  1. We did the Grizzly Falls zipline and it was amazing.  We chose this one because it sounded fun ziplining over waterfalls.  You also get to ride a monster truck just to get up the base where the ziplines are.  Our teenagers really enjoyed themselves.

  2. We have teenagers and went on an Alaskan cruise in May.  In Juneau, we went to the dog sled camp.  Our teenagers really enjoyed it.  Our other ports were different from yours and some of our excursions were changed.  We like the active excursions so sitting by and watching for whales isn't something our kids would do.  We did take them zip lining in Skagway which was a blast.  We were supposed to go kayaking in Ketchikan but our itinerary changed and we didn't make it there.

  3. Looks like temps next week in Alaska will be near 80 and other days will be rainy.  I didn't need shorts on our Alaskan cruise but others might.  Our temperatures were very pleasant and we didn't get any rain.

I have visions (OK, a fear) of being stranded somewhere in the vast Pacific ocean.  At this point I can't see myself setting foot on her.

We were on the crown in May and there was a public announcement due to an electrical problem on the ship and they had requested the electrical engineer to come and help stat.  It seemed that the engine had shut down and this happened while we were in Glacier Bay.  We very much had the fear that we could be stuck there.  I don't think I would want to travel on that ship across the ocean.

  5. We just got off the Crown last month and if you can change, I would recommend it.  It would have been nice to get off the ship at least another time other than the 3 stops.  We actually had an electrical emergency while we were sailing in glacier bay.  There were able to fix it but we were all thinking that there would be a chance that we could have been stuck there and nobody close to rescue us.

  6. We lucked out with temps in the 70s and no rain on our Alaska cruise a month ago.  There were people swimming but mostly in the hot tubs.  We had our swimsuits but didn't go swimming.

  7. We had a few nights with reservations since we wanted to be sure to be able to get to the show on time.  We also tried walk in with no reservations.  The wait wasn't long without reservations.  It may be different for a larger party.  It was easier to get reservations for our party of 5.  There were a few times where our kids just wanted the buffet and we went as a couple without them without reservations.  When we had reservations for our 5, we were seated at a table alone.  When we went as a couple, we were seated at a table with 10.

But when people are on a cruise with 4-5 sea days and they get covid on day 5 and beyond, where could they have gotten it if the incubation period is 2-4 days(with omicron)?  Being in the grocery store, a restaurant or places like that are no comparison to being on a ship for days on end.

I do agree that we can't really say where people got it most times, but on a ship there is no other place if there have only been sea days.

I believe that people are getting sick while traveling to the cruise most likely airline travel.  They may have already tested negative for the cruise but then end up catching it on the way.  You may not test positive for a few days after getting covid.  It probably gets passed around while on the cruise.

  9. We just got off our cruise a week ago.  COVID testing is all on the honor system while at sea.  There was nothing really mentioned about COVID during our cruise.  People could have minor symptoms, not test and nobody would know.

But then why do we need to test prior to boarding a cruise?

I think the case numbers could be even worse if they didn't require a negative test to board the ship.  I wonder how many people test positive and aren't able to go on their cruise.
