  1. I remember a few years ago someone posted some old pics of Carnival from way back in the 80's. They were enjoyable to look at. One of them showed guys on the AFT deck shooting Skeet off the back of the ship. Amazing...as I could never see that happening now a days.

Anyhow I thought I would ask and see if anyone has any old Carnival pics they would like to share on this forum. I think many of us would get a kick out of seeing the dated decor and attire from way back when.

  2. Here is a question in regards to the free bottle of wine on the first night.

I booked a reservation for my family of four for the first night. However I also added to the reservation 3 more for my friend, his girlfriend and his son. Total for the reservation is 7 people. 4 adults, 3 children. They are on a separate cruise booking than us. Can they get a bottle of wine as well? Or are all of us supposed to share ONE bottle of wine?

  3. We've used Lighthouse Parking in the past and have them reserved for our upcoming cruise in October. Benefits to me is they have coupon codes so you can get a discount over the list price. It's covered parking and getting to the terminal with luggage is easy as 1, 2, 3.

    1. Park your car and pull luggage out of vehicle.

    2. Shuttle will meet you at your car and driver loads your luggage into shuttle.

    3. Shuttle drives you to terminal and driver removes your luggage (a tip is appreciated).

Hand off checked baggage to Porter and off you go through the terminal with your carryons.

  4. Agreed. I'm hoping to plan a "Big Smoke" on our roll call if anyone wants to join one evening on our upcoming Valor, 5 Night Cruise October 16th. I guess we'll just meet at the designated spot on Lido, Deck 10.

Really liked the outside smoking at the Red Frog on the Magic. It was the perfect location for our Big Smoke back in 2014.

  5. Well I think mine and my wife's mind is made up. We're gonna do Cheers. We're only taking a 5 day cruise out of Galveston, TX. So we'll only be paying for Cheers for 4 days.

The convincing facts for me are. It's not a matter of drinking 15 drinks per day but knowing after 5 or so for the day..it's a cost savings. In addition to that, it's the piece of mind not wondering/worrying "my gawd what is our S&S balance up to from all of our drinkin'".

  6. We too received the free cruise offer back in 2014. Letter arrived in February 2014. It was addressed to my wife. Although she has been on everyone of the three previous cruises we had taken. I was the primary guest that booked the cruises and she is not a big gambler either. So it wasn't a casino offer.

The letter basically stated she was selected to receive a free cruise with Carnival out of any port for up to 7 nights. The offer was for two guests and was for an interior cabin. The only fee's were port charges and taxes. The offer allowed you to upgrade your cabin and all you had to pay was the difference.

At first we thought the offer was junk mail BS. But after talking to Carnival we in fact found out it was legitimate. It was amazing looking on the Carnival web site under my wife's VIFP number and the amount PP showed $0.00 for any cruise we looked at.

Needless to say we booked a 7 night western Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Magic in June 2014, upgraded to an Oceanview cabin and our total pre cruise expense with was about $300 for the both of us.

  7. I remember seeing a while back someone posted current prices of various drinks w/tip.

I'd like to look this over as we are "considering" Cheers for our next Cruise in October.

I've compared the prices to the only sail & sign bill I can find from our 2011 cruise and it looks almost like a wash based off the price of Cheers. However, I'm sure in 6 years the price on drinks has increased.

Does someone have a list of current drink prices please. IE Beers, Wine, Moquito, Jack & Coke, etc.

I know it says it doesn't include drinks in souvenir cups.

  8. I was able to snag a FTTF on our cruise going in October on the Valor and I'm surprised it says the time 12pm - 1pm. To me...that doesn't seem really early at all. Can we get there any earlier than that. I could have sworn on our last cruise in 2014 when we purchased FTTF we were on the ship at about 11:30.

  9. We're booked for a 5 Day Western Caribbean cruise this October and it is called a "Cozumel Plus" itinerary. However 9am - 6pm. I don't think that...that's so much of a "plus".

I still find myself constantly looking at my phone the whole time thinking this scenario all afternoon "....ok we have to leave by 4pm....so we can catch a cab, cab travel time, ...get back to the port, wander through the port...wait on the gangway"

  10. Ya know the one thing I can complain about after every cruise we have taken (always been with Carnival) is that I feel we are not in port long enough. I LOVE COZUMEL. But I wish we would stay at that port longer.

Why can't they....or why don't they. It's not like another cruise ship needs that pier at 6pm that same evening?

My guess is one of two reasons:

    a. they are billed for the length of time they are in port by the port itself (or the country)?

    b. they don't want to stay in port longer...as that is less money being spent on the ship.

When we took our first cruise on Carnival Celebration in 1998. The 7 Day Itinerary was:

    Tampa

    Fun Day at Sea

    Fun Day at Sea

    Grand Caymen

    Cozumel

    New Orleans

    Fun Day at Sea

    Tampa

When the ship ported in New Orleans that morning around 9am, I remember we didn't have to be back on the ship until 10pm that evening. We were able to enjoy a swamp tour and get in some night life in the French Quarter. To me this was the perfect amount of time in port.

I just wish the ships going into Cozumel would stay later. 10pm would be awesome.

Anyone else feel the same way as I do?

    Your thoughts.

  11. I see people talking about renting. Are they referring to renting a tux in the ship? I remember Carnival used to rent tuxedos on the ship. Do they still do that? If so, what am I looking to spend to rent a tux on the ship?

I had to rent tuxedos for both of my boys for my brother in laws wedding this weekend. The rental fee at Men's Warehouse is $160.
