’s been on pride I would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

  8. I received a Blue Chip Casino offer for a complementary stateroom for sailings in May-June on the Edge. I usually don’t receive casino offers so I was a little surprised to get this. We do play in the casino but are not big gamblers. Has anyone else received this offer?

  9. Thanks for the great advise!! I may just try the classic for a few days and see. We just got one of the move up offers and I would like to upgrade from our ocean view to a veranda! I do plan to have a couple of martinis at the martini bar!

  10. We sail in 3.5 weeks and not had an offer but they’re still selling cabins and at a lot less than we paid. But we’ve got a lovely concierge side hump so if we got an offer to bid I think it would be a long decision

Can you bid on more than one upgrade?

  11. I apologize if this has been addressed before....we received the classic drink package as a “perk”. I am wondering if upgrading to the premium package would be a good idea. I plan on visiting the martini bar and like to have some if the specialty coffees as well as the usual frozen drinks. I also drink a lot of bottled water. I searched for drink menu’s but didn’t find any. Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated!!

  12. I’m currently booked on Seaside and am unable to cruise on the date I’ve selected. I need to cancel the reservation. I have tried calling and been on hold 1+ hours several times over the last couple of days. If I didn’t want my deposit back I would not worry about it, but their customer service and hold times are horrible. Does anyone know if there is another number to call to cancel other than sitting on hold for hours? I could not find a place on the website to cancel either. And I have requested a call back and have been waiting on this for days too. My final payment is due in a couple of days so I need to take care of this as quick as possible. Thanks in advance!

  13. You need a hotel on a Thur, which means you are competing with business travelers and rates are higher. Have you decided how much you want to spend on a hotel and what you might like to do? Getting in around noon and hanging out in a hotel until you leave for the port the next day is a long time to stay in an area with few options to walk around. The Hilton Penn Station Newark is $165 + tax for your dates. This would give you easy public transit options to go into either midtown or downtown New York.

Thanks for the info!! I think we are going to try the Hilton Newark Penn Station. Any suggestions on getting from the hotel to the port?

  14. PATH is the name of a mass transit commuter train that goes from Newark Penn Station to Manhattan. It is run by the port authority of NY and NJ.

It is a few dollars each way. Schedules can be found on their website.

New Jersey Transit also has a train that goes to Manhattan.

FYI, there are trains that stop at a Newark Airport train station that go to Newark Penn Station and continue on to New York Penn Station. Google NJ Transit.

Thank you for the great info!!

  15. Wow, so many options!! We are flying into Newark, our flight arrives a little after noon. We would like to be able to walk to a few places as we are not too familiar with the trains and subways. After all we are from Texas and the only way to get from place to place here is by car! Thanks to everyone for all the great info!!
