The Queen Mary (now a hotel in Long Beach) wins the prize for being the ship with the most ghost sightings.  It was used during WW2 to transport soldiers and participated in the DDay invasion.  There is a famous door #13 in the engine room that crushed to death a worker.  His ghost supposedly appears regularly.

I toured that ship and I would totally believe ghosts are sighted there.  The empty indoor pool gave me nightmares.

  2. It has been years since I have used the services of the cruise ship spa for this very reason.  They were very pushy trying to sell the product.  When that didn’t work they commented on how quickly my skin was going to age without their product and how I was going to develop a dowager’s hump if I didn’t get a massage every day on the cruise and regularly after.   It totally killed the relaxing experience I had up to that point.

  3. We were on this sailing, also with tag #3.    There was no doubt people with higher tag numbers were leaving before their numbers were called.   Yes, the terminal was crowded when the rest of us were called to leave, but I felt the line moved along reasonably well (I’ve experienced longer waits and lines in the past).   Part of the problem was there were only 3 customs agents checking passports and at times only 2.     I don’t think the cruise line have any control over that.  People have to pack extra patience when they cruise.

  4. We have 3 cruises out of Tampa affected by this. 2 on Brilliance B2B and one on the Rhapsody. We received separate emails for all three that stated we would be moved to the Serenade, same dates..same port.  If we are ok with that (which we are) we are to do nothing.  They will inform us of our new cabin assignments.  No need to call.   They went on to state what to do if you wish to cancel, but I didn’t pay attention to the details.  We are fortunate our cruises fell on dates that the ship was being replaced by another and not completely canceled.

I got the offer for a complimentary OV. It is driving me absolutely crazy that I cannot book one of these. I have so many booked (so many to me anyway) I just cannot stand that I am probably not going to be able to book one. I really want the Majesty on 6/29... UGH!!!

Mike, we each  got the same.  Can't do it because we booked two more cruises just a few days ago. Well, we could go.....but the gambling budget doesn't allow for it.  I don't think they would appreciate us going & not gambling much....and I"m not sure WE could handle not gambling much! 🙂

  6. We really enjoyed the Bahama Brews excursion last year.  It was offered through Royal Caribbean, but  appears to be gone now.  Anyone know of a good alternative?

  7. We only booked balcony cabins for many years.  I'm not sure why we booked inside for the first time.  It was probably a free casino cruise.  We discovered that it was great!  True, I enjoyed a few minutes in the morning and evening on the balcony,  but during the day I prefer to be out somewhere on the ship.  The fact that the inside cabin is so small means that one of us leaves while the other finishes getting ready (translation....hubby leaves while I finish getting ready).  That results in him roaming around a bit more on his own.  If he wants to nap during the day..I leave the cabin and find a more open space to relax, read...whatever.   We don't just sit around in our cabin.  I remember as a kid taking beach vacations...I truly hated when others wanted to nap or go to a movie.  I was like...that is wasting precious time at the beach!   I don't want to spend precious time on a beautiful ship inside my cabin.   This doesn't mean we will never book a balcony or suite again, just saying that an inside cabin does not make an impact on our cruise at all.  For the record, we do not care for the promenade cabins.  The curtains need to be closed while you are in the room much of the time for obvious reasons.  Also, the layout of the cabin we were in was very cramped and hard to get around in.

  8. I wonder why things have changed so much for table game players?  We haven't received a certificate on any of our cruises this year.  That would be ok, if we were to continue being Prime level.  But based on what I am reading, we won't qualify for that next year, even with 4 or 5 cruises under our belt.   I don't gamble just for the perks, but it is disappointing to receive them for so long and then suddenly they stop.

  9. We always play table games.  After consistently receiving certificates & free drinks each time we cruised, the certificates stopped this year.   We are Prime, so we are enjoying those benefits for now.  Based on what I am reading here, and the fact we are no longer earning the certs, I'm beginning to doubt we will maintain our Prime status for the next year.   It was nice while it lasted.    We don't gamble for the perks, but to be honest....we cruise more often when we get the great rates, which results in a lot more money for them in all areas, not just the casino.    You would think they would do all they can to keep their loyal gamblers cruising as often as possible.  I'm not threatening to stop cruising or gambling, but it is their loss if we cruise less often because we don't have those enticements.

  10. We enjoy the Gallery bottomless Brunch or the Galley Lunch Tour. Majesty was great as was Freedom, Serenade, Brilliance, Enchantment, Oasis, and Allure.

Warning about Harmony. We did it in April this year and the lunch was the lunch in the MDR, nothing special. If this is what they do, its not worth it IMO. We were very disappointed with how they did it on Harmony. It was like paying for regular lunch. So disappointing as the food has always been special until Harmony.

I totally agree with you about the Harmony brunch. It wasn't organized very well. We were kept waiting sitting at tables just inside the door for over 30 minutes after the time it was supposed to start. No champagne was served until we sat down for lunch and they certainly weren't generous with it the way they were on other ships. The food was average at best. It was not the special event we experienced at the other brunches.

  11. I've never been able to figure out their system in the casino. I think slots are pretty straight forward in how many points you need to earn things, but we always play table games and I have no idea how it works. We cruised & gambled for years before ever receiving any offers at all, but we have been for a while now. My husband and I go in with the same amount of money, almost always play at the same table together, the same amount of time....although sometimes I will play without him when he takes a break. Our offers are never the same and he always get better offers than I do! I don't really worry about it though. We gamble for fun and will do so even if we don't get free cruises or drinks....but it sure is nice to get them! :)

  12. Some people were telling me that if a couple each had a free annual comp cruise they weren’t allowed to book 2 comp cruises. That never made sense to me. I sure hope we can each book one next year if my wife gets prime and I am Prime or Signature

I booked yesterday for February. We are both prime. He asked if I wanted to book 2 cruises or I could combine them & upgrade from inside to oceanview. We went for the upgrade, since we have too much going on to add another cruise in before the end of March, 2019.

  13. I wasn’t that keen myself but I’m sure I read on the ‘Secret MDR menu’ thread (or something similar) that there is a cold soup option available every night. You just have to request it.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

My daughter asked at the beginning of the week about the cold fruit soups. He brought out a menu and showed her the night they would serve one. Just one time! If they were available, he didn't bring her any when she asked. This was on the Harmony.

  14. From what I am reading you will get another offer. They have not yet put out a listing of the free cruise you earned under the new program. Hope it comes soon, need to get all our plans straight.

I was about to ask that same question, it's good to see an answer. I have not received anything via email or otherwise. I do know that I am prime because I cruised last week on the Harmony, and it was on my sea pass card. Good thing I already have more cruises planned, because my luck in the casino was terrible on that cruise...went through my gambling budget very quickly!

  15. If they are cruise certificates you should be able to stack them and use them both on the same new booking (as long as they meet the deadline criteria). You cannot combine certificates with other kinds of casino discounts (anymore) but you can still use multiple certificates from husband+wife.

The were not certificates, but email offers.

  16. I just called to book a cruise using my latest offer for a complimentary room. Turned out my husband had a better offer, but he never received an email telling him about it! Neither one of us received anything onboard at the end of our last 3 cruises, although apparently we had earned something. I used his offer for the cruise, and still have my offer....if we can fit another cruise this year!

  17. I have not done it on the Majesty, but have on the Oasis and Independence & will do it again on the Harmony next week. The galley tour is great and the brunch is tasty. Independence had the best food...steak & lobster and it was amazing! Champagne and mimosa flow freely. The dress code is casual, but they do request closed toed shoes for safety reasons. Some chefs get a bit upset with passengers that wear sandals.
