  1. You are not alone. The exact same thing happened to us for a cruise that we will be on next month. We are platinum and the couple we are traveling with are on their 3rd Carnival cruise. They received emails with a VIFP special rate that we never received. By using the special rate their cruise is $80 cheaper than ours. Keep in mind our cabins are right next door to each other so it's not like they have a different cabin type.

  2. No, they did not.

Does the departure port make a difference? I think the original poster is leaving out of Orlando not Galveston.

  4. You can't go wrong with either ship. We have been on both and had a great time on both. Which is why we will be on Horizon again in September and Dream again in January. clear.png?emoji-grin-1677 I think you should determine which one has the best itinerary for you. At the same time if you want to experience the newest ship, you can't go wrong with Horizon. Which ever ship you pick, I'm sure you will have a great time. Happy Sailing!

  5. You can board early but your room won't be ready so you have to keep any luggage items you carry on with you while you go to Lido to eat etc.

We buy fttf so we board and go straight to our room unpack and head to lunch.

We just got it for our Sept cruise. It used to be 49.99, it was 69.99 this time. We haven't cruised in awhile so must have went up.

You are correct, the price has increased. The price now depends on the length of the cruise and ranges between $49.95 - $99.95.

  6. WOW! That has doubled in price (since it first came out). Years ago we thought it was great at $49 per cabin. I was one of those cruisers stalking the website each day multiple times a day to see if any had opened up. However, I think I would have to re think it at the current cost. Most of the time our children plus two of their friends travel with us so that means three cabins. I can't imagine spending $300 for FTTF. But for those that think it is still worth the cost - enjoy it. At the end of the day it is your vacation and your money spend it the way you like. I did enjoy having the FTTF option when I needed it. I'm just thankful that we are platinum now so it is not an issue.

  7. Thanks. That helps a lot. Looks like one is right across from our cabin. I hope it isn’t too loud.

You're welcome. My husband only has one request when it comes to the cabin - it has to be close to the laundry room. So we have had several cabins right across from the laundry room and we rarely heard any noise. There was one formal night when a line formed in the hallway so of course there were several conversations going on. I think you will be fine.

  9. You could have your friends go onto Carnivals website and create an account. You would have to give them the booking number. They can link the booking number to their accounts. Once it is linked, they can make payments using their own credit cards. Every time a payment is made to the booking, you (as POC) will get an email confirmation. All three of you will be able to see this booking information but they will not be able to see any of your other booking information.

  10. Have your friends go onto Carnivals website and create an account. You will have to give them the booking number for this cruise, they can link the booking number to their account and then all 3 of you can make payments whenever you want. All three of you will be able to view all payments as they are being made (not the credit card info just payment amount). Each time a payment is made to this booking, you will be emailed. They will only be able to see this booking information (not any information on your other bookings).

  11. We prefer a balcony when we do the longer cruises. I spend more time on the balcony when we are on the ship for 14 or 15 days. However, it is not worth the extra money when we do the shorter ones (JUST MY OPINION). We do not spend enough time on the balcony (or in the cabin) on the shorter cruises so interior works just fine for 7 days or less.

  12. Oh my! I hope that won't be the case for us! Usually the break is later in the month so since we are sailing on Feb 3rd, I'm crossing my fingers there aren't a million kids! Of course I expect some, but want to enjoy my first and probably only cruise without tripping over kids and people. That's why we've chosen a smaller ship(Fascination). There is so much great info on these boards I'm reading everything!! Thanks for all the great input!!

I think you will be fine. Most schools are in session during your cruise.

  13. Like others have said, Carnival is the "fun" ships. We prefer Carnival because we like more fun since we're younger. The laid back cruising with older folks isn't for us. We want to have fun and be in a lively atmosphere when we're cruising.

BTW the Vista isn't the newest ship, the Horizon is. They're sister ships. Vista prices have come down slightly. I would look at a Dream Class ship if you're looking at Carnival cruises. jmho

I agree with you - the Dream Class Ships are my favorite!

  14. Hello,

We have done several cruises with Carnival. We have tried other lines as well. Carnival tends to be a good mixture when it comes to its passengers. In my opinion Carnival tends to draw a lot of younger people because it tends to be a bit more affordable. However, you still have the more mature crowd as well because lets face it all ages want to be able to have fun and enjoy a nice vacation.

THIS IS JUST MY OPINION - I did not like Vista. I prefer the newer ships so I was so excited to give this one a try. The ship just did not have the WOW factor that most of the other ships have. The venues are small so it is hard to get in to see the shows (dance productions and comedy club). Even though I did not like the ship, I still had a wonderful vacation. There was a recent thread all about views and opinions on Vista so you might find that thread interesting. Regardless of which ship you decide to sail on, I would say give Carnival a try, if you don't like it at least you will know it is not the line for you.

Blue Iguana does not offer free drinks.

  15. I wouldn't say that I hate Vista but it is my least favorite. I was so excited to be on Carnival's newest ship. Once we entered the atrium the "WOW" factor was not there. I would agree with Keys2Heaven who stated "There is something about the bling in the Atrium and those glass elevators that just makes a cruise ship, well, a cruise ship! The setup on Vista made it feel more like a modern hotel." I love the atrium elevators and Vista does not have them. I didn't care for the layout of the ship either. However, these things are all minor - I had a GREAT time while sailing her. At the end of the day a vacation is what you make of it.
