  1. Hi folks,

Bit of a long shot but.... Would anybody know the cabin / bed configuration on the Eclipse, please? Would the run of order be the same on each deck?

Whilst on Harmony last year, the balcony side cabin doors were all open when we first boarded so it was easy to see the configuration of beds as we walked along the corridor.

I really dislike the bed being near the bathroom / front of the cabin as some cabins depending on ship etc, give you little room and I prefer to have the sofa / T.V. area near the bathroom instead. Each to their own hey? :)

    Cheers & thanks

  2. Folks, with regards to changing your cabin once already booked - we have just down graded from concierge class to a normal balcony mid ship. We had a look at the overall cost included a hotel the night before, parking at Southampton, excursions and so on, and it was pretty eye watering. We still keep the classic drinks package and the O/B spending money. Also, to change our cabin was easy via our cruise agent in the UK, and there wasn't any cost to change. Also to note, if your paying for parking at ABParking - Southampton, ring up and ask for the discount code for 10% off the cost online - we had a helpful staff member who gave us the code.

  3. Hi all,

We have never sailed with MSC before, and we would like to know how formal dress is on Christmas Eve / Christmas Day? Do many men wear black tie? I guess ladies just dress up so not a bother but I'm just wondering if I should pack my hubbies suit. Thank all and merry christmas.

  4. Hotel Jazz is very good. The hotel is located near to the plaza de catalunya or if its anymore help, the hotel is near Hard Rock Cafe. It's a great location. You can pre book a local taxi to pick you up from the hotel lobby, and it's only about a 10 minute ride to the port.

  5. I'm not sure this may help but, I have just come off Harmony on Sunday, and a waiter in the MDR said the menu will change when it relocates to the Caribbean. He said when a Royal ship is in Europe, it reflects English food and so on.

We joined the ship from Barcelona, before she sailed from Southampton, we were onboard for 11am and the waiters in the pub were changing the menus, they said when the ship sails from a new port the prices change also.

  6. Hi all,

We returned yesterday from our 7 day sailing on Ovation and we very much enjoyed our time onboard. Service was much better all round from Anthem last year. This time we had a large inside cabin on deck 12 and highly recommend this option if you want space over a narrow balcony cabin. Due to the time of year, we wouldn't have used our balcony, and we felt we chose the right option. The virtual balcony was a brilliant idea and worked well. The bathroom had a really large shower, and there was plenty of storage so overall, very impressed!

Entertainment... I was absolutely delighted to see Mick Wilson from the band 10cc onboard playing with the Rewind Project, Royal have done really well getting them onboard. Absolutely brilliant, I've been trying to see them and to walk into the Music Hall not knowing they were on was just fabulous. I thought daytime activities lacked but I've put that in my feedback. If anyone would like info or pictures feel free to add your email address and I'll reply to you. Looking forward to Harmony in 38 days. Happy holidays!

  7. I returned from Anthem yesterday - all the restaurants serve you very quickly and some staff ask you if you have a show booked because then they will speed up the service. There was just the two of us so we would normally be finished in just over an hour.

In wonderland, the waitress asked us to pick two items from each section then said I'll pick them for you and recommended dishes - we interjected and picked our own. Have to say the starters for us were very strange - didn't enjoy but the mains were amazing and saved the day! Halibut and beef delicious and we also ordered the chicken. You can order as much as you like - our waitress in the end was pushing every dish on us.

  8. The Grande is not very formal. Nothing special happened in there so we cancelled our second reservation a couple of nights ago to Silk - which was our favourite restaurant.

There were people in formal attire in all the restaurants - not many though so I agree, it was all very random. Just dress how you want, when you want anything seems to go.

  9. What time do the shows start please?

I'm on Anthem in the summer, and when I ring Royal they can't advise me when they start. Odd because I have been advised to book all restaurants now or run the risk of not getting the dinner time you want.

So, we have followed their advise, book dinner blind... Hoping that they tally up with the shows! Crazy!

    Thanks all

  10. Thanks for this helpful post. I'm on Anthem in June, and whilst I can't wait, I'm a little concerned about the dining and show times clashing. From what I have read, it seems the shows are early in the evening. Like you, I think a phone call is needed to Royal. It's a holiday but quickly becoming a headache!

  11. Hi Folks,

If you have been on Quantum of the Seas, please could you advise what the show times are in the Theatre and in Two70? Also, how many times are the shows on per night?

We are going on Anthem of the Seas this summer, and I'm just looking at booking dinner reservations, however, without knowing what time the shows are starting, it's making it difficult to judge. Royal have not yet announced the shows and times.

Hopefully it will be the same on both ships!?

    Many thanks

  12. Hi,

I have a pending trip of the Iberian Peninsula inc Gibraltar on P&O Azura Southampton return. I was wondering what our tobacco allowance would be per person. EU guidance seems a little confusing. Would be great if you have been on similar trip and have some accurate information for us.

    Thanks in advance.

  13. Thanks for your thoughts. Interesting to read about the cabins that are sideways. Brilliance was our first cruise in 09 (Christmas & New Year) so we do have a soft spot for her and at the time, the food was amazing in the main dining room. So we'll have a think, its either Brilliance or Celebrity Eclipse to Russia, Cel have a drinks and OBC promotion going at the moment but being that the difference is £1000 - I don't think we could drink that much alcohol - it would be a sorry sight :p

  14. Hi folks, looking at a two week cruise on Brilliance for next year. Looking at deck 4 - inside cabin to keep costs down due to going on Anthem. Was wondering if anyone has any info about deck 4 with relation to passing traffic, noise, room sizes, recent make-over, etc etc. We sailed on her in 2009 on deck 10 and found her to be such a lovely ship so was wondering what she is like now.

    Cheers & thanks :D

  15. Thanks all... In reply to changing my surname on Crown & Anchor, a second phone call was needed and the next day my name was changed. My cruise booked for this year is still not showing, so yet again looks like a third phone is required. Incase there are folks with C&A issues.. I was informed that there was a problem a couple of days ago with their system and it wasn't pulling the information over.
